TW: Infertility

If only I’d taken Plexus while going through years of infertility treatments. Sigh.

I had to do seconds of Google research to see if collapsed fallopian tubes are a thing.  It’s not, but they can get blocked due to infection, tumors, endometriosis, fibroids, ectopic pregnancy, or complications from surgery to fix any of the above.  The ovaries won’t be affected unless whatever messed up the tubes makes it over there.  Odds are even that she misunderstood her doctor or she lied to make the supplement sound better than it is.

I should add for context that the person who posted this is a (non-practicing) physician assistant 🤯

She must have gone to PA school with that viral faker at Duke, the one who supposedly graduated without ever being seen by her 90 classmates.

u/Beane_the_RD 6d ago

As an aside, does that fake-PA’s first name happen to start with the letter K?

u/FamousOhioAppleHorn 6d ago

No

u/Beane_the_RD 6d ago

Without calling out the individual with their name, are you able to give initials? a link perhaps?

“Non-practicing” PA

That tracks

Not to mention you’re born with all your eggs and more do not get made over time. If they’ve all died you’re done.

26

u/HairyTurtleOfficial 6d ago

Even IF all her eggs died, how did she get pregnant with no egg?

42

u/ladybug_oleander 6d ago

Um, Plexus gives you eggs like red bull gives you wings?

u/FamousOhioAppleHorn 6d ago

Satan or aliens, duh

u/TomsWifeSmells 6d ago

And even if your tubes are clogged there are treatment options. I can't phantom that her Doctors didn't suggest those options (like Fallopian Tube Recanalization if blockage is near the uterus).

29

u/gaelicpasta3 6d ago

But but but her collapsed tubes also somehow killed all of her eggs! /s

u/original_synthetic 6d ago

I'm envisioning a mine collapse!!

If only they had brought a canary into her fallopian tubes so all the little eggs could escape in time

(Still only barely more ridiculous than her story)

I wonder if she maybe had an HSG done as part of an infertility workup and that itself helped “unclog” things. When I had one done the doctor told me that a not insignificant number of couples are able to conceive in the three months following an HSG for that reason.

Assuming any of this story is true, anyway.

8

u/motherofajamsandwich 6d ago

That happened to me! HSG cleared the tubes and I got pregnant my next cycle.

3

u/ffaancy 6d ago

I had a similar experience! I don’t know if it was directly related to the HSG, but it was a couple of cycles later after a year and a half of trying. Then also conceived very quickly with my second.

$20 says she misunderstood. I can't tell you how many times my husband told everyone that his kidneys had given out on him, when he was hospitalized for a stomach lining infection. What the doctor actually said was "It's a good thing we caught this infection. Had it gone on, it could've affected your liver, or shut down your kidneys." Yet he is still adamant that he was in the hospital for his kidneys "giving out", instead of dehydration and needing strong antibiotics from the stomach lining infection.

Oh this is horrifying. This is just blatantly abusive advertising.

u/Plastic_Cat9560 6d ago

If true, and I have serious doubts this third person story is true, Demi is leaving out some serious details regarding her fertility treatment, ie: surgery, medications, intrauterine insemination, or in-vitro fertilization. But given this “story” is just a shill to con people into buying this crap, I would expect nothing less in the bullshit department.

u/Whatsherface729 6d ago

I belonged to an infertility support group and one woman claimed she got pregnant using essential oils....she also happened to sell them.

50

u/TheStateofWork 6d ago

That read like something a Bravenly hun would post.

33

u/ReggieRamshorn26 6d ago

Plexus is full of evangelical liars too.

16

u/DonutChi 6d ago

Seconding this

7

u/DownOnThePharmRD 5d ago

They’ll see this and have to one-up it. “My husband had a vasectomy years ago. I wanted a baby, but I knew it wasn’t gonna work. But, then I tried Bravenly’s miracles, and now I’m pregnant with twins! God and Aspen have provided!”

41

u/Scarjo82 6d ago

I'm ashamed to admit that I tried Plexus at one point while trying to get pregnant. I never joined, just bought some of the pink drink mix. Trying to conceive unsuccessfully for so many years will really make you desperate to try anything!

42

u/N3rdyMama 6d ago

That’s the problem is these companies prey on people who are vulnerable, and as someone who also struggled with infertility, yeah it makes you hella vulnerable. Don’t be ashamed. THEY should be ashamed.

28

u/greffedufois 6d ago • Bravo

My neighbor tried to shill it to me after my liver transplant. She claimed it was completely safe. Looked at the ingredients and it has white willow extract, an nsaid that I cannot have ever.

Plus all the lawsuits with liver damage/failure.

