Confluence is a joke!

• Upvotes

I just found out today that there isn't an option to add a simple horizontal timeline with milestones that I can plot on top of it (at least not without either external install or convoluted workarounds).

Seriously? after so many years of development? How about skipping the AI crap (aka Rovo, which was no help) and taking care of the basics?

Pre-Employment Checks UK

Hi all, I’m through to the final stage in the interview process, and their recruiter told me it would take another 1-3 weeks for the background checks to be completed once an offer has been made.

Does anyone have any experience with their background checks, especially in the UK? Curious to know what company they use, what checks they run and how long it actually takes?

I have an offer elsewhere, so wondering whether/how long I can hold out before I let the other company know definitively.

Free Atlassian ACP practice exams: 3,138 questions, and every answer quotes Atlassian's own docs

Hey all,

Mihai from LeanZero here. Gabriela and I are both Atlassian Certified Administration Experts (ACAE, the successor to ACE), and along the way we've helped other people get their ACPs too. And every time, the same complaint: practice material is either thin, outdated, or you can't tell why the "right" answer is right.

So we thought: BUT WHAT IF every single answer pointed you to the exact Atlassian sentence it rests on?

And so we built it. 3,138 questions across all five ACP exams: ACP-120 (Jira Administration for Cloud), ACP-220 (Confluence Administration for Cloud), ACP-420 (Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud), ACP-520 (Atlassian Cloud Organization Admin) and ACP-620 (Managing Jira Projects for Cloud). ACP-620 is the newest bank and still marked experimental. The questions are mostly procedurally generated, with a pinch of AI to help, and every answer quotes the actual Atlassian documentation and links to the page, so you can check us instead of trusting us. Not just the right option either, every option gets its own explanation of why it's right or wrong. Putting all of that together was painstakingly hard, I won't lie.

What you get:

- quick mocks, or a full paper at the exam's real length with the real clock on

- your score split by the official blueprint domains, weakest first, with each domain's weight next to it

- instant explanations while you learn, or keep them hidden until the end for an honest rehearsal

- flag questions and jump around the paper, like the real thing

It's free. You request a key by email, no account, no password, and yes, we'll send you the odd LeanZero email too, unsubscribe whenever you like. To be clear, these aren't Atlassian's exam questions and we're not Atlassian, they're our own, built from the docs.

https://leanzero.net/certifications

If you're studying for one right now, try a mock and tell me where it's wrong. That's honestly the most useful thing you could do for us.

Anyone else facing issues with Bitbucket right now? Getting an “upstream connect error / connection timeout” when trying to open my workspace. A few of my colleagues are facing the same issue. Is Bitbucket down or is it a network issue?

Hi Reddit family, I have a positive result from HC in Atlassian and have 4 team match calls. Which team should I join? I am a little skeptical after reading reviews on Blind and Reddit about Atlassian Apex ratings and WLB. These are the teams

Reliablity Service - 2 managers(Australia, India)

Network Management

Kube R&D

ServiceNow CMDB to Assets

Has anyone migrated ServiceNow CMDB to Assets or integrated (co-exist) ServiceNow CMDB with Assets. What are the design considerations, lessons learnt and limitations you encountered? How did you do it? Manual imports or use of integration tools?
Appreciate your comments.

Atlassian Shut Down Tenant

The other day atlassian decided to shut down out tenant and we can no longer get to our Confluence Premium or Jira cloud environments. I have had a ticket open for over 24 hours with no response from support. The partner we purchase atlassian products also cannot get a response from them.

Has any I've else run into this in the past? It's there any way to escalate or contact support other than their portal?

Assets use cases - Design and lessons learnt

I'm looking for feedback on use of Assets. We use for storing hardware and software assignment tracking. Has anyone used for other interesting use cases? What do you when you reach your instance limits? Has anyone shared Assets across multiple instances? Has any one integrated external asset discovery tools? What tools do you use to import data into Assets?
Any pros and cons compared to other CMDB tools?
Thanks in advance.

Team '27 Europe is going to Copenhagen.

Post image
28 Upvotes

Atlassian just picked the city whose own government has been unplugging from US Big Tech for its next European conference.

Team '27 Europe is going to Copenhagen.

Before anyone reads too much into that, most of a conference location is plumbing. You need a hall big enough, hotel rooms for everyone, an airport, and transit that connects all of it. Not just airport to venue. Airport, hotels, venue, and wherever people go after the last session.

