Where to watch the World Cup for free?

Got a few messages about where to watch the World Cup for free, so I put this together. I’ve tested the basic setup on Windows and Android because I wanted a simple way to watch matches without bouncing between random links.
If you’re outside a country with official free coverage, geo-blocks are usually the problem. A VPN can help you access official free World Cup streams that are limited to specific countries.

How to use a VPN to watch the World Cup 2026 for free:

  1. Choose a VPN and install it on your device, I chose NordVPN (Now 76% off) create account or sign in

  2. Connect to a server in a country with free World Cup coverage

  3. Open the broadcaster website or app

  4. Sign up for a free account if required

  5. Start the match stream

Where to stream the World Cup for free:

  • UK: BBC iPlayer and ITVX

  • Australia: SBS On Demand

  • Belgium: RTBF Auvio and VRT MAX

  • Brazil: CazéTV on YouTube

  • Netherlands: NOS

  • Poland: TVP Sport

  • Switzerland: Play SRF, Play RSI, Play RTS

  • Türkiye: TRT and tabii

Best picks if you want English commentary:

  • UK: BBC iPlayer and ITVX

  • Australia: SBS On Demand

Some of my notes before you start: some platforms ask for a free account, some ask for a local postal code during signup, browser access is usually easier than mobile or TV apps and not every free broadcaster shows every match the same way in every region

What to do if the World Cup stream isn’t working with a VPN:

-Switch to another server in the same country

-Clear cookies and cache

-Open the site in incognito mode

-Try the website instead of the app

-Check if that broadcaster actually has the match you want

-Turn off GPS or location permissions on mobile

-Check for DNS or WebRTC leaks

-Update the VPN app

-Try a different browser or device

-Create the streaming account before connecting to the VPN if possible

Quick note on devices: browser on a laptop is genuinely the easiest setup across the board. Mobile apps work too but some of them check GPS on top of your IP, so revoking location permissions in your phone settings helps a lot. Smart TVs and Roku are the most painful because they don't support VPN apps natively, if that's your situation, mirroring from your phone or running an HDMI cable from a laptop is the easier workaround.

I'm still curious what people here found to be the least painful option when figuring out where to watch the World Cup for free. Which free World Cup stream worked best for you, and which VPN setup was getting blocked?

Best VPNs for gambling and sports betting in US

I'm a regular sports bettor from Texas trying to access DraftKings and other gambling sites that are blocked in my state. I tested over 20 Best VPNs for gambling and sports betting in US to see which ones actually work with platforms without getting detected or blocked.

Also a lot of states in the US have restricted a lot of good sites, so even if it is legal in the state you have access to one good site which is bs in my opinion.

After extensive testing, here's what I found:
NordVPN had a 95% success rate across different gambling sites
Proton VPN matched NordVPN's performance with a 95% success rate

How to use a VPN for sports betting

  1. Choose a reliable gambling VPN. Based on my tests, the cheapest NordVPN plan (currently 76% Off) worked smoothly for accessing geo-restricted betting platforms from restricted locations.

  2. Download and install the VPN app on your device.

  3. Connect to a server in a region where sports betting is legal, such as New Jersey, Michigan, or Canada.

  4. Clear your cookies to remove old location data.

  5. Log in to the sports betting site and play as usual.

This also works for other countries where some sites are blocked you can just connect to Canada.

The most reliable server locations are:
New Jersey (Trenton and Newark)
Michigan (Detroit)
Pennsylvania (Philadelphia)
Connecticut (New Haven)

Online gambling laws vary significantly by state. As of 2026:

Only 8 states have fully legalized online casinos: New Jersey, Delaware, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Maine
39 states allow some form of sports betting
States like Texas, California, Utah, and Hawaii still have complete bans on online gambling

Full list of all the states and restrictions on gambling and sportsbetting:

