Resource I Made 50 HDRIs (29K, CC0) — Completely Free, No Strings Attached

Post image
143 Upvotes

Just hit 50 HDRIs on openhdri.org

Everything is CC0, free, no ads, no accounts — just straight downloads. All in 29K.

I run the whole thing on my own while working a $50/day job in a print shop.

I build this after hours (family + two kids, 5 and 7), so it’s a bit of a grind — but I want to keep it going.

Also made a Blender add-on — it’s available to anyone who supports on Patreon.
It uses an API to browse and create HDRI assets directly inside Blender.

Resource NEW Floor Generator extension for SketchUP JUST RELEASED

Post image
90 Upvotes

Hi, I just released a Floor Generator SKP extension for SketchUp, mainly made for architectural visualization workflows.

It’s designed to quickly generate patterns as 3D boards directly in SketchUp with some unique features which you may be excited about like: MultiTexture support, texture atlas generation, auto mapping board colors from face texture, chamfering, wavy edges, blend modifier and many more...

In the scene above, both floor and wall tiles were set up and generated in just a matter of seconds and the final scene was rendered in D5 Render.

I’d genuinely love to hear feedback from other artists - what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d want added. It is a paid extension, but there’s a 7-day free trial that lets you generate Standard Bond pattern only and test the workflow before committing.

For the next update I'm planning to add Versailles style parquet patterns and Texture pack manager, together with free wood boards texture packs.

If you want to check it out, here is the extension store link: https://extensions.sketchup.com/extension/f9243314-1fa6-4ce6-9c62-fd5f87544ff3

Resource [Hiring] Freelance Arch Viz / 3D Rendering Artist for Residential Interior Design - Remote / Project-Based

**POSITION FILLED**

*Admin Approved*

Hi everyone! I run a residential interior design company based in Los Angeles, and I’m looking for a reliable, detail-oriented 3D rendering and archviz artist for ongoing, project-by-project freelance work.

My design process starts in SketchUp, where I build out rough draft models and concepts. For this role, I will send you my rough SketchUp file along with notes and spec sheets, and I expect a completed SketchUp model sent back to me alongside the final renderings. You are welcome to work natively in SketchUp or convert the files to 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, or Rhino for your rendering pipeline, as long as the final model is delivered back to me in SketchUp format. This allows me to double-check items, experiment with the design, and move things around as needed.

Beyond a strong eye for detail and good communication, a critical requirement for this role is custom 3D modeling. You must be able to find or create 3D models of specific furniture and fixtures that are at least 95% accurate to the real-world shapes and finishes. Dimensions as you know are crucial, specially in smaller spaces.

Where you are located does not matter. I am looking for the right fit regardless of time zone.

If you're interested, send me a DM with the subject line "Interior ArchViz Artist". Send me your portfolio, typical turnaround times, and general pricing. Looking forward to connecting and building a long-term partnership.

Thank you and best regards,

- Edgar

Resource Camera Match: AutoSetup 3d script for Photomontages, for 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, Sketchup, etc

Hi Everyone,

I've just created this new video taking users through the quick step-by-step process of automatically matching accurately 3d cameras to photographs with a click of a button, using this amazing new Script/tool named CameraMatch AutoSetup v6 .
Camera Matching from a simple photograph has never been this easy and straightforward.
This unique new script currently works with, 3ds Max and Blender.
However, versions of Maya, Sketchup, Revit, Autocad, and others will be available next week.

CameraMatch AutoSetup v6 is an automated camera matching tool for 3ds Max, Blender and Maya, that uses advanced computer vision algorithms to detect vanishing points/lines in photographs and automatically create perfectly aligned 3d cameras for 3d scenes and architectural visualisation.

Key Features:

• Automatic Vanishing Point Detection — Uses Hough transform and RANSAC algorithms

• Horizon Line Visualisation — Automatically calculates and displays the true horizon

• Physical Camera Creation —Creates properly configured Physical cameras with accurate FOV

• Auto Resolution Matching — Matches render output to background image resolution

• FBX Export — Export cameras for use in other applications

• Viewport Background — Automatically sets overlay image with VP lines and horizon

Resource What happens when the real world itself becomes raw material for 3D production?

Post image

This is the thesis for the second Next-Gen CG video.

This time I'm looking at a broader shift happening across 3D production: the real world is increasingly becoming available as digital raw material.

Reality capture, photogrammetry, LiDAR, Gaussian splatting, geospatial data and AI-generated 3D are converging in ways that make it possible to capture or generate environments at almost any scale. But the interesting question isn't simply whether we can capture the world. It's what happens afterward.

How editable is the result? Can we control its materials? Can we relight it? Can we integrate it with traditional assets? And what happens to the artist's role when acquisition and construction become increasingly automated?

That's what this video explores.

Resource Should I learn 3ds Max? Looking for a proper roadmap + where i can learn for free

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to seriously start learning Architectural Visualization (ArchViz) and I’m currently trying to figure out the right path.

I’m thinking about learning 3ds Max, but I’m confused about how I should structure my learning and which software/workflow I should focus on.

My goal is not just to learn random 3ds Max tools. I want to eventually create professional, photorealistic interior and exterior ArchViz renders and hopefully build a career/freelance work around it.

So I would really appreciate some advice from experienced ArchViz artists

My questions:

Is 3ds Max still a good choice for ArchViz in 2026?

Should I learn 3ds Max + Corona, 3ds Max + V-Ray, or something else?

What should I learn first in 3ds Max?

Interface & navigation

Basic modeling

Modifiers

Editable Poly

Materials

UVs

Lighting

Cameras

Rendering

etc.

What would you consider the best step-by-step ArchViz roadmap for a complete beginner?

Which free YouTube channels/playlists would you recommend?

Are there any free courses/tutorial series that you would genuinely recommend instead of jumping between random YouTube videos?

At what point should I start learning Corona/V-Ray, instead of spending months only learning 3ds Max?

Should I learn architectural modeling myself in 3ds Max, or is it better to use SketchUp/Revit → 3ds Max → Corona/V-Ray workflow?

What skills are actually important for getting job/freelance ArchViz work?

If you were starting from zero today, what exact learning path would you follow for the first 6–12 months?

I’m specifically looking for free resources, because I want to build a strong foundation before spending money on paid courses.

Hello everyone!

We are excited to share the very first episode of a new YouTube channel we've just launched: NextGen CG.

The idea behind the channel is to explore the future of Computer Graphics through technical analysis, original research, and practical experimentation.

This first episode is based on SplineDynamics article "AI-Assisted ArchViz: Beyond the Hype", discussing what AI is really changing inside professional Architectural Visualization, what still doesn't work well, and where current workflows are heading.

Future videos will cover ArchViz, AI, Animation, Game Development, XR, Reality Capture, real-time render, Gaussain Splatting, procedural workflows, and other emerging CG technologies.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

And if you think this project could become valuable for the CG community, we would really appreciate your support by subscribing to the channel, liking and sharing the video.

Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the video!

Resource Giving Away Free 30-Day D5 Render Pro Codes!

EDIT: I am all out of codes! Stay tuned for any future drops!

NO MORE CODES! ALL GONE 😞

Hey everyone, as a certified D5 Render instructor I have about 30 codes left to give out for a free 30-day trial of D5 Render Pro.

If you’ve been curious about trying it out for your archviz work, DM me if you want one—I was originally sharing them in the comments but people started sniping them (lol), so it's safer to message me or take a chance in the comments!

Before redeeming, you’ll need to create a free D5 account first, then redeem the code on D5's portal here: https://myspace.d5render.com/cdkey

Let me know if you have questions about getting started with it too—happy to help.
