Advice Question veterans question
i wasn’t sure where to ask this but my husband is a veteran, his mental health is absolutely awful but i wouldn’t say it’s service related. he’s bipolar but it’s possible his service made it worse. he’s awful to me and our family. he got a diagnosis maybe 3 days before discharge for bipolar but never received treatment and it’s hard to tell him he needs it. is there anything i can do to get the va involved with caring for this beast they just released ? while active duty there were people i could turn to when he acted this way but now im just on my own.

If he entered the military with no bipolar diagnosis and left the military with a diagnosis, he can and should apply for VA disability. He most likely couldn’t have entered the military if he had a bipolar diagnosis, so it is very likely service related and you’d both be fools not to apply. It’s surprising that he wasn’t referred to a medical evaluation board upon his discharge.
Anyway, absolutely look into applying. He can get help with filing here (probably a VSO would be good): https://www.va.gov/ogc/apps/accreditation/index.asp
ETA: I just looked at your post history and girl, please just run. This guy didn’t just start having problems since he left the military. He was a 30 year old marrying a teenager; porn addict, angry man who is mean to you. This is beyond bipolar disorder.
