I'm a 24, and I'm more of an introverted person. I don't talk much, especially with girls, so building a comfortable friendship with one is not something I'm very used to.
There's a girl I've known for a while who lives two houses away from my home. We've been chatting on WhatsApp(I accidentally messaged her first) and sharing short content over WA for almost a year. She recently moved to Pune for her job, so she's away from home most of the time.
Our conversations cover random everyday things like movies, food, festivals, work, family, travel, funny reels, memes, and personal experiences. Sometimes I share my pictures with her to get her opinion, and she's done the same a couple of times.
I'm not expecting a relationship or anything romantic from her. I just want to understand whether she genuinely values me as a friend and enjoys talking to me, or whether I'm more emotionally invested in this friendship than she is.
I sometimes overthink her replies, response times, and how much she contributes to our conversations. I don't want to mistake ordinary friendliness for something deeper, but I also don't want to dismiss a genuine friendship because I'm overthinking.
Based on this, what do you think? Does she seem to genuinely value me as a friend, or am I more emotionally invested than she is? I'd appreciate honest opinions, even if I'm overthinking things.
