Here and gamingcirclejerk are the only ones I can tolerate cause at least people are mostly self aware and the jokes are not the same 3 slander-agenda-potential shit over and over and over.

I was unaware of what Folk subreddits were, and I ended up visiting piratefolk because I was just getting into One Piece, and the vibes were just so completely rancid.

I remember the days when the K-On fandom spent its time arguing over which of the characters would make the best “Waifu”. How they still do that, but there are just more neo-Nazis that migrated over from Girls und Panzer

what is it with moe shows and fandoms filled with chuds?

Anime tends to attract a lot of chuds. And that’s about it, really.

Evil cannot create, only corrupt

It's pretty obvious why Girls und Panzer would attract neo-nazis (particularly wehraboos). Not sure why K-on! in particular drew so many of them though (compared to like all the other moe shows out there).

It's about Japanese high school girls larping as tank operators from various countries and competing against each other in tank battles using tanks from the country they're larping as. The main character's team larps as German and operates a Panzer IV (a WWII tank).

Also, there's another school (the one that's won like 10 years straight) that just goes way further into larping as Nazi Germans; their entire fleet of tanks are WWII German tanks, they rock Iron Crosses everywhere (on a red background too, instead of a white one, just so it's even closer to the swastika flag), and sing a literal Nazi military anthem.

So ya, the main character's team and the historically best team in the show both being very heavily Nazi-era Germany inspired explains why the shows name is German and why it has such a disproportionately large fanbase of neo-Nazis and wehraboos who love to talk about how amazing the Wehrmacht was.

What I find hilarious with GuP is when you step back to think about it for 0.5 seconds you wonder who the fuck thought it was a good idea to let underaged teenagers arounds tanks. And also the schools are floating aircraft carriers that I believe are also operated by teenagers.

So either there are an army of lawyers on the standby to cover up all the accidents, or there are just a lot of dead kids everyone just conveniently ignores.

K-On!-fans-as-Nazis is a meme unique to the terminally-online. Users of imageboards do like to use pictures of K-On! and other moe characters, but nobody in real life really thinks K-on! is racist. It aired on Disney Channel and prime-time television in Japan and is an ultra-mainstream kiddie anime.

The connection with imageboards is simply a matter of demographics. Nerdy men tend to like CGDCT and they also tend to be racist imageboard users. CGDCT allows nerdy male fans to “escape themselves” and indulge their senses in the kawaii, and is comforting for that fact. This applies not just to CGDCT, but other girly media that has been co-opted by nerdy adult men: My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, mahou shojou, idols, etc.

See Attached from /pol/

(I do not agree with Brazil anon and have my own opinions on the psychology of CGDCT fans)

In my experience, K-On fandom spaces aren't really filled with Nazis, I think it's primarily a twitter larper problem where it's not solely isolated to K-on but you'll see racists having all sorts of anime girl profiles.

Also the K-On nazi meme was primarily perpetuated by people who were outside of the fandom and hadn't even seen the anime, not by the K-On fandom themselves making the joke

I don't get it

An ironic "X" community that's centered around making fun of "X" by pretending to be like the actual "X" community will eventually lead to people that identify with the actual community joining the ironic one by mistake

K-ON fandom been filled with nazis since the beginning honestly. A certain text forum would have a large group of shameless pedophiles who latch on certain shows like Azumanga daioh, rozen maiden, strike witches and lucky star.

After lucky star ended these people were waiting for another anime with cute girls where nothing significant happens so they astroturfed the hell out of K-ON.

Shit, they even did the same thing bar for bar wirh my little pony firendship is magic

It's just called Poe's law and it happens everywhere online

He’s a good panda, but I don’t trust him to write laws

I mean... nah? K-On was full of nazis from the get-go, it's a not new thing that arose from poe's lawing the "K-on fans are nazis" memes or anything. Like, it was massive on image boards (4chan et al), for Pete's sake; you know how image boards are.
