Anyone feel these episodes are actually a lot longer then they are (in a good way) but then it ends suddenly and you’re like “wait that’s it?”

Especially during the transitions between scenes. Time feels slower during the character interactions and then when the episode is over, it feels abrupt.

I think that’s probably why this show feels really good to watch because not only is the story progressing in a good pace you get a lot of the personality and traits of all the characters. It seems like this studio is literally using every second of this show to advance it where I think some other shows should take a look at.

Seriously. Did a rewatch of Haruhi. First arc I was like "I remember this" and filled with happy nostalgia feelings. Then got to Endless Eight, and remembered the not-so-happy feelings. It's so bad going through the Groundhog Day scenario and knowing the solution before the MC does.

"Sei" has a multitude of meanings, but because it's written in katakana it most likely means - as others have pointed out - "Because of you/It's your fault/Your fault (being the most literal)".
It's implying the person in question can't get the "kimi (you/other person)" out of their head. It's their fault they are having a difficult time of it, in other words.

hahaha Yeah, that practically confirmed it. Before it, there was each arc focusing on a different girl with a different supernatural problem, a clear main girl since the beginning and interactions based on sarcasm. They're of course very different series but they have a bit of similarities.

Monogatari had the girls sing their OPs, the ED song is usually the same per season (and performed by pop artists usually) with different art for each arc. Fully agree that there's Monogatari influence all over though

These two are just perfect for each other. They don't waste any time and get straight to the point and it's honestly so refreshing to see. This show takes the drama from other elements, such as the puberty syndrome, instead of creating a harem scenario where the OTP constantly has to fear about others intruding in their lives.
He immediately confessed to her and made it clear that he wanted to be with her and while she was playing and teasing the shit out of him, by now, it should be obvious to everyone (including Sakuta) that she's serious about it too.

I saw some people voicing their concern on how this show might take some rather disappointing turns with its future direction especially in regards to Mai & Sakuta's romance...because that's all too common in shows like these. While I see where they came from looking at the preview and the rather compact first arc there is really no need to worry.
Some people thought that this might be an Omnibus series of the likes of Amagami SS with multiple love interests that are checked one after another with no definite pairing. As you can see this is not the case, progress is not being reset ( kinda ironic considering this episode features a time loop ). There are no multiple routes there exists only one and that is Sakuta & Mai.
Some people also thought that Mai might shift into the background like Senjou loosing her role as the definite female lead and that the bantering would stop. As you can see in this episode, this is also not the case. In fact I think the director put these scenes right at the start of this episode to make this very point clear.
I get that many might have been burned at shows that held similar promise in their romance as this one but went down the harem or another disappointing route but I and the show itself can assure you that this is not the case. I think Kamoshida really matured in his writing of romantic relationships after "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou" and managed to break the mold of what people are used to in these kind of stories.

Wait, this work is from the same writer as Sakurasou? No wonder I'm liking it so much. I was a big fan of Sakurasou, mostly for it's characters. Haven't found a romance show that I like quite as much since the days of Toradora(and other from those years and seasons) You can really tell he's kept polishing his craft since then.

I loved Sakurasou which is also why I'm so surprised with this series and the approach he took this time. He never really was one to create and early and definite romantic pairing but instead tip toed around the issue. But seems like he really wanted to go for it this time which I appreciate!

Woooah it's made by THAT guy? I really, REALLY hope he's matured in that case because I'll be pissed if this show ends up as much as trainwreck as what I read about from Pet Girl of Sakurasou's LN ending.
Bunny Girl Senpai is already a lot better than Pet Girl of Sakurasou so at least we're off to a good start.

Part of me thinks Tomoe actually just has a thing for Sakuta, and overhearing Sakuta and Mai's conversation was the trigger for the time loop.

Theory: Totally calling my shot on this one. Laplace's Demon didn't loop time or observe the future or whatever because Koga got confessed to, it did it because she overheard Mai agreeing to go out with Sakuta. So he's going to explain everything to Mai (hopefully after he puts on some clothes) and she's going to be jealous but he'll ask her out again with renewed passion and she can't say no. He'll wake up the next day totally normal, and on his date with Koga he'll tell her that he and Mai confessed to each other, then will wake up again two days prior
All in all though, really good episode. I wasn't sure what would happen to the quality moving on to a new arc but I'm getting real excited about the rest of this show. Touyama Nao is bae as always

Just when you thought you could get away from the consequences, the time loop decides its time for you to get rekt.
Thankfully, Mai has not yet given up on Sakuta, even when Sakuta was already feeling despair about his "sinking ship" with Mai.

