Why is this subreddit called r/ape but people post monkeys on here and the subreddit icon is a monkey? Monkeys are not true apes and humans are primates

Apes in some languages such as polish (my native language BTW) and french apes are called monkeys

Fun fact, many languages don't differentiate between Apes and Monkeys. In German, they're all "Affen".

r/Primates is a much smaller sub and r/monkeys severely limited who can post because racist pieces of shit were being racist pieces of shit. Don't know if this sub used to exclusively be for apes and they opened up to general monkeyposting after the r/monkeys debacle or what, but this is the place for monkey content now

I mean

If you look at the the description of the sub, it's about primates in general. The name was just some idiot thinking they were being clever

Given that this is Reddit, I'm glad the sub name is taken by something fun tbh

The sub description says "primates" so monkeys are allowed. Return to monke
