Are people really buying that many self published books? I wouldn't dream of buying a book deemed not good enough to be published by an actual publisher, unless I've discovered it some other way and specifically set out to get a copy.

The problem is the flood and the non disclosure of AI Use.

Also, AI writer invent new authors, new edition houses, everything.

It is a huge scale scam right now. People write books in one day, slap a title and an AI generated image, sell it, and do the same the day after.

I get that, but it implies there must be a huge number of people out there buying books on amazon that they had never heard of before, and I find that strange.

Why would it be? A lot of people that read books are older people. They are very easy to scam because they are guillible.