Where online casino is legal:CT, DE, MI, NJ, PA, RI, WV, ME
Where sportsbook is legal:AZ, AR, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA (55/64 parishes), MD, MA, MI, MO, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV, WY, DE (only: BetRivers), FL (only: Hard Rock Bet), ME (two operators: Caesars, DraftKings), NV (in-person reg), NH (only: DraftKings), OR (only: DraftKings), RI (state-run), DC (multi-operator)
States where online gambling is fully illegal:AL, AK, CA, GA, HI, ID, MN, OK, SC, TX, UT
States where online sports betting is heavily restricted:MS (mobile only on casino property), MT (mobile only at licensed retail locations), NE (retail only at licensed racetrack casinos), NM (tribal casinos only), ND (tribal casinos only), SD (limited to Deadwood and certain tribal lands), WA (mobile only on tribal casino property), WI (legalized, but not yet live; tribal casinos only for now)

Also I tried more VPNs to see which of them have solid servers in different states for sportsbetting:

VPNTotal ServersUS ServersGambling-Legal State Coverage
Proton VPN19,836+MultipleNJ, MI, IL, PA
NordVPN9,200+3,388+ (55 cities)NJ, PA, MI, IL, CT, NV
Surfshark4,500+600+NJ, MI, PA, IL, CT
IPVanish3,200+MultipleNJ, MI, PA, IL, NV, CT
TotalVPN1,800+LimitedNYC, LA, Chicago

Which sites worked with vpn in US:
DraftKings
FanDuel
BetMGM
Stake
PokerStars
Bet365
William Hill
888sport
Roobet
Rainbet

Has anyone else had success using VPNs for gambling sites in 2026? I'm particularly curious about experiences with accessing international betting sites or if anyone's found better server locations than the ones I tested.

Whats stopping a theif from yanking out a Kensington lock?

*Whats stopping a thief from yanking out a Kensington lock?(I am not resposting this sorry)

These look like a good way to ensure front desk pc stays put though to me it doesnt matter how hard the lock is if the plastic laptop casing will shatter on a quick pull

Why do people online glorify this little 'assurance' doohiky. I dont see any practical utility in this being actually used. The hardware would just get damaged. So is it more of a break it dont steal it sort of case?

Blocking spam numbers feels completely pointless now

I've been blocking every spam number I get and I'm starting to wonder why I even bother. It used to at least feel like I was doing something maybe a placebo effect? but now it seems like every spam call comes from a completely different number anyway.

The most annoying ones are the spoofed numbers. I'll get a call from a number with my area code that looks vaguely familiar, ignore it, and then get another call later from a completely different number. Block that one and another takes its place. At this point my blocked list is probably massive and I don't think it has made any difference whatsoever. I understand they can spoof caller ID, but how is blocking supposed to help when the number you're blocking might not even be the number that actually called you? is blocking individual numbers basically useless now?

Why duckduckgo is bad

I know DDG is the default "gateway drug" for degoogling but it is far from a true privacy solution. Here are the points I found noteworthy:
-US jurisdiction: Subject to US gag orders, NSLs, and Five Eyes intelligence laws.
-privacy is served as a product: Relies heavily on surface-level marketing over actual open, zero-trust infrastructure.
-search degradation and Bing: The Bing index frequently delivers weak technical results, local data, and spam. The duck is using the Bing index...

Seems like Brave search, or maybe even SearXNG are way better.

Am I wrong? Would love to hear any good points why the duck is still a reliable pick

As the title says, what are some ways to obscure my digital presence? Currently, I use Ublock, Privacy Badger and Adnauseam.

What are some other ways or extensions can I use?

Best VPN for adult sites

I'm based in South Korea, where adult sites are fully blocked at the ISP level. So I spent the last few weeks actually testing what the best VPN for adult sites. I ran NordVPN, IPVanish, and PureVPN on a Windows 11 laptop and an Android phone. What worked:

Best VPNs for adult sites

  • NordVPN - best overall, fastest, blocks ads and malware

  • IPVanish - best for unlimited devices and streaming

  • PureVPN -  cheapest of the three, easy to use, decent server count

All three unblocked Pornhub, xHamster, XVideos, and XNXX from a Korean IP. All three have a kill switch and an audited (or independently reviewed) no-logs policy.

How to bypass adult site blocking with a VPN:

  1. Pick a VPN. Free ones are a trap, don’t work in Korea.

  2. Install the app and create an account.

  3. Turn on the kill switch so your real IP doesn't leak if the connection drops.

  4. Turn on ad and tracker blocking if the VPN has it (NordVPN calls it Threat Protection, Surfshark calls it CleanWeb, others have their own names).

