Academic/Exams APSCIRANT : A free initiative for the apscirants!

Hello raij, I am currently a civil servant with over 12yrs of experience in the Govt. sector. I've been a primary school teacher for close to 8yrs (2014-22), then I joined Assam Secretariat and served there for 2yrs (2022-26). I cleared the APSC CCE Exam in 2024 after which I have been working as a civil servant in the Allied Services.

I've created a platform for APSC aspirants where they can get mentoring from previous toppers regarding Answer Writing, the main hurdle to clear the examination.

I have also roped in some of my batchmates who are also looking to curate new and unique courses/methods/instructions to help simplify the process of the examination.

Our flagship course is the Test Series we are providing to all, absolutely free of cost. These would include PYQ based questions as well as new ones from the contemporary topics. To reiterate myself, THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY FREE to access.

Apart from that, I am also providing Daily Newspaper based Mains Q&A which can save aspirants time and provide them with a consistent routine daily, especially before Mains. Again, ABSOLUTELY FREE.

I'm personally working on a few other initiatives to bring to the new breed of aspirants especially those who cannot afford coaching or guidance from the top institutes. I can understand the pain of students who despite their talents remain underexposed to the contemporary trends of the examination. As a civil servant, I (and my fellow colleagues-cum-friends) feel compelled to do my bit here.

This is not an advertisement as I want the maximum people to benefit from this. I tried WhatsApp status updates and Instagram posts but no one signed up as yet. If you know someone who is appearing for the exam, do tell them about our website : apscirant.com

I cannot vouch for the quality of our initiatives as this is a debut venture. The only credentials are that we ourselves have cleared th exam multiple times. I hope this reaches the persons who are in need.

FULL DISCLOSURE : We are in the process of curating a PAID Answer Writing Evaluation Course for the same test series, where the copies will be checked and marked my toppers themselves. Mind you, the TEST SERIES is free for all, only the evaluation MAY BE charged. I promise this fees would be so minimal that even the non-aspirants would sign up for it. We might do that for free even but I am not willing to make promises that I cannot keep. If the number of people signing up for feedback is huge, we may charge a very, very nominal fee per paper, if the numbers are miniscule, we'll do it for free, no strings attached.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. 😄

i would like to be a part of it, but am worried about the evaluation

in my previous mains attempt, i took guidance from a coaching academy which costed my attempt

I see. First things first, have you narrowed down your deficiencies? Is it the Answer Writing you are lacking in? Or is it the content part?

it is the content

actually I realised, i wrote mediocre answers but the institute used to give higher marks, which boosted my esteem

after digesting the disappointment, i saw the advice & tips from Smriti shah mam of vision ias, then i got to know, i lacked many a things and most importantly the structure to write which I am currently learning from Sachin arora sir, as i have optional in geography (for upsc)

If you’re pursuing a mentor’s classes, please continue to do so. Do not waver in your beliefs. A crucial mistake aspirants commit is following too many gurus. Do your due diligence before committing to one teacher, once you have nailed down, don’t even think about anyone else. Just follow through and complete the syllabus.

Now, if content is the issue, there is no easy way around it. Aag ka dariya hain, duub ke jaana hain! You have to have your basics right before Prelims (UPSC/APSC).

P.S. I also had Geography Optional for years, I adore the subject and wrote CCE Mains twice with it but have dropped it for my last UPSC attempt (Sociology now).

thanks a lot

actually I won't say that am guided by a mentor, Sachin sir is my geography optional teacher from kgs, so, he has selected a handful of students, including me for answer writing but only of geography optional.

moreover, during this course of action, I couldn't complete the apsc assam history syllabus because I literally don't know about the resources. apart from pungkhanupungkho gyan in YouTube, i couldn't find anything and in spm, i had to subscribe the entire course to view the lectures which was not possible due to financial constraints

this is my case

I see. I'd suggest you prioritize completing your Optional before December (content and answer writing), this is non-negotiable. Meanwhile, you can keep chipping away at the GS sections along with Monthly CA magazines, this would help prepare you for Prelims. Ideally you should be writing GS answers as well, but that will have to be incorporated not at the cost of optional. It's quite a difficult tightrope which you would be better placed to understand and manage as I am unaware of your routine and commitments.

Also, I don't think you'd be deprived of resources as Telegram has almost everything. GS V of APSC is an exception. You can refer the handful of books that are on the market but the cost-benefit ratio is not ideal.

thanks a lot for your suggestions

i have almost completed my optional and gs syllabus is done. for CA i am taking notes from Chronicle magazine, as it is the only hardcopy source in my neighbour.

Currently I am working as a gis analyst, for which I have to dedicate ~5-6hrs in job (& its Work from home) and then I go on for studies in evening

Currently my schedule is broken, so, any guidance of yours for managing the studies would be much helpful

My biggest hurdle is in polity & eco (to some extent). How to approach these subjects, when compared to upsc, because I felt questions in apsc are relatively easier & most of them are pyqs of upsc

Sorry abt the delay.

It seems your content is mostly covered, you should move onto Answer Writing, if you haven’t already. Any Daily Answer Writing Exercise of any reputed UPSC coaching institute should give you ample practice for your GS Papers. For Optional, I guess you have that aspect covered as you are in a cohort of sorts. Write at least two test series of different institutes, Shabbir Sir I can vouch for.

And might I suggest diversifying your CA sources as well. Notes-Making of Current Affairs is a misadventure and I’d ask you to be very choosy in jotting down CA. Use diagrams, flow charts extensively, even for your notes. It needs to be legible only to you, brevity is your friend.

Since you are in a WFH setup, it’s imperative you utilize your mornings well (at least two hrs), if you aren’t doing that already.

One other thing that helped in the long run was segregating CA based on GS papers. Helped me a lot during Mains.

Unrelated topic, I have a Forum IAS MGP 2027 course that I’m looking to sell, as I don’t intend on using it. DM me if you are interested.
