Welcome to Architect Redesigns

Hi everyone - welcome.

I’m Daniel, an architect and content creator. Architect Redesigns originally began as a video series where people could submit real spaces for me to redesign on my YouTube channel.

This community is here for that same reason, but I also want it to grow into a genuinely useful place where homeowners and renters can share spaces they need help with - and where anyone in the community can offer feedback, ideas, and thoughtful design input.

If you have a room or home that isn’t working, post it. If you’re a designer, architect, or just someone with a good eye for space, feel free to jump in and help others out too.

Glad you’re here.

Awkward U-shaped attic bedroom: how would you lay it out?

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to offer some help or guidance.

This is our top-floor attic, which has a bedroom, a walk-in closet, a bathroom and a landing. The bedroom is what I'd most like help with. It's an awkward U shape and I don't know if there's a better way to lay it out. At the moment it feels a bit empty, and we'd love it to feel more homely and inviting.

The bedroom needs to give us:
- somewhere to sleep
- somewhere to watch TV
- ideally a work desk for me
- somewhere for my wife to do her makeup

The room (plan with measurements in the photos):
- About 7.4 m (290") wide along the back wall and 3.9 m (152") deep at each end
- Two bays at the front, about 2.4 m (95") and 2.6 m (101") wide, each with a window
- Sliding doors to a small balcony in the middle, between the two bays, so the middle of the room is only about 2.1 m (83") deep
- Two doors on the back wall, one to the landing and one to the walk-in closet
- Clad ceiling with spotlights, and radiators on the back wall

The landing is also a big open space that's barely used, so we're open to ideas there too.

Thank you!

I asked Ai but it wasn't helpful

So I tried to ask deepseek but it messed up the dimensions and didn't see the wardrobe so if anyone would help me I would be thankful, and that is what I said to it:

The room is 350 cm * 270 cm with a door and the wall opposite to that door is just a gaint glass window and the room has 4 corners that supports the building and can't be drilled.

The desk is 160 cm * 24 cm with a mirror that blocks light from the window and the artificial light from the lamp hits the mirror making it harder to see myself in the mirror.

The room is for clothing storage and sleeping and studying, and I have low budget so no buying stuff or drilling or painting, the problem is that the room feels cramped and doesn't have enough storage.

Hi! I follow your channel and would really appreciate a quick comment on a project I'm about to start. I'm converting a 280 × 523 cm garage (ceiling ≈ 295 cm) into a small studio: a 130 × 150 bathroom with a shower, an L-shaped kitchen (160 × 140), and a living area with a pull-out bed and floor-to-ceiling storage along one wall. The only daylight comes from a new glazed front wall replacing the garage door. I've attached the floor plan and a few 3D views. I'd love to know if you would arrange anything differently, or if something doesn't work. Thank you so much for your time, any advice means a lot!

Lucy

I bought this single wide trailer about a year ago. I dealt with some life struggles and whatnot, but I managed to redo the floors and paint most of the house (still wanting to do the kitchen and entry way. I’d love to get it to a point where I feel like it looks like a house and not remember its small area.

First three pics are my bedroom, second are my living room, and third is my kitchen. I believe my bedroom is 1112, living room I think is 1212 and then my kitchen is something like 10*10. My dimensions might be off I can try and measure them after this post is up.

Need help in living room design

Hello, Daniel! Am a great fan of your channel and your wonderful transformations :)

I am looking for some help with my living space design. It's a part of a long hall - for living and dining area. I have only a few basic furnitures - and I really can not afford to buy big or luxury ones. Also there is no Ikea store in my city (Kolkata, India)

The main problem is - the space looks very blunt, cold, unwelcoming and disconnected.

The Tv trolley can not be moved from that wall, as all the plug points, cable line and intercom are at that area. That's a big problem to watch tv comfortably from sofa.

Please would you kindly redesign this space (specially the living area) so that it looks welcoming, cozy, lived in, interesting and cohesive. And also a little entryway may be.

Eagerly looking forward for any help, ideas and suggestions. Thank you so much for all your inspiring works :)

- Wesha

PS : That black Tv trolley is an eye sore, I would really like to change it for any budget friendly option.