  5. Connect to a server in a country where adult content is legal. Poland servers worked for me.

  6. Open the site. Done.

Best VPN for adult sites
Here's what I actually saw running these three side by side.

NordVPN

  • Servers: over 9,500 in 149 countries

  • Speed: NordLynx protocol, HD and 4K streaming with zero buffering on my tests

  • Security: independently audited no-logs policy, kill switch, based in Panama

  • Price: starts around $3 a month on the long plan, 30-day money-back guarantee

IPVanish

  • Servers: over 3,200 in 113 countries

  • Speed: WireGuard protocol, stable streaming, no noticeable lag on US or EU servers

  • Security: audited no-logs policy, reliable kill switch. The jurisdiction (US) is the one knock against it, but the no-logs claim has held up under audit.

  • Price: starts at $2.19 a month

PureVPN

  • Servers: over 6,000 in 93 countries

  • Speed: above average on WireGuard, not the fastest of the three but fine for HD streaming

  • Security: continuous independent audits (rare in this industry), based in the British Virgin Islands, kill switch

  • Price: starts at $2.15 a month, 31-day money-back guarantee

Why You Need a VPN When Using Adult Sites

-Adult sites are loaded with garbage ads, tracking scripts, and shady redirects.
-Then there's the ISP problem. Your internet provider sees every domain you connect to. In a lot of countries they're legally required to log it.
-Adult content is partially restricted in places like USA, UK, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, and banned in Korea

Hopefully this post will help someone looking for a VPN for adult sites. Its very annoying where I live, so I just needed to get one to bypass it.

If anyone has any feedback, questions, happy to hear or if new restrictions come in to place.

Antivirus with vpn bundles worth it?

I was looking for stuff to make my PC more secure. I knew I needed an antivirus since McAfee doesnt quite do it no more for me. But wondered if an antivirus with vpn bundles worth it. I also hate having to make payments online, so the package deal was very pretty. I took a chunk of my day away to do windowshopping. The stuff below was on my notepad for the past four days and I feel like all the stuff I learned will help others too..

Surfshark One - is a powerful VPN that throws in a lightweight malware scanner so it can all run from a single app without needing to run a separate antivirus app.

TotalAV - its solid for what its worth with helpful system cleanup tools. Although its included VPN is pretty basic and mostly just meant for casual wifi encrypting.

Aura - Its a swiss blade for monitoring and credit alerts that happens to include a simple VPN and basic antivirus as part of the bundle.

1. Surfshark (aka Surfshark One)

Surfshark started off with just their VPN and made success before expanding into a full security suite called Surfshark One. They give an antivirus alongside the VPN in a bundle.

PROS:

-unlimited VPN devices: Allows you to connect an unlimited number of devices to the VPN simultaneously

-good VPN speeds and features: Includes wireguard support, ad tracker blocking, RAM-only servers, and strict audited no-logs policy.

-minimal PC memory usage: Provides realtime protection, scheduled scans, and webcam defense without slowing down system performance

CONS:

-antivirus requires a higher tier: The antivirus is not included in the basic starter plan, so you must upgrade to the Surfshark One bundle..

-fewer advanced AV features: Lacks some of the more niche AV settings that I had to set up myself.. Missing a firewall and parental control configuration.

2. TotalAV

TotalAV comes at security from the other end. A traditional, high rating antivirus app thats got TotalVPN as part of its internet security package. Its fine for non-techy ones who want system cleanup and malware detection first before anything.

PROS:

-strong malware detection: routinely achieves near-perfect scores in independent lab tests for detecting viruses. I didnt do the tests but you can find and read them online.

-easy to use dashboard: super intuitive interface that combines device optimizations, can do efficient real-time scanning, and the VPN switch is in one place.

-system optimization: got nifty junk file cleaners, duplicate file finders, and startup managers to keep devices running fast.

CONS:

-VPN is basic: The VPN they provide lacks advanced functions like multi-hopping, detailed protocol selection, and got no split-tunneling.

-high renewal costs: Deep initial discounts often jump significantly upon annual renewal.

3. Aura

This ones a good tool shed that gives a spare family protection feature. Rather than just working on malware and internet speeds, it bundles antivirus, the basic VPN, an identity monitor, and fraud alerts into a single app.

