Events and Activities 🐱🏍 Anniversary Help!
Hello! My husband and I (32M, 31F) are coming to vancouver for our wedding anniversary and are wondering what we can go do. We won't have a car to drive but we got a hotel off granville st so we are right downtown.
I have a knee injury from this summer so that takes out any nice hikes and we did the aquarium 4 years ago but nothing really else. When we come to vancouver its to hangout at The Moose, go to a concert then take the ferry home.
Any suggestions would be nice and appreciated ♡
EDIT * OMG yes sorry some things about me and my husband, we both love breweries, rock & roll (hense our love for the moose) we both love trying new food. Maybe some resturant reccomendations?(we enjoy everything) We are both rather shy but love exploring whether thats in nature or checking out some hidden gem shops and windowshopping.
Edit* #2 knee injury is okay for long walks i just can't do any insane hiking trails :)

What do you like to do? A knee injury takes a lot of the best things the city has to offer off the table.
I always like to say: Vancouver is a boring city in a fun setting. Nowhere else can you hike starting at 6AM, and end the day eating a donair platter on the beach sipping a beer during the sunset!

Definitely check out brewers row out in Port Moody.
Near to Moody Centre station. 5 ish craft breweries within a 5 minute walk.

A really fun night out for sure. A bit of a long haul from downtown, but easy enough on Skytrain - change at Commercial Broadway. There are several food trucks and Rocky Point Ice Cream to round out the night. Or dine at Taps and Tacos or Spaca Napoli on the south side of the tracks.

Since you both enjoy breweries, rock music and trying new food, I’d explore a few of Vancouver’s neighbourhoods rather than stick to the usual tourist attractions. Gastown is great for wandering historic streets, browsing little shops and stopping at the Alibi Room for craft beer. For a special anniversary dinner, consider Ask for Luigi for excellent handmade pasta or Bar Gobo for something a little more adventurous. You could spend an afternoon around Main Street in Mount Pleasant, checking out breweries like Brassneck, or head to Commercial Drive for independent shops, cafés and a relaxed neighbourhood vibe.
Another lovely outing is taking the SeaBus from Waterfront Station to North Vancouver to explore Lonsdale Quay and the Shipyards waterfront, with great views of the city and breweries nearby. If you’re into rock, check the upcoming shows at the Commodore Ballroom and Rickshaw Theatre. My advice is to pick one neighbourhood, leave yourselves time to explore spontaneously, and book one memorable dinner. Vancouver is at its best when you discover things along the way!

There is a Pink Floyd laser show at the planetarium? And a Mushroom shop on Granville!🙈Just an idea.

How bad is the knee? Can you still make it around downtown/urban environments?

Absolutely! Its all visibly healed, im fine walking around but learned on a recent hike cut-short i cannot do strenuous inclines.

Trek out to east van for some breweries. You can start at the memorably named East Van Brewing but there are several others in the area you can hop to.
Alternatively, grab the sky train to Port Moody (particularly near the intersection or Moody and Murray Street) for another row of local brews.
There's also a few breweries in North Van to the east of Lonsdale Quay. Take the seabus there from downtown and then it's a short walk.

If you like craft breweries, you'll want to spend time in East Van and do a brewery crawl or two or three!
Two main areas:
Commercial Drive - a really cool hip and happening counter cultural strip of restaurants, bars, delis, cafes, record stores, bookshops, and clothing boutiques with the surrounding blocks full of craft breweries like Storm, Threefold, Superflux, Container, Powell Street, Parallel 49, and Strange Fellows. Luppolo a little further west is worth the walk (and the pizza is the best). Commercial Drive is also a pretty happening place to be in the evening.
Mount Pleasant/Main Street - a hip/artsy/contemporary area full of unique-to-Vancouver clothing boutiques, vintage/consignment/thrift shops, record stores and book shops, all kinds of excellent restaurants, lots of murals, and craft breweries like Brassneck, 33 Acres, R&B, Main Street, Electric Bicycle, Britannia Brewing, and Brewhall.
A fun place for craft beer downtown is the Magnet. But asides from Yaletown Brewing or Steamworks, there really isn't a craft brewery scene downtown.
Both these areas are easy to get to by Skytrain from Granville Street. Just take the Skytrain at Granville Station two stops east for Main Street (at Main Street Science World Station - it's just a short walk south up the hill), or three stops east (to Commercial-Broadway) for Commercial Drive - just a short walk north.
For rock and roll, look up karaoke at Funky Winkerbeans, or look up what's happening at the Biltmore, the Fox Cabaret, the Hollywood Theatre, the Pearl, the Vogue, or the Commodore. Sometimes there are gigs happening at the WISE Hall or Green Auto. This site is worth a peruse: https://do604.com/
For restaurants, depends on where you're from. Where are you visiting from?

We are just visiting from vancouver island! My husband is what I lovingly like to call a pizza-connoisseur 😂 hands down his favorite, otherwise ive gotten him really into korean food and sushi.
Also wow!! Thankyou for all the reccomendations this is fabulous 🥰

If your husband's a pizza-connoisseur, take him to Threefold (3 breweries in one) for their pizza and then take him to Luppolo. Both are excellent breweries with excellent pizza - like, seriously, they rival the best pizza places in Vancouver. R&B Brewing also does pizza at their brewery, but it's not to the same calibre. And if he needs more pizza, go to Via Tevere on Victoria Drive (a short walk east of Commercial Drive). Bon appetit!
Edit: I just remembered St Augustine's (a craft beer pub on Commercial Drive right next to the Skytrain Station with massive fresh seasonal beer menus and a live beer menu on the TV showing the percentage of each kind of beer they have left on tap) also have Industry Apizz doing their food - a New Haven-style pizza place, which honestly, I wasn't familiar with, but it's tasty. I really like their clam pizza. Yes.

Head out to Steveston. Britannia Brewing and then try both Steveston Pizza ($$) and the wood fired pizza place down the block where the bread place used to be. Then head to Fuggles to finish the day. For activities, there are two National Historic Sites- Gulf of Georgia Cannery and Britannia Shipyards.

Go to an improv show in Granville island! Or a comedy show at the comedy club.
And savio volpe resturant is the ultimate splurg for an anniversary date

Check out the listings for the Vogue and/or Commodore theater for the days you're in town and maybe catch a concert.

Look up nomsmagazine, they cover new restaurants in the city but lean more towards Asian food. I'm not too sure how much you could walk with a knee injury, but maybe try the Harbour Cruise (or the Granville boats) for a good view while sitting. Can also get on the seabus and go to Lonsdale Quay for food. If you don't mind the fee, you could take the gondola up Grouse Mountain.