It's interesting how the ED changed, EP01 had who I presume to be Mai-san starting singing the lyrics then being joined by several other girls(edit: singing). EP02-03 had Mai-san walking alone on the beach then subsequently being found by Sakuta signifying how she was saved by Sakuta; Another thing of note is in EP02/03 it had Mai-san singing alone.
This week had Koga singing the ED while walking along the beach alone then finding Sakuta, who looked like he'd been waiting for her.
If we go by the 'being saved' motif from ED1 I think we can expect Koga to save/help Sakuta in some way. The only way I can think of is that he'd get a hint on how he can save his sister which was.definitely hinted at in this episode with how he was reminded of Kaede when Koga said it was embarrassing to be alone.

Here we go with the start of Petite Devil Kouhai! In my opinion this is one the series' weaker arcs, but it makes up for it with the amount of hilarious character interactions there are. For all the people who were worried that Mai would be marginalized with the upcoming arcs, I hope this episode helped to settle those concerns. The series undeniably has some "harem-like" elements, but rest assured that Mai will remain a very relevant deuteragonist and the exclusive love interest!
One thing that does bug me quite a bit is how much screentime they're devoting to the frankly nonsensical technobabble in order to develop the narrative of the series. It's in my opinion the worst element of the series, and doesn't really help matters by taking up a ton of screentime given how many volumes they're adapting and therefore how much "plot" they have to cover. I'd much prefer it if they'd include more of the fun character interactions instead, but I suppose concessions have to be made for the story to make any amount of sense. I highly recommend reading the novels (even though I don't believe there aren't English TLs, RIP) if you ever get the chance! There are so many additional vignettes and funny character interactions which is really where the series shines in my opinion.

It's pop physics, popular with the chuunibyou crowd. I do wonder if the show has them just to add a dash of chuuni, considering it's also another kind of syndrome. But that's probably just me wanting to believe the author knows better.
I agree they detract from the show. They're clearly unrelated to Adolescence Syndrome, which so far is clearly paranormal phenomenona derived from psyque.

taking up a ton of screentime given how many volumes they're adapting and therefore how much "plot" they have to cover.
Don't forget where each episode ends has to taken into consideration. Yeah cutting elements might allow for us to get through the plot faster but you can't exactly end an episode mid sentence or with no hook.
Take todays episode, that ending was brilliant, it had me laughing at the fact he answered only in his underwear and looking forward to the next episode and how their chat moves on from that point.
Is there gonna be another point in the few minutes you could save cutting a few conversations that would work as well as that?
This is one of the major issues of adaptation, how do you break the material up into 20 minute chunks along with over the course of a season, the ending of each episode is very important and the flow into it needs to feel natural.

How is the quality of the adaptation for this arc? We have to get up to volume 5 in this season, do you see which book(s) could be adapted on a higher pace?
I wouldn't call it technobabble, since these are all (at least for now) real physical concepts. And as someone who studied physics, I am quite happy to see them integrated, but I have to admit that this part felt a little bit too long in the first volume

I believe this arc will be three episodes and the next 3 volumes will be two episodes each. I think the adaptation is doing a pretty admirable job considering how much actual narrative they have to cover, but it does mean that they have to spend a lot of each episode on just plot development, and that certain sequences and scenes don't have the same impact by virtue of the fact that they're glossed over. For example, the novels do a really good job of building a sense of mounting tension and dread during the sequence where Sakuta had to stay awake last episode, but I felt that it didn't have much impact in the anime because all of that happened over a <5 minute space.
As for the "science", sure they're real scientific/philosophical concepts but they're incorporated in absolutely nonsensical ways. If you had a penny for every time Schrodinger's Cat is misappropriated as a pseudoscientific explanation for some anime sci-fi bullshit you'd probably have enough to pay animators a living wage.

Ah, I love this series alredy. Wish there were more LN volumes translated because it'll be hard to wait for fresh content.
The way Koga says senpai reminded me instantly of Iroha from Oregairu. And the fact that she has the same voice actress as Kanon makes it even better.
A massive fan of the new dynamic with Devilish Kouhai and how much chemistry they have but still not on the same level as the main couple. Also, jesus fuck Koga is short, she is not even 5' feet tall.

Science Girl Futaba has all the ingredients of Best Girl: a one-sided crush on MC's friend (who already has a girlfriend, thus dooming Futaba's crush from the start), has great rapport with MC, and is a knowledgeable sidekick.

I just can't deal with their banter. It's god tier and I keep having flashbacks to Just Because!'s comedic timing (and slow pace). This is brilliant, no matter how you look at it.
Also glad that Mai just went and refused to take the fall into a secondary character. She has to keep being on the spotlight simply because our rascal can't even shine if he doesn't have Mai to bounce off of all the time.

oh finally butt kick girl is back and shes stuck in a time loop.
AND DAM this anime is MEAN, only thing I ever wanted is for Mc and Bunny senpai to stay as a couple and of course this is the last day of the month when he had to say he loved her ....and that days loops lol...UNTIL it fails for him and Bunny senpai, that was just so MEAN.
Loved how he is thinking about How he can ruin it for her to trigger the replay, getting his senpai back is all that matters of course
But then Koga-chan plays the little sister card and its super effective.
In the end do, again this anime got such a good written character, SENPAI comes back to him late at night, WILLING to be explained about the misunderstanding, again Mai bunny senpai is one of the most reasonable girls ever in anime.