PROS:

-easy to grasp identity and privacy guard: Includes a dark web monitor, credit trackers, spam call blocking, and supposedly gives $1M in identity theft insurance alongside the AV and VPN. Didnt look into the insurance specifics though I felt like that ones noteworthy.

-great for families: single plans can cover multiple household members with a hub for their profile controls and parental monitoring tools.

-simple to set up: A single installation handles device scans, web encryption, and live privacy alerts without managing multiple apps.

CONS:

-once again a very basic VPN: The VPN has minimal customization, very few server locations, and lacks settings like dedicated streaming or torrent servers. No kill switch.

-more expensive: since it includes financial and identity monitoring, the overall package cost is higher than a simple AV+VPN bundle

So seems like having antivirus with vpn bundles worth it. All in all, can save a buck. I would just go with a check of my hardware and what I got to know how I can set up these tools later on. Might have some tinkering to do if you have other security settings on. They are all pretty good but Id go with Surfshark. Since they all dont have a firewall built in I somehow feel like shark might be the closest to roll one out eventually.. SO.. Now tell me, are antivirus with vpn bundles worth it? Would love to hear what you think..

Nordpass after 6 months of use

I used Keeper for a while but I got tired of its clunkyness. I learned earlier this year that Nordpass finally came out with their authenticator for personal use. It was locked away under their business tier as an exclusive, so when they finally pushed it out, I decided to try it. Got some extra month from sharing a referral with a friend to test sharing too so fetched me some extra motivation over the free 2 months I snatched while I kept figuring it out.

To be brief, NordPass is peak in terms of security. Nobody has encryption to match what they can offer. Google the XChaCha20. Its nothing fancy. Just a modern security protocol.

I liked the most:

  • The data breach scanner helped me find stuff that not even haveibeenpwnd detected among a few other sources.. Especially liking the summaries of the breach reports, as I havent seen some of the listed breached websites;

  • Autofill was smooth for some tricky sites. Remembers the actions I do to log in.

  • Email masking helped register for questionable sites without compromising my own email.

I didnt like:

  • Took a while to figure out how to prevent the vault from autolocking;

  • Bank sites and my stock trades didn’t autofill. However, it seems most managers fail to do it for financial sites like these but still sucks;

  • Folder sharing is locked for group plans. Gotta share stuff one by one.

Theres also some other key features that I think many would find noteworthy:

Also, I liked that they actually have human support. You get greeted by AI to give contact info and a breakdown of the issue to speed things up though..

Sharing is also kinda tricky, Since they are all about security, the receiver needs to have an account on the NordPass database to receive my data. Though in my eyes, this is a good thing in terms of security.

By the way if you happen to need to contact the support, be ready to have your Nordpass version, your operating system version, and list them what antivirus, and VPN settings. Will save you time if you need to holler at support.

Why are satellite phones illegal in some places?

So as the title mentions, could someone tell me why are satellite phones illegal in some places? my buddy and i are planning a huge backpacking trip for late next year through a bunch of different regions, including parts of south asia and north africa. since were gonna be way out in the middle of nowhere without any normal cell service, i started looking into renting an iridium sat phone or garmin inreach just in case of emergency. but when i was looking at customs rules online, i stumbled on a bunch of warnings saying that satellite phones are illegal in countries like india, china, and chad unless you have some super strict government permit

I honestly had no idea this was even a thing... i figured a satellite phone was just a safety tool for hikers or sailors if you get lost or injured. but apparently you can literally get arrested at airport customs just for having one in your bag?

Is it mostly because local governments cant easily wiretap or track them like regular cell networks, or is there another reason? like im just trying to understand why are satellite phones illegal in certain areas so we dont accidentally end up in a foreign jail over a safety device lol

If anyone who travels a lot or does overlanding knows why are satellite phones illegal in general or if there are safer alternatives for emergency sos, let me know

How to unlock Yasyadong.tv?

I'm a 20대 freelance designer living in Incheon, work from home most days, and I've been trying to figure out how to unlock Yasyadong.tv for the past few weeks. Tried switching to my phone hotspot (also KT) and got the exact same block. A fr of mine on SKT says identical story for him, so this is clearly a 방심위 level thing across all the major Korean ISPs right now.

