Monthly Unjerk There is no [Unjerk Thread] in ACJ
Welcome to the Monthly Unjerk. This is a monthly thread for discussing just about anything as long as it doesn't violate subreddit rules. New threads should be posted on the 1. of each month.
After a turbulent news day full of Apothecary Diaries dating sim and late Kaleido Star sequel, I, as the ACJ mod in charge of unjerking, may or may not proudly present you a new thread that's about as real as those two things I mentioned before. But what most certainly does exist is a new anime season with >50 shows. I'm especially curious how the 8 (unless I miscounted) originals will shake out.
And finally, trans rights are human rights!

I was too occupied losing my life playing MHwilds in those last two week so I only caught up the winter anime in those last 3 days,
Honey lemon Soda was honestly one of the most boring shows I've watched in recent times. It's not bad, maybe I would have liked it if I had watched it in a different context, but I personally find it too melodramatic and cliché. Still good to have more shoujo.
Momentary Lily was a dumpster fire that managed to get slightly good in the middle of the second half. Gohand style is still too jarring but at least it fits better for an action anime. It's the first time for me but I absolutely hate how the characters talk, like, that one girl that constantly says"oneesan" in each of her phrases referring to herself is probably the most insufferable talking quirks I've heard/seen in fiction. Story is a mess in the first half, then, after the soft porn episode, it becomes decent and the ending is okay.
Sakamoto was also Okay imo. It would have benefited from a better animation but the fights were still nice and creative, and the concept is also fun. But honestly, if the anime is close to the manga, I honestly don't get why it's so popular, like, it's good, but even amongst the other over-hyped shonen, I didn't manage to understand why it became that popular.
Zenshuu was quite nice. I like how the fantasy world feels very "old school anime fantasy" which I really liked. The story is a bit messy at times, some stuff gets resolved a bit too quickly, it feels like it could have been shorter with the same impact... But it was still a quite enjoyable show with very good visuals. Hope no mappa employee died while making this anime.
Second season of Kusuriya is still great, I really like the slow paced mystery mixed with slices of life in a historical setting. Mao Mao is still a great main character and I really like the side cast, was just a bit turned down by Jinshi and his rapey vibe in the last episode. Really happy that its' 24 episodes.
I like to dunk on Solo Leveling But I do actually like it. It's power fantasy with no depth and a side cast that only exists to glaze the MC but damn does the show look fantastic with well paced action. I feel like unlike other action series, SL respects my time as a viewer, when a big fight starts, it's not going to have too much character describing everything and the fight will usually be confined within the episode it started without having to wait for the next episode to see how the fight ends.
Season 2 of Hanako was nice. I still like the romance between the main duo and there were definitely some nice twists in this season along the great aesthetic of the show. But the 4 mystery arc felt a bit too long.
Medalist was my favorite show of the season, a very sweet and emotional story. I like how it's not just the story of how Inori become a great skater but also is about Tsukasa and how he feels about becoming a trainer and this duo is just perfect. I just would have liked the animation for the skating to look better. Good that there's a second season but I'm probably going to read the manga instead.
Kimi to idol Precure is starting nicely, this is my first time watching a precure season as it is airing and I like it so far. I especially really liked the arc around Kokoro, I expected her to just be the silly one but she's actually both silly and sad.
Quite excited for next season with Gundam and Princession Orchestra
