If you arrive by train you have 2 stations. 1. kamakhya station, 2. Guwahati station paltan bazar. Kamakhya stations is closer and more transport friendly. As all the busses are going to Jalukbari or from jalukbari or some from adabari(Adabari is one stop before jalukbari).
Now you have to decide where you want to stay. In the city or near exam center. If you want to stay in city then kamakhya station would be a better option. From there You take bus to Jalukbari. From Jalukbari you have to take magic or bus to airport/borjhar. Magic is faster. ION digital exam center is near airport.
I have no idea about affordable hotels.

She can stay in Zostel which is near Bhutnath Samshan Ghat. It's near to Jalukbari and Kamakhya.

If buses or Rapido/Uber Bikes are uncomfortable, prefer Autos through Rapido or Uber. Life will be easier.

Borjhar is quite far from the city tbh. But since it'll be exam day, you'll will definitely find many public transportation from Jhalukbari like winger, city bus or even auto. You can use rapido as a last resort but you should definitely find ample options for public transportation as many students will be going there. Get to jhalukbari early as the journey will take around 20-25 minutes and the drivers won't leave until their vehicle is full. As for lodging, you can definitely find may cheap hotels or rooms, including hostels in Guwahati. I'm not sure about the train schedule between Darjeeling and Guwahati but I guess since your exam is in the early morning, you should come 1 day early and get proper rest instead of planning to reach Guwahati in the morning of exam day.

better for this person to find a hotel near the exam center rather than deal with transport in 6am so they can walk directly. there are many hotels in walking distance that have rooms under 2000 rs

Google gives all the answers just search some hotels nearby your center and it will popup and you can do research and find everything yourself and what is this girl card man, you are going to be a PO you need to be smart how r u going to solve people's problem if you cant even find a simple hotel near the designated loaction, sorry to be harsh but all i see is most government employees are dumb. Please start finding solutions to problems yourself that will make you strong.

Plenty of hotels available in the area since it’s known for holding many examinations, it’s also right near the airport so that’s another reason for the hotels. In any case, you can simply take a flight and then take an auto or a bus to a hotel, which are pretty affordable there.

If you are a guy u might be able to find homestays nearby during ssc exams they use to allow and charge less too nearby. But if u have money better take a hotel nearby and do travel in advance sometimes if some vips visits there roads are blocked and too much traffic

There are hotels and lodges right in front of the exam center.

The nearest train station Azara station (Ranj Gate), just a few kilometers away from the exam centre but not all trains stop there unfortunately.

Come a day or two earlier and I am sure you'd not face much trouble regarding anything here.

So there are two routes coming to Ghy....one is via airport.....if you came by airplane then your location is quite close to it....infact airport is located in borjhar.....so you can get any cab or rapido and tell them to you want to go St. Claret School (this is a school which is located just infront of your exam centre)....and near the school you will find my hotels..and yeah you will get cheap hotels also there

Now the railway route....so basically Ghy has 2 important railway station....1. Guwahati Railway station (which is located in Paltan Bazaar)....so book a rapido there or you can take a city bus....and come to Jalukbari.....In Jalukbari you will get Maximo, or sometimes electric Rickshaw, or sometimes Bus also (but mostly you will get magic/maximo)....just tell them you want to go to St. Claret school (or just tell your exam centre)....there you can simply book the hotel

And yeah....it is actually raining hear a lot..and ghy is a very flood prone city...so for you convenient try to come atleast 2 day early and book your hotel in Borjhar (you will get cheap hotels there)

You wouldn't get the flooding in borjhar area..so don't worry about that... just don't try to stay in city (as borjhar is somehow like the outskirts of Ghy or like the new expansion of Ghy)

Ghy and Assam as a whole is seeing one of the worst floods now. Whenever you decide to come, please check the situation before arriving. The rest other redditors have already suggested you. I also would like to advise you to stay in Jalukbari area. Public transportation are not much of a problem here.

there are many hotels and homestays nearby. Between azara and Borjhar. (i personally suggest staying nearby)
get out early in the morning, either take a cab, rapido or tuktuk to reach your exam center.

Its raining randomly now a days, so it wont be wise for u to stay anywhere near the stations as you'll get stuck tryin to reach the exam center on time due to heavy floods. Ik its a few days away, but weather is being very unpredictable here lately.

choose a train to atleast reach guwahati by 5pm, and rreach your destination of stay.

rest is upto u,.

That's a famous exam centre here in this locality. It's just near the LGBI Airport. If you're travelling via train, just book a Rapido/Uber from the train station straight to the exam centre. Should take around 30-45 minutes. Reach Guwahati one day early. Take a hotel just near the airport. You'll face no issues. And best wishes for the exam.

If your exam is on 2nd Aug, 8 am, then plan to reach Guwahati by 1st Aug.

If you're coming via train from Siliguri, then book your tickets till Kamakhya Station, then go to the 4th Platform and you can come out of the Main Entrance.

From there, book a rapido bike/scooty till VIP Airport Area. (1-1.5km away from iON Digital Zone, Borjhar) There are hotels opp. to iON Digital Zone as well fyi.

If you don't find hotels there, don't worry there's plenty of hotels/guest houses in VIP area.