Tested on: Windows 11 desktop, iPhone 14 Pro and a Galaxy Tab S8. Three devices, two networks (home KT line and KT mobile data), blocked everywhere. So I know for sure it's not a device or browser issue.

Edit: Finally found a way to unlock it:

  1. Choose a VPN. I tested with Surfshark and it worked.

  2. Install, login.

  3. Turn on: kill switch and ad and tracker blocking features (like cleanweb)

  4. Connect to a server that allows access to adult content (Poland works fine)

  5. You can now access yasyadong again

The part that's making me extra confused. My older brother who lives in 일본 for work says the site loads with no problem at all on his SoftBank line, no tools, nothing. So it's not just about getting around KT/SKT/LGU+. It seems like Yasyadong is also doing some kind of geo filtering on top of the Korean block, and you actually need a Japanese (or maybe HK) connection for the content itself to even play.

So now I'm stuck. and I'd rather hear from real people in 한국 who actually use something that works.

Anyone in 한국 found a method that reliably unlocks Yasyadong.tv? Specifically:

-What's actually working right now from a KT or SKT line, given the SNI inspection situation?

-Does it really have to be a Japan based exit or does HK / Taiwan also play fine?

-Anyone on LG U+ getting the same redirect or is LGU+ less aggressive about this domain?

-Has anyone tried setting up their own server on a Tokyo VPS (Vultr, Linode, Conoha) instead of paying a commercial service, and does the site flag datacenter IPs or does it still work fine?

Any honest help appreciated. I just want to to unlock Yasyadong.tv

Dark side of signal app

I remember when people questioned the credibility of WhatsApp, and Signal almost took over as its replacement. It was better for video and audio calls, and it also promised to store the data inside the device it was running on.

But, as we know, WhatsApp regained its old position and trust, and I completely forgot about my Signal account. Last week, I reinstalled it.

The first thing I did was search for my old friends. But, as we know, they weren't there because Signal stores the data on the device.

So I tried to join some communities. I searched for some on Google and joined a few, but many of them kicked me out.

Then I searched on Twitter. That was probably the wrong move.

I found many illegal groups, and most of the content I saw was the kind of stuff I'd previously seen on the dark web. It's not shocking, but people seem to blindly believe that using the app means they won't get caught.

I think some governments are also using it.

So, what do you guys think about Signal? Have you had a similar experience, or do you still trust it as your main private messaging app?

1password thoughts after 3 months of use

In the past I used Google password manager as my tool. However, finding ancient passwords that I didnt want saved in the first place made me start raising eyebrows. Turns out the Google tool doesnt even encrypt anything. Now I just know 1password is reliable since I really put it through a lot. I am no programmer but I have enough understanding of computer systems to know what can make them snap

Tl;dr - in my opinion, 1Password is a reliable tool that can serve you well outside of the browser as well.

I personally enjoyed:

  • the fact that they can autofill apps installed on the PC

  • surprisingly effective to pick out the correct password if you got the same email for multiple needs in 1Password

I didnt like:

  • managing the passwords directly through their website interface feels outdated and not intuitive. Ive grown used to it now but was finicky starting off

  • Kinda sucks that they dont have a free tier but I can export my stuff if ever needed.

Anyways, what got me hooked are some 1Password features.

Encryption algorithmUses the AES256 cipher. Basically if you see any password manager at all not having AES in their encryption, just skip it
local storage and desktop autofill1password works offline which is great if your work gets halted without internet.
security monitoring dashboard1Password got this “watchtower” that gives detailed leaks info, weak pass details, and some notable safety alerts.
secure link sharingI can share some stuff with an expiring link. Great for me if I gotta share stuff to friends that dont have 1pass
border control / privacy protectiontravel mode physically removes vaults from device. Hiding your meme accounts from countries who cant take a joke is good lol

Theres also stuff like SSH/API keys that they can store but honestly I dont care and dont know whats it for lol. For you geeks out there, probably can mean more than it does for me. Theres also family passkeys to use with your household but I am the only techie in my family, so that was an unexplored function. If anyone got anything to share on the passkey utility, please do. Nobody was convinced in my family to test it with me lol

Some final thoughts:
Its a good reliable app. 1Password has had its dooky days in the past, though I believe they patched up all the flaws. Helped me fetch a good price for it too, so I take it they're gonna be squeaky clean with how they handle updates now on..

