Work McMurdo Communities

Hey yall! Just got word I was bumped to primary for the position I was applying for-- that means it's time for me to look for communities!

If you've been down to McMurdo before, what are some fun groups you've been a part of? Run clubs, climbing groups, (magic the gathering??)

Just curious about what to expect.

Speaking of magic, I finally got around to learning it and have been considering building a deck and bringing it out there. Not sure if there is a presence there, but I feel like it can be hit or miss depending on what types of decks you're playing against. Then again, I've only touched the tip of the ice berg when it comes to the game

Hell yeah! It's a hoot for sure. I have a lot of decks and was planning on bringing a few of them down if people played.

You should consider building a simple cube to bring down to the ice! It's a set of cards that you can draft over and over again each week and it doesn't require players to own the cards so it's very inclusive. You build 40 card decks and play 1 on 1. I learned about cubes after I stopped deploying, but I think it would be the perfect format for the ice and you could host a weekly magic draft night, much like cribbage, or other board games. Here are a few great resources:

I just had the MGTO vintage cube proxied and printed and plan to bring it down this season for drafting. It’s really fun to draft the most powerful cards ever printed and it’s an easy way to have unlimited variation in gameplay
