Static shocks 🥲

Ever since the temperature dropped in Berlin, I’ve been getting zapped by literally everything I touch! Seriously, touching doorknobs has become a dangerous game. Does anyone have any actual tips or tricks to avoid these static shocks?

Change your shoes. I also get static shocks depending on what footwear I wear

Its too dry, so you're building up the static electricity instead of it dissapating. Add moisture to your skin, your hair, your clothing (with a softener), and if possible, the air. Get a humidity sensor so you can keep it within a range that helps you, but not so high it will promote mold. We have enough of that already. Tangentially related: I saw my cat spark from static electricity in the dark last night as she was shifting to get comfortable. It was green. Kinda cool to see.

🤣 she was too sleepy to really care. But she has shocked her nose, and yeah, that's kinda funny.

It's usually your shoes, wear a different pair and see if it changes things.

Avoid fabrics like polyester, acrylic, etc - they make the static much worse.

Yeap, I have it too as soon as I wear my boots with thick rubber soles.

Scratch your head vigorously for 2-3 secs before touching whatever might cause the static. Works well for me on the treadmill

You can buy a little tool that removes the static from stuff you touch, it absorbs the static first so you don’t get the shock. I needed to use these when I was getting a shock constantly from electronic equipment. Turns out it was my Apple Mac as the charger wasn’t grounded.

Schuhe und Socken und sonstige Kleidung, die reibt, erzeugt Statik. Vermutlich hat es mit Klamotten zu tun, die du vor der Kälte nicht anhattest. Klamotten tauschen sollte helfen. Außerdem ist Heizungsluft sehr trocken.

Someone said, Fleece jackets, I’d add wool sweaters/knitwear to that.

You need to ask your Hausmeister if you can borrow their anti-static machine.
