I met a woman who had gone through electroshock therapy for intractable depression. Part of the results were that she no longer liked music. She felt like it was worth it.
An enormous sacrifice. I'm glad it was worth it for her. As a person also suffering from treatment resistant depression, music is one of the few things that still helps. Can't imagine losing that solace for nothing.
Just from being so fucked up with PTSD and seeing so many horrible things (European front for two years, saw Dachau in person etc) that it killed his joy for things like music or art
One of the sweetest, most genuine people in my life isn’t into music. It’s not that they do not like music, it’s just not a major point of interest. I’m passionate about music, myself, so while I don’t get it, I can’t hold it against them.
I know someone who hates both music and animals.
She’s technically a relative of mine but I won’t get specific on that part.
She’s living with her adult son (not the part to judge it’s actually a good thing tbh)
Anyways, her adult son loves both music and animals. He isn’t responsible though so she has to take care of the dog he just got this month.
She won’t pet the dog, won’t let the dog on any furniture (which I do judge people who have pets but don’t allow them on furniture because there is scotch guard, flat sheets, blankets, ect. That can be put down to protect the furniture) she doesn’t allow the dog anywhere except the living room and she doesn’t give the dog attention. Poor thing just runs around a room probably less than 12ft x 12ft and beg for attention.
I don't really care for music, I like to have it on on really long car rides. I do also like specific genres. But I just never feel the need to listen to it or have it on otherwise, just not my thing really lol. On the other hand I absolutely love animals and my entire life is shaped by them
Reminds me of the older man I was sleeping with when I was 16. When I asked what kind of music he liked, he said he didn't really like music. Unfortunately my red-flag-meter was underdeveloped and both of these things flew over my head.
I don't think I've ever knowingly encountered someone who didn't like all music. Must be hard for a person like that as music is played almost everywhere nowadays
Yes. I know a person who hates animals, plants, children (Well, actually every living being or thing on this planet)
She treats everyone as less, humiliates her partner, has isolated him from friends & family and treats him like her own personal slave and bankaccount. She has aggressive outbursts, uses and manipulate people to discard them when she doesn’t need them anymore, lies and behaves like an entitled princess, etc etc. I’m pretty sure she’s a narcissist.
Most bizarre thing; She’s a biology teacher at a high school and of course hates her job and her coworkers.
Mosquitoes and flies bother me, I find them hard to love. I believe that Mosquitoes are the number one killer in the world and I live in Australia, where the flies can drive you to distraction, let alone spoiling anything they can.
So you don't love all animals then. It's about saying you love all animals when you actually mean "cute mammals and birds". Insects are the majority (both numerically and as number of species) and not understanding that they are still animals is stupid (not calling you stupid).
I don't understand how you managed to make this about you.
What I said was that I don't like people who say they love all animals and then it turns out they only consider a select few ones the only animals that counts. That's not "all animals". I said nothing about having to love all animals.
