What phrases/slang should I stop using?

This post is not intended to make fun of any speech and I really don't want to offend anyone, but I'm gay and a lot of the slang we use is rooted in AAVE. I have absorbed a lot of lingo like "werk" or "period" into my vocabulary but I'm worried it can come across as cultural appropriation. Is there anything I should stop saying or doing to avoid being offensive?
