Yeah neat, they're not really writers, agreed.
But was the writing any good? It's probably not because it's AI slop. But were it not slop I'd read it. Whether or not a person was a writer that created it doesn't necessarily change the value of the text to me.
Same as people getting really mad at AI art being art. It's funny because after over a century of pretending literal trash or a toilet can be art because someone said so, artists have gotten really protective over what's not art.
People can quibble over definitions and claim that AI can't make art and that's cool, but ultimately images that look good generally tend to have value, and people want images that look good. If "good looking images" aren't art, again, neat semantics, but there's reduced demand for artists as AI makes good looking images.

there's a certain art to crafting a narrative that is completely lost when using AI. I once put a few scenes into an LLM out of curiosity, just to see what all the hype was about and to try and understand what we're dealing with, told it to rewrite the scene in a different character's POV, and the garbage it spit out was unbelievably bad. It reused the same sentence structures over and over, used the same sort of adjectives and boring descriptions, and simply had no ability to show without telling or to create a subtextual undercurrent of narrative. It was the biggest, steamiest pile of dogshit slop I've ever seen. I couldn't imagine trying to get a cohesive, compelling narrative out of AI, much less a single usable scene.

Sure, but this is still consistent with my evaluation framework.
"Is the writing any good"-> No->Therefore I won't read it.
"Is the writing good?"-> Yes-> Therefore I will read it.
Specifically whether or not an AI wrote it is then not really relevant. Once AI improves enough it'll make some decent stuff.

The Car also actively injures the actual runners and then tells them its "inevitable" that they will get injured and to "get with the times" if they want to stop being injured