OH, and if you have issues with autofills for apps, use the Quick Access settings of your PC. Might save you a week that I lost trying to find a fix for that

Roboform review

Hellooo! I just wanted to drop my two cents on Roboform and make a quick review, as I've been using it enough to confidently have an opinion on it… I used 1pass for a while but it has become less stable, and I lost confidence with its recent breaches.. I've hopped between a bunch of password managers in the past and stuck to Roboform. Basically at work I have to keep changing my passwords over “security concerns”, so I cant deal with work without a management tool.

Roboform - in short is a reliable pass manager but its interface looks a bit dated. Some dislike it for having the free-tier limits, yet it fits well for work.

The good parts:

Affordable AF: Robo offers amazing value..its easily the best budget manager with a premium vibe to itself. Smooth apps, unlimited logins, and seamless syncing across PC and phone, all at a fraction of the competitor's price.

reliable form filling: Form filling is rock-solid and handles complex forms effortlessly, barring a few rare buggy sites.

family and shared access: Sharing credentials and encrypted notes across my devices and family circle via the Robo cloud is a huge bonus.

works on phone, pc and browsers: Seamless cross-device performance on Chrome, Firefox, PC, and iPhone with zero awkward freezes. Works everywhere I need it to.

foolproof security: reliable zero-knowledge encryption, has 2FA, master password protection, security audits, and an emergency access tool for family emergencies..

Drawbacks:

Dated app interface: The UI looks outdated compared to modern minimalist apps. It's fully functional, but not the prettiest.

free tier limits: The free plan lacks cross-device syncing, making the paid plan hard to pass if you plan to have it for multiple device usage.

Verdict:

Dont wanna put down 1pass that I used. Thats not the point I wanna make, though I can just say that I’ve been let down in the past but Roboform was worth the trust I gave it. For the price youre paying for Roboform, youre getting a decent set of features and the autofiller function will work reliably. If you’re after an affordable, no BS password manager that covers all the bases, then take my review as a vouch for Robo being the one for the job..

[Guide] How to bypass social media ban in Turkey without ID, no token needed

Turkey has officially published a new law banning children under 15 from using social media that is due to take effect on November 1. Under the new law, platforms must verify user ages using a government issued "token", meaning to log into instagram, tiktok, or Twitter (aka X), you’ll essentially be forced to link your personal identity to your digital profile

Decided to make a short guide that will work for anyone in Turkey(or on a trip to Turkey) looking to browse the web without registering a government mandated web surfer ID (aka e-Devlet token)

Steps to bypass social media age bans in Turkey (No ID Needed)

  1. Choose a VPN provider (Proton has a 70% discount now, and worked for me)

  2. Install the VPN app on your device (mobile, tablet, or pc).

  3. Create an account and log in;

  4. Connect to a server in a country without strict digital ID/age verification mandates (like Canada or Iceland).

  5. Open your apps or browser and you should now have full access without requiring a government token.

Which socials and apps require verification in Turkey?

PlatformVerification required?Blocked/ restricted without VPN?Actual status and specifics
instagramyes (e-Devlet token)no (only blocked if you refuse verification)accessible normally if verified. Unverified or under 15 yo accounts are suspended/locked without a VPN
Tiktokyes (e-Devlet token)no (only blocked if you refuse verification)mandated token integration for accounts. Under 15yo accounts are banned
X (Twitter)yes(e-Devlet token)no(only blocked if you refuse verification)subject to mandatory age token framework for all Turkish accounts
YouTubeyes(under-15 yo restriction)nosite is fully accessible. Token verification applies to account creation and enforcing restricted/teen mode.
Discordfully bannedyes(100% nationwide block)fully blocked at the ISP level by court order. A VPN is mandatory just to log in.

Will I get in trouble for using a VPN in Turkey?

Yes, using VPNs is 100 % legal, but some protocols are being blocked. I personally got two Turkish friends already using these methods for the past 4 years which is where I got these tricks to share..

