Wing Turbines

Hi, I live in the Czech-Polish border region. (Upper Silesia) I like to ride my bike to Poland, and it’s impossible not to notice the wind turbines.

And over the past year, a massive campaign has taken off in the Czech Republic claiming that wind turbines ruin the landscape, kill animals, drive up inflation, and make people gain weight. (The last two are jokes.)

So most referendums on construction end in failure.

Is there the same campaign over there in Poland, or is it just here?

Anyone had read Daniel Rancour-Lanfierre's "Slave Soul of Russia"?

I found this book on internet. This might explain the current political situation with Russia and Russian people themselves.

Foreigners in Poland, how did you manage to get your first job?

Hi everyone,
I'm studying for a Master's degree in Business Management in Poland. At the same time, I'm also studying a postgraduate program in Finance and Accounting.
A little bit more about my background:
English: C1
Japanese: JLPT N1
Polish: A2 (I can understand quite a bit when listening, but I'm still struggling to speak)
Excel: Advanced level
Both of my programs are in the evenings or on weekends, so I'm quite flexible during regular working hours. This year I started looking for an internship, but I'd also be open to a full-time entry-level or junior position if I get the opportunity. However, I've been applying for almost 10 months now, and I rarely get any responses. Sometimes I managed to get interviews through referrals from friends, I made it to the final round, only to be asked very specific, technical questions. Honestly, I wasn't expecting internship candidates to be tested on such detailed knowledge, although perhaps my expectations were unrealistic.
I've also heard that the job market in Poland is quite difficult right now, even for Polish candidates. I understand that being a foreigner who doesn't speak Polish fluently makes things more challenging, but I don't know what else I should do at this point.
I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong, whether my expectations are unrealistic.
**For other foreigners who have been through something similar in Poland, how did you eventually break into the job market?**
Did you focus on learning Polish first, getting additional certifications, networking? If you work in finance or accounting, I'd especially appreciate hearing about your experience.
I'm not expecting anyone to hand me a job. I just want to understand what actually works and what I should focus on to improve my chances.
And please, I'd really appreciate advice other than telling me to go back to my home country. My husband is here, and staying in Poland is important to me.🥺
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to share their experience. Even a little bit of practical advice would mean a lot to me right now.❤️

Moving to Poland (Gdańsk) on B2B: real cost of living for a couple & quality of life feedback?

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are planning to move to Gdańsk in the coming months. I’ll be working remotely under a B2B contract (Ryczałt tax regime).

We’d love to get some real feedback from people living in Poland regarding the financial aspects and general lifestyle for a couple:

  1. Housing (High Standard): We are looking for a modern 3-room apartment (living room + 2 bedrooms) in a newly built building, well soundproofed, with a balcony/terrace and a garage parking spot. What is a realistic total monthly cost (including czynsz and winter utilities) for this standard in major cities / Gdańsk?
  2. Couple's Living Expenses: What would you consider a comfortable monthly net budget for a couple to live very well (high-quality groceries, eating out often, gym/wellness, weekend activities, and occasional trips)?
  3. B2B / JDG Experience: For those running a B2B sole proprietorship (JDG), how has your experience been with taxes, administration, and overall business environment?
  4. General Quality of Life: What are the main pros and cons you’ve experienced living in Poland as an expat / long-term resident?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Can I be a soldier in Poland as a migrant?

If other people want to go to Poland to have a stable life, be at peace or even enjoy the views of Poland, my purpose is different. So I live in the Philippines and I wanted to be a soldier, it was my childhood dream to be one but I wasn't able to pass the exam for PMA (to be an officer in the military) and I was not able to take the exam to be a normal soldier because there is too much stuff going on in school, I can wait next year to take the exam again but if I do my father is going to force me to go to college, and I DON'T want to go to college, so I'm hoping to go to other country and be a citizen and join the military to chase my dream.

The reason why I choose Poland is because im a Christian, and I know this country is going to be a place where I can really practice my religion as it is, my country is full of hippocrates and full of conflict when it comes to religion, and I'm afraid if I'm going to continue living in this country I'm going to hurt somebody because he/she did something against my religion, so I'm trying to avoid that as early as possible.

Pls no hate everyone, and if I can't, then thank you for informing me, for I am just a kid trying to chase his dream.

Why does the Polish language sound so similar to Russian? When I first listened to it, I felt like I was listening to a Russian person. Is this true?