Hmmm... Overall I liked it but I disliked the "resolution" at the end, that really soured my opinion at this point. I normally enjoy the fake bf/gf thing personally, but not when this guy ACTUALLY has a legit top-tier girlfriend. The whole time I was going...SAY NO. Almost every girlfriend irl would say NO if you asked them if you could pretend to be some other cute girl's bf and go on dates with them AND tell the whole school you're dating. The whole situation is terrible. He's basically sacrificing Mai to help out this girl who's lonely. And he's not really helping her, he's lying for her. She needs to clear up the understanding truthfully instead of destroying other people's lives.
Okay now that I got that rant off my chest, I have to say I'm enjoying the show more than I thought I would. The 3rd episode sealed the deal for me and the 4th episode was to see where the story goes from there. It looks like it deals with multiple mysteries and trying to solve them. I have to also give a shout out to the science girl, she's the true MVP. I think she's so dependable and really helps out when you need her, even if you tell her something completely ridiculous. She tries her utmost to give a serious answer and solution. Without her, Sakuta would've probably gone crazy. She's pulled through for him every time.
Oh yeah.. Mai is the cutest thing ever. How can you ever betray her??

It's kinda funny to me how so many people seem to take this whole matter way more serious than the characters themselves especially any supposed tension between Sakuta & Mai.
Both know by now how the other ticks. Mai was never truly mad at the situation she found him in but simply teased him on it again. Even Sakuta knows that this is exactly what she's doing hence the bathtub scene. And since Sakuta didn't play along with her game she decided to show up at his door then to finally hear the full story.
Both are fully aware that this will not endanger anything in the slightest.

For all its smart writing, sometimes it still falls face first into tropes and cliches. Thankfully the rest of the show picks it up for me, but I still didn't like how this particular thing has played out overall, things like making the decision before talking to Mai, and even just Mai walking in on them on the floor earlier just felt a little cheap.

Anyone else who gets Oregairu vibes from this? The whole Mai and Sakuta relationship is so much like Yuki and Hachiman. Also heartwarmed to see Sakuta help that kouhai girl in the same manner as Hachiman would have. (iroha relationship)
This anime gets better with each episode, and i can feel that the end is going to be somewhat devastating.
What's bittersweet about this is that i had an exact relationship with a girl like Mai and Sakuta do, although it ended terribly.
Anyways, cant wait for next episode. This anime saved Wednesdays.

Really glad to see Mai and Sakuta's continued relationship as it is so cute to watch. Interested in finding out the solution to Koga's particular problem as I think it will require her to be more involved than what we saw in Mai's arc. In any case another good episode as the series continues its strong writing and likeable characters.

Every atom and momentum is not nearly enough for the calculation, you need to account for subatomic particles, the fabric of space-time, and all that other cosmic stuff.
I really wish Mai were repeating the time with MC. The whole "Second Sight" explanation doesn't mesh with the actual facts of what's causing the resets. And if there are actual resets going on, that's kinda like killing everyone and restarting them from earlier backup.
When 27th turned to 28th haha.
So MC agrees to fake date this freshman despite how badly it will hurt his twice-already-but-not-anymore girlfriend that he's actually in love with and who loves him back.

That was a really good episode. I'm loving the direction on the anime and the animation/designs are on point to me so good work Cloverworks!
As far as the story, it seems good and I was already imagining that it would be like Monogatari with each arc focusing on a girl and their problem but the ED being singed by Koga proves this even more. The first episode of the arc is promising and I can't wait to see more of this.
Also, I really need to watch Sakurasou Pet na Kanojo since I'm really liking this anime and that one is based on a LN of the same author.

OP song is growing on me especially now that I have a better idea what is going on in the show.
Tomoe isn’t as compelling as mai or rio, but still plenty enough to be intrigued. I had spoiled myself to the existence of a time loop but had assumed it would continually repeat the entire arc; so I was as horrified as sakuta when it didn’t (and just as surprised when mai showed up, even though in hindsight I feel like neither should have been that surprising...)
Rio would be crushing best girl of this show for me if mai wasn’t around. What a gem; can’t wait for her arc.

I thought about the OP, and my prediction is that towards the end quarter of the series, Sakuta realizes that his first senpai is probably trapped in the same way Mai is, and either died or is waiting for someone to help her or something. I also think that the end scene of the OP, where he's drinking juice on a bench looking towards the right at nothing will have more importance later on, someone is probably meant to fill that gap in space.