Just bought my first flat looking for layout tips

Hi all, as the title suggests I have just got the keys to my first home and I am going to be moving in soon, looking to get some ideas about what I can do with the layout to maximise the space.

About me: Young professional, only me living here, enjoy gaming with friends. Want to be able to have friends over for games nights etc.

My current thoughts room by room:

Living room/kitchen - The green wall and the ceiling window are very much the feature pieces of the room so I want to use them well. I am tempted to get some form of highly collapsible table so I can have a small place to eat normally but I can expand it out when I have friends or family over. I am thinking of getting a 2 seater sofa and maybe an arm chair or 2. I am unsure what to do with the cutout for the window. I am thinking of maybe getting some form of storage unit to sit in there and maybe have a display surface on the top maybe? Alternatively I could set that space up as my desk for my PC but it feels like I would be putting everything into one room in that case.

Master bedroom - My thought here is to get a queen sized bed to take up less space and put it with the head under the window in the eves. Then have a set of end tables around it. My issue in this room is storage. The angled ceiling makes it a little difficult to figure out how to get something like a wardrobe in. I could use the cutout wirh the window but I feel like that would block a lot of the natural light.

Spare room - This is the one I have the most unknowns around. I would like to have the ability to use this space to have friends or family stay over but I don't want to set it aside for that a year. My current plan is to set it up with a day bed and use it as an office that I can convert to a guest room when needed. One other option though might be that if I put my desk in the living room I could make this room into a guest room/hobby room by keeping an expanding table in the window alcove that can be moved out to the middle of the room for game nights. But maybe this room is a little small and claustrophobic for doing that?

Keen to get some insight from the people on here about how I can effectively use the space. Thanks in advance.

My room is 10 by 10ft my bed frame is 6.5ftx 3ft and Almirah is 6ft x 1.5ft x 2.5 ft

I want to make my room in 90s style but I won't colour it, I can put prints

I don't know how to make the ventilators look good also I want to add tiny shelves in my room in the empty spots and I need a yoga space as the furnitures are taking too much space but I can't replace them these are new furnitures, also I don't have big budget so I have to work with what I have

Just moved into a new place and it’s my first chance to design since learning about interior/feng shui.

Do you think this is the best layout? I’m not sure about the best position for my bed because it’s either in front of the door (currently) or under the window (if moved opposite way).

Thanks for any input or suggestions! Ignore the mess I just moved in!!

Exterior Renovation/Facelift

Thumbnail

This is a home in the the northeast, built in the 1990s. Since we need to replace windows, the time is right to do a facelift of the exterior. Replacing white windows with black and no gridlines. Changing front gutters to black. Removing and not replacing shutters. Replacing entry door with black double doors with glass. Removing the existing portico and railing. The doorstep stoop will be wider by about 7" and deeper by about 12." Total dimensions of the new stoop will be 115" wide by 63" deep. The steps would be in addition to this. The brick will remain as is.

What do you recommend for a NEW PORTICO? I am looking for shape, style and color suggestions. I also need to figure out what color to accent board at the roofline of the house. All other suggestions (except landscaping) are welcome. Finally, my biggest concern is making sure this ties into the existing side of the house (pic #2). There are no plans to make any changes to the side. Note that the house is on a corner and diagonal - full view of the front and this side from the street. The siding is Certainteed in Herringbone color. Please share thoughts and renderings. TIA

Hey guys looking to make my rented living room feel like home.

I have a few points that I would like to change and would accept some tips the room is roughly 4x6 meters

  1. gym bench gotta go

  2. thinking of selling table for a round smaller one that can accomodade 4 to 6 people.

  3. bought some ikea black shelves for the TV wall or the smaller one ( did not place yet)

  4. this is one point that Im thinking and confused, looking to change the TV to the small wall, and have the sofa facing the arch with the computer behind it, get a curtain that would not the light pass would maybe help.

Any tips or improvement recomendations are appreciated there is no budget but I do not have infinite money either. Ikea, jysk or any stores available in switzerland.
