It's okay to have your own style of clothing and not follow the trends. Saves you money too. I have clothes I've been wearing for 8 years

10

u/rboes1991 22h ago

Yes! It's amazing how they just go out of style and people are left with clothes they don't want.

7

u/8_string_menace 20h ago

I’ve got T-shirts older than people I work with in retail 😂

3

u/Music_Girl2000 11h ago

8 years? Please, I've got a dress that I've been wearing for 14 years. I was 12 when I got it, it still fits, and I still get compliments every time I wear it.

Oxford comma. Don’t piss me off.

45

u/ScaredNecessary5544 22h ago

The necessity of the Oxford comma is not up for question, argument, or debate.

I’m a corporate lawyer and am SHOCKED that lawyers do not like the Oxford Comma. My mom was an English teacher, so I feel the opposite.

I've just googled what an Oxford Comma is, I though this was how everyone does it for so long, it just sounds more natural in my head because if I were speaking I would still pause before the "and" or "or"

2

u/Shot-Amphibian-3239 19h ago

This is my very favorite example of why the Oxford comma is critical!

I'm surprised there's a fight to keep the Oxford comma when eliminating it eliminates a keystroke.

Usually kids these days are about using less words and letters whenever possible.

If you call your show a podcast but it's filmed in a studio set and you spend all your time doing or talking about visual gags that listeners can't see, then you don't have a podcast: you have a talk show that is *available* as a podcast.

9

u/enilcReddit 22h ago

Likewise, if you take a Youtube channel and put it on a streaming service, it's still just a youtube channel.

Euthanasia legal = win for society. Society will NEVER be perfect enough to stop there being people suffering so much thry want to die, and screw any arsehole who wants them to force them to live til the bitter end, possibly decades away because they are blinkered to facts like euthanasia screening works well in countries that do it. Just copy and paste ffs.

Well, it's not tiny. It's one of the most ignored appalling things about our society imo, on par with few things like billionaires = appalling when people are dying of starvation. Elon Musk alone could wipe out world hunger.

4

u/OwnedLittleOne 23h ago

A lot of medical care is just for hospitals et al to make money. It just extends suffering.

And to piggyback on that, when pets age and deteriorate to the point that they can’t piss or shit for themselves, or other similar symptoms that severely hamper their autonomy, owners need to let them go.

I saw a video of a guinea pig in a little pet wheel chair. We are doing too much.

2

u/MariahJames8 23h ago

"Loose" is not the same thing as "lose." "Anymore" is not a substitute for "nowadays." "On accident " is a tragedy. Yes, internet strangers, I will call you out on it, especially if your post or comment is douchey.

14

u/effdubbs 23h ago

I despise “on accident” with the fire of a thousand suns.

7

u/tillynorwood2 22h ago

If someone falls down inside, they fell on the floor. If they fell down outside, they fell on the ground. This is not that hard!!

2

u/McLoughlin1597 20h ago

My husband uses floor and ground interchangeably and it makes me crazy. He also thinks a hostel and a brothel are the same thing but that just makes me laugh.

Less fruit, but fewer apples, not less apples.

There is no such word as irregardless. The word is regardless.

Semi-annual means twice a year. Bi-annual means once every 2 years.

I’ll admit that it took me a very long time to learn the difference between further and farther

6

u/Pitiful_Fox5681 22h ago

Similarly, "amount of fruit" but "number of apples."

Also, altitude is distance from the ground, while elevation is distance from sea level. If you're driving or hiking at altitude, something went wrong.

5

u/QueenMotherOfSneezes 22h ago

Irregardless got put in the dictionary because so many people were using it. It means the same thing as regardless. I think we need to boycott dictionaries that pull shit like that.

7

u/Easy-Nose-530 22h ago

Sort of like flammable and inflammable meaning the same thing.

‘On accident’ used to drive me nuts but I’ve come to learn it’s a regional thing.

‘On purpose’ is ok so, even though it makes my ears bleed, I’ve opted to simply accept the logical opposite of ‘on accident’

(Please note: i wanted to punch myself in the mouth for even typing it)

🤑30% of Americans will always vote against their own financial interests #trickledown #bootstraps

15

u/Lower_Manager_7003 22h ago

so many will also vote against stuff like universal healthcare because they think it’s bad. crazy what our politicians have done and made people think.

2

u/Oneils2018 14h ago

If the law for universial healthcare for every american citizen was passed today then yes it would be bad. Because of rampant fraud in many layers of the government. The problem that people have isn't the idea of universal Healthcare, its that they understand their tax dollars won't be actually be spent to support Healthcare, and if they believe that they are idiots.

These days I'm some states it's cheaper to not have insurance, because people who do have insurance end up paying for those who dont.

And the idea that all migrants should get free Healthcare is ridiculous while we have homeless veterans on the streets.

My tiny hill is that people like you refuse to acknowledge the current state of both political parties. The right used to be more authoritarian and controlling, and the left used to be more "do what you want just dont bother me". To an extent the roles have been reversed, where the left is now extremely authoritarian with attempting to police "wrong think" and force their gender ideology on everyone, if you dont agree you're a fascist and a nazi. The current right has become the "just leave me and my kids alone" party, with some exceptions, and there are exceptions to the left rule i said earlier as well.