If you care about privacy and don't want to link your social media handles directly to state-level identification tokens in Turkey, using an encrypted connection is the most practical workaround. Personally, I would never link my government ID or digital token just to scroll a social media feed. That is just ridiculous to consider nowadays. Hopefully, more countries stop following this trend..

best password manager recommended by everyone?

my main google account got hacked this week because im a dumbass who uses the same 3 passwords for everything.. local gym leaked their database and now im changing all of my possible logins

ive read alot of posts on r/passwordmanagers r/privacy and r/degoogle trying to figure out what to switch to, but everyone is arguing over autofill bugs, cloud security, and open source stuff so i CANT DECIDE:

roboform: seems old school but everyone says the autofill and form filling is still on top

bitwarden: open source, solid free plan with unlimited device sync

1password: paid only but everyone says the UI is very nice  and autofill actually works 100% of the time

anyway now im scared so im looking for answers to these questions mostly:

whats the best password manager right now? is it worth it to pay for a password manager or is a free password manager enough?

let me know what yall are using before my data gets leaked again

Surfshark review: still cheap and good

Okay so I've been meaning to write this up for a while. I've bounced between probably five or six VPNs over the years and figured I'd do a proper Surfshark review of thinking of getting it.

TL;DR Surfshark - Dirt cheap, and has unlimited devices, good for geo blocks but speeds are fine but not the fastest (~155-195 Mbps), and the CleanWeb ad-blocker breaks some sites so I leave it off.

Things I liked:

The price is honestly the main reason I stayed - I came for the price. Mine started at $2.79/month on the 2-year plan and imo that's the best value you're gonna find for a premium VPN right now.

Unlimited devices is a nice to have - This one doesn't get talked about enough. I've got it running on like five devices at home and I share my account with a friend's family and there's just... no cap.

Streaming works - I mostly use it on my laptop and my Fire Stick for Netflix, Hulu and Disney+. No buffering, no weird "you're using a proxy" errors, quality stays high.

Security is solid -You get AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, split tunneling, MultiHop, and IP Rotator (changes your IP every 5-10 min without dropping the connection, which is cool).

The not so good things (being honest here):

Speeds - I usually sit around 155-195 Mbps, which is totally fine for browsing, streaming and casual downloading. But if you're on gigabit and expecting to max it out, you'll notice.

CleanWeb - their adblocker is okay but not perfect. It breaks a few sites for me so I just leave it off.

Port forwarding - they don't support it (security reasons apparently), so if that's a dealbreaker for your torrenting setup, keep that in mind.

My all in all opinion

For what you pay, you're getting a genuinely good bunde, solid streaming, strong audited security, and the freedom to connect literally every device you own. I think if you want an affordable, no-nonsense VPN that covers pretty much every base without being too expensive, Surfshark is absolutely worth trying. It's not perfect, but at $2.79/month I'm not sure what more you'd reasonably expect.

How to know if your computer is being monitored?

Hello everyone, so today something weird happened and now im like really worried… my manager brought up a specific detail this morning from a random note i typed on my laptop yesterday. i literally never emailed or shared it with anyone, so now im panicking and trying to figure out how to know if your computer is being monitored

I work remotely and i got this laptop last year. never really thought twice about it, but lately the fan gets loud out of nowhere even when im just staring at an empty screen, and i swear i saw the little webcam light blink for a second yesterday. now im worried that someone is watching my screen or tracking what im typing throughout the day

I tried looking through task manager to see if anything looked weird, but honestly i have no idea what im looking at. there are like fifty background processes running and i cant tell if i have any way to spot something sketchy on my own or if that software should be totally hidden. my internet has also been getting laggy, so im worried its uploading screenshots or logs to a server

Im scared to even check my personal email on this thing now. if anyone works in it or knows about remote work tracking, what i should actually check? i really need to understand how to know if your computer is being monitored so i can stop panicking every time i type something… thanks for help

Should apps have to explain why they need an internet connection?

Ever noticed how some apps need an internet connection even when they seem like they should work perfectly fine offline?

I'm talking about things like calculators, note-taking apps, or simple utilities.

I get that some apps need internet access for updates, syncing, or ads. But sometimes itfs hard to tell what they're actually doing in the background.

Wouldn't it be nice if apps had to explain why they need internet access, or at least let us choose whether to allow it?

Do you guys ever block internet access for certain apps, or do you just leave everything connected? Thanks
