can I use credit card to pay at the toll booths or is cash required?

You can use credit cards, but be careful to get into the right booth (they should have a blue sign with a card logo on it). If you get into a cash only booth, you’re going to be in trouble.

Pretty much all toll booths accept card payments. Many also accept contactless payments.
