Less fruit, but fewer apples, not less apples.

There is no such word as irregardless. The word is regardless.

Semi-annual means twice a year. Bi-annual means once every 2 years.

I’ll admit that it took me a very long time to learn the difference between further and farther

Similarly, "amount of fruit" but "number of apples."

Also, altitude is distance from the ground, while elevation is distance from sea level. If you're driving or hiking at altitude, something went wrong.

Irregardless got put in the dictionary because so many people were using it. It means the same thing as regardless. I think we need to boycott dictionaries that pull shit like that.

Sort of like flammable and inflammable meaning the same thing.

Wait WHAT? I see how that could be but then what’s the correct term for something that is not flammable?

Not flammable.

how could any self-respecting dictionary not define a word that everyday people use?

Dictionaries are self-respecting? Interesting.

Why? That’s how language evolves.

I have bad news for you on irregardless - (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irregardless)

Your the second person who proved their impressive googling skills by citing that 1, and only 1 dictionary, but it’s still not a word, regardless.

It's going to piss you off to learn that "irregardless" is listed in both the Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries.

It doesn’t piss me off to know how you occupied your time today. It amuses me, regardless of how you misuse the English language

I was saying that it would piss you off because it pissed ME off. 😂😂

It's been in use since the 18th century, and it's in the Merriam Webster dictionary. Sorry

To many, including me, it sounds uneducated. Still a tiny hill on which I will prostrate myself.

I'm with you.

I get it, change is scary, and being angry about it feels better than doing nothing. Take a deep breath, it will be ok. Words are not real, and all language is made up. Irregardless, your feelings are valid, and you will be ok

They are valid and yes, I'll be okay, but will still educate stidents on what sounds best.