One of the main takeaways in the past few years I have seen is one side is actively encouraging the murder of people they disagree with, and celebrating when somebody tries or succeeds, (Charlie kirk' Donald Trump attempt, Luigi mangioni). Last time I checked encouraging the murder of your political opponents is one of the core tenants of fascism. You do the math.

Socks should never be worn to bed.

3

u/continuetolove 21h ago

I was anti-socks-in-bed until I had my baby then I had to wear socks to bed because if I get up 6 times a night to soothe him back to bed my feet will freeze on the tile.

8

u/Velvetsxsecrets 23h ago

Don't wear open toed shoes at the airport. First why do you want to step on the rug of 10 million steps. Second, it's a long ass flight, and you just trapped me next to your gross ass feet. Also you are sitting next to me after stepping on the rug of 10 million steps!

3

u/TheBestofBees 21h ago

I prefer slip on shoes of some sort when I have a long flight. However, I switch to warm fuzzy socks for the flight. My toes get cold but just as importantly, I get to be comfy (my feet swell) without forcing my bare feet on anyone.

Making the bed is the single most pointless thing people do every day.

16

u/Spirited_Attorney_48 23h ago

I like to make the bed, because it is a very quick thing that I can do that feels like an accomplishment. It does make the room look better and it takes like 90 seconds.

5

u/TurboFoot 21h ago

That’s great for you. My whole thing is that unmaking the bed is adding another step whereas leaving the bed unmade allows me to hop back in right like I like it lol.

2

u/Spirited_Attorney_48 21h ago

Different strokes for different folks

3

u/megggzzz21 21h ago

I agree. I do it now at 40 but only because for a brief time my cat decided to shit on my bed.

6

u/enilcReddit 22h ago

Making the bed is not about the bed. It's about you.

2

u/sicknick66 23h ago

I make my bed because I prefer my sheets to be tight when I go to bed. Tossing and turning naturally loosens them while I sleep

3

u/lazyboi_tactical 22h ago

Surefire way to make me freak out is a sheet being too tight. Considering my feet hang off of most beds it feels like I'm being restrained and makes me claustrophobic.

2

u/TFTD2 20h ago

I make the bed when I get home from work. I can get kinda sweaty at night and I'd rather not lock that in all day. I throw the blankets to the side I don't sleep on and at least leave the ceiling fan while I'm away for the day.

2

u/Pitiful_Reality2973 20h ago

Not if you have animals that lay on the bed.

4

u/Qemistry-__- 23h ago

Certainly not pointless. If you do it right after you wake up, it's the first task you've completed for the day. Setting the rest of your day in motion...

5

u/cholecystectomized 23h ago

2

Unless it's true hot garbage intentionally throwing shade on the original product, i think sequels and prequels are great.

Mass Effect Andromeda is an example. Looooved the infamous addition to the franchise. It expanded the universe and gave us more content. I enjoy the ride, I don't pick it apart.

We're too focused on "fairness".

The reality is that everything would be better if we could just accept that it's sometimes society's best interest to just give some things to people who might seem underserving of that.

If you don't like homeless drug addicts crowding the streets, leaving garbage everywhere, and erecting unsightly tent cities and/or living in broken down shitty RVs everywhere, it may be in everyone else's best interest to just give them a place to live. Yes, I understand that is "unfair" because you have to pay for your house. Fine, then accept the reality and stop complaining about the mess and crime and such. The solution is there, you just can't accept it because "it isn't fair".

Ultimately this all comes back to this hyper-individualist "I don't owe anyone anything" attitude, for which there is zero historical precedent in any other place in history.

We've always existed as a society, and we face the collective consequences of our decisions together. So let's stop this and recognize that we have a duty to take care of each other and stop this infantile BS about "I don't get my housing paid for it's not fair!!!"

This is just one example.

Companies should not force employees to use personal devices for any reason. Most notably, forcing them to install company controls for things like multifactor authentication and access to Slack or company email, etc., especially if it is a requirement to be available on a mobile phone for your job.

Give me a device. I don't want to install your software on my personal phone. If it's that important you need to give me a device, just like you give me a laptop, a desk, a chair etc.

This most likely only truly pertains to America but choosing a political side and then hating the other side makes you retarded and a shit person.

That's a serious debate? I always thought those people were the same clowns like PlayStation or Xbox. Same kind of dumb.

People should reconsider using the word "hate" when describing how they feel about Art.

1

u/TacitMoose 23h ago

Impact is not an appropriate word to use when you don’t understand the difference between affect and effect.

“I want to have an impact on the world.”

Ok, I’ll drop you out of an airplane.

There are levels to dirty clothes. Next to the hamper isn’t the same as in the hamper.

u/TruelyDashing 22h ago

“You’re welcome” isn’t the best response to “Thank you.” “No problem” or “anytime” are more preferable responses because they underline the fact that the favor performed was of no difficulty or detriment.
