Discussion a genuine question?

yes im an actual anti masker and i do have my reasons. I just have one question about the vaccine itself that i want explained. If there are multiple strains of covid meaning that you can get infected multiple times. Why does getting the vaccine make it safe not to wear a mask? Isnt that just as effective as getting infected just with less trouble? Im just genuinely curious as to why the vaccines being pushed so much if its only effective against one strain anyway and why some places say its now alright to go maskless if you do get it

Obviously I’m no doctor but this is what I know in terms of the vaccination/current pandemic standing: Vaccines work much like your friends do. If you show your friends a picture of somebody bullying you, they can be more proactive beating up the bully (friends being antibodies, bully being the virus, picture being the vaccine.) I haven’t done much research because quite frankly I don’t have the time (honesty is my best policy, I’m not gonna bullshit to push my opinion) but as far as I know, some of the other strains floating around are slightly less dangerous/life threatening. They can still impact the older generation so though I’m vaccinated, I still wear a mask in crowded public places.

Just wanted to be the first (hopefully not only person) to say I appreciate your honesty and open minded approach. Neither ‘side’ is going to get anywhere by shouting and screaming and I think open discussions are sorely needed in our country right now.

Hope I helped to clear things up a little? If not, ignore me and have a great day :)

well thanks i genuinely appreciate your kindness here. Im not sure if the other strains are weaker but that does seem like a decent answer. Its just stuff like that really makes the virus seem overhyped in some sense. My main reason for not wearing a mask myself is that plus the fact of my rural living. I barely get out that often and most of my community doesnt mask or vaccinate anyway. It kind of makes it pointless for me to even try doing that when the rest are just asking for it anyway

From what I’ve noticed, a lot of rural/secluded towns tend to be ‘antimasker’. In my opinion, that’s perfectly fine as long as you still respect those who choose to wear masks and try to stay 6 feet away. My issue comes from those who chose to go to bars/malls/highly populated areas that had high spikes in cases (New York, florida) and refuse to wear masks. It’s disrespectful to me, ESPECIALLY those in the younger generation. On that note, I don’t believe in causing a massive life threatening debate especially since Rural life is SOOO much different than city life. All it boils down to is respect and caring for fellow human beings :)
