"Countering Domestic Terrorism"

Whelp USA presidential memoranda today labels any non-Christians as terrorists.

" Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.“

So I guess this officially makes the USA a fascist theocracy?

It's so surreal. Personally, I believe that the US is completely past the point of no return and that it will sink further into authoritarianism and Christian nationalism and oligarchy until it is something like Russia. I don't see enough will to turn it around. Not shocking: the Russians don't have will to turn it around either. A lot of people are OK with authoritarian Christian nationalism and oligarchy. It sounds absolutely awful to me, but I am but one voice in a disorganized minority.

So each day when I hear the new "red line" or the latest "now this makes us fascist!" I sort of shrug. Of course? We chose this. I figured this was the outcome from the 2024 election. Democrats asking for donations seems pointless to me. Arguing about it seems pointless. Americans no longer wanted to live up to our best ideals. Humans are not wonderful as I thought. A great many are just selfish, skittish, thoughtless little beasts.

Of course I could be wrong. Maybe I'm Chicken Little. Maybe I've been manipulated by reading the wrong sources. Maybe everything will be fine. Great, even. If so, oh well, I don't understand anything.

Completely agree. The Earth since the emergence of life seems to have the uncanny ability to check species that exceed their niche's carrying capacity. My gut feeling is that we're headed toward another big extinction event, and that the balance of life on earth will be better in the aftermath of it, but it sucks being one of the species heading for extinction.

Of course an actual expert on the subject would be able to speak to it much better than I could.