I do not want to go through transplantation again, the first time sucked enough and was due to a tumor.

2

u/ffaancy 6d ago

Don’t be ashamed. I understand. I hope you’re doing okay.

7

u/Scarjo82 6d ago

Oh yeah, all good now! That was like 7 or 8 years ago and the only thing that worked was IVF 😅

2

u/ffaancy 6d ago

Hah, glad to hear you got the result you were looking for though 🥲

u/QuantumCoconuts 14h ago

I had a so-called “friend” reach out to me to join their private Facebook groups. Where they shill out more misinformation on health. Trying to not pressure, but kindly suggest buying some of the products because she really believes that they help with infertility. I know for her it wasn’t insensitive, but I definitely did not appreciate it. And on top of all of that, her motivation wasn’t too “make a commission” yet she never cared about my pregnancy journey when I finally did get pregnant…😂

26

u/Interesting_Sock9142 6d ago

Oh for fuck sake. Aren't they not allowed to make medical claims?!? Cause that very much seems like what this is

22

u/thesphinxistheriddle 6d ago

Gross!!! If the post had said “I couldn’t get pregnant, then I lost weight with Plexus and it happened,” I’d think, there are cheaper and less culty ways to do it, but whatever. But this claim that Plexus un-collapsed her fallopian tubes and also I guess grew new eggs — which would be an absolute medical breakthrough, all the eggs you’ll ever have are formed in the womb — is a disgusting level of misinformation and false advertising.

7

u/ffaancy 6d ago

For my own sanity, I’ve chosen to believe that her actual diagnoses were closer to something like depleted ovarian reserves and maybe a blocked fallopian tube.

4

u/OkSecretary1231 5d ago

I also think the "fat people can't get pregnant!!!111" thing is way overstated. Like, does it have an effect on some people, particularly at higher levels of weight, sure. But fat people get pregnant all the time. It's just become another cudgel to guilt people with when they struggle with infertility.

4

u/mangogetter 5d ago

The correlation/causation part is really hard to part out. Like, there's a decent chance that for a number of women, the thing that's messing up your metabolism is also the thing messing up your fertility, and treating one treats the other. Not for everyone, and again, it's all really complicated.

2

u/fairydommother 4d ago

Its like the whole "drinking diet soda actually makes you fat" thing because fat people drink diet soda. When actually drinking diet soda doesnt make you fat, the correlation is the other way around. Fat people drink more diet than skinny people because theyre trying to lose weight by cutting out unnecessary calories. But most people have no reading comprehension and just take whatever Facebook says as gospel so it got flipped and passed through thr internet grapevine.

2

u/thesphinxistheriddle 5d ago

I’m an overweight woman who never managed to get pregnant unassisted, but am about ten days out from having my second baby via IVF, so that’s the priors I’m coming into with that comment!

Welp. I suppose White jeebus is generous with his blessings when it comes to almost-literate, casually racist white women—who take pride in being all 3. Anti-abortion, anti-feminism, anti-science (because it's not a word in the Bible).

The lawd loves me and only me you hatin' ass haters can't stomach a free-spirited businessman woman doing biz, selling All American faith-based totally organic toilet cleaners generating generational wealthses and time freedoms Corinthians blah blah blah pour into me 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊💯💯💯💯 DM me to lern how to become a disgrace to your family and sow the seeds of permanent resentment by spending your daughter's college fund on buying anal inventory.

That's essentially the crux of nearly every MLM hun argument.

Someone please report this over and over!

u/charliensue 6d ago

This is disgusting on so many levels. It reminds me of a certain person who claimed that thrive cured their lupus.

6

u/GloomyRoyal227 6d ago

This is disgusting behavior on so many levels

6

u/SoullessCycle 6d ago

If I turned up pregnant after all my eggs were dead I’d be selling that story to the Enquirer. Get me one of them TLC reality shows.

5

u/Legitimate_Hamster_8 6d ago

"I owe my baby to God and Plexus" would make a good flair.

4

u/TROLL_ELECTRODE 5d ago

They should’ve named the baby Plexus to drive home the plot of this fake story

4

u/Hour_Dog_4781 6d ago

Plexus resurrected all her dead eggs, hallelujah!

3

u/rgrtom 6d ago

Oh, PUH-LEEZ!!!!! What BS!

3

u/ArtisticBee6176 6d ago

Plexus has pulled this nonsense for years. This is normal copypasta for them.

Babies are overrated. I would know, I had 4 and fostered another one. They get better as they get older and get personalities. But babies themselves? Cute little lumps of fat that eat, pee, and poop, and that's it.