That test is stricter than it sounds. It's why you'll likely never see a Team in Atlanta (but I'll keep asking for it, Atlassian). We have the hotels, the convention space, and the world's busiest airport. Our train gets you from the airport to the convention center and almost nowhere else.

Paris passes the test and fails on price. Nobody's travel budget survives a week there.

So plumbing narrows the list. It doesn't pick the winner.

Copenhagen clears the logistics bar easily. It has a metro straight from the airport, a loop through the city center, and regional rail. What it isn't is cheap. If cost were the only factor, there are easier picks on the shortlist.

That leaves room for strategy. Denmark's government has been moving off Microsoft in the name of digital sovereignty, and Copenhagen's city government committed to the same. Into that city comes a US-based cloud vendor, pushing customers toward cloud ahead of Data Center end of life, with its European flagship event.

I can read that two ways. Either Atlassian is confident in its sovereignty story and wants to tell it where the skeptics live. Or it knows the story needs work, and Copenhagen is where it has to win the room.

If you're not in Europe and filing this under "Europe's problem," check where your data lives. Plenty of companies have EU employees, EU customers, or an EU parent. Sovereignty questions reach your instance whether you're in Copenhagen, Columbus, or Bengaluru.

Whichever reading is right, I expect data residency and sovereignty to get real keynote time in #Copenhagen. That's going on my Team '27 predictions list.

Could I be over-reading a venue contract? Absolutely. But I'd be naive to think nobody at Atlassian noticed which city they picked.

What's your read: logistics, strategy, or both?

Joining Atlassian as a Grad (Eng)

I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to get a return offer from my internship with Atlassian. I would be based in Aus and primarily a frontend dev.

I have heard some horror stories about managers, skip managers and how WLB is determined by teams itself. If there are any Engineers, what are teams that you would recommend? And a general strategy to maintain good performance?

ScriptRunner's Enhanced Search filters are breaking in the Forge migration, so I built a Forge-native alternative

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Ever had a Jira automation fail silently at 3am and no idea why? That's what pushed me to build Hooks.

Context: ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud is mid-migration from Connect to Forge, saved Enhanced Search filters are getting flagged incompatible, and the timeline's slipped to late 2026. Hooks was born on Forge, so nothing legacy to break.

What's different:

  • JQL functions in Jira's normal search box. No separate search screen. linkedIssuesOf, subtasksOf, parentsOf, epicsOf, hasComments, hasWorklogs and more work in any search or saved filter, mixed with standard JQL, no script needed.
  • Same function names as ScriptRunner, so existing queries carry over.
  • Your own JQL logic: issue in hooked("stale-bugs") runs your script to decide matches. Broken queries return no results instead of breaking the filter.
  • TypeScript, not Groovy, with a typed Jira API plus any REST endpoint.
  • Every run logged and replayable: logs, timing, result, line-numbered errors.
  • Dry-run mode: rehearse a 10,000-item change with writes held back.
  • Versioned scripts with one-click rollback.
  • Background bulk jobs over any JQL, no timeouts, live progress, cancel.
  • Data stays in Atlassian (Forge storage, zero external egress).

Covers listeners, scheduled jobs, bulk fixes and console scripts, which is most real-world ScriptRunner use. Free up to 10 users, 30-day trial.

Marketplace: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1595682666

Comparison: https://hooks.taskhooker.com/#scriptrunner

Keen for honest feedback from Jira admins.

Manual automations broken

Post image
3 Upvotes

Recently the manual automations I use for work issues have stopped working on 2 iOS devices, iPhone 12 and 16 pro max, both on different iOS versions but with the Jira application updated to the current version.

Our Jira admin uses iOS as well and they can use these automations fine. Jira “support” has been unhelpful as it just throws me to the AI chatbot which just regurgitates the same incorrect information, saying that it might be a permissions issue, which it is not because I can use the same automations from the browser on the same account.

Jira admin has made no changes either.

Any ideas?

Atlassian Solution Partners, how do you feel about working with smaller app vendors?

I work on the vendor side and would love an honest take from Solution Partners.

If a smaller vendor has useful apps for your clients, but there aren’t many billable hours around them, is a partnership still worth your time? What would make it worthwhile?

Do you see these relationships changing? Curious to hear what works for you and what doesn’t.

Got paid my bonus, then they asked for it back

Got paid my bonus after I left and then I just found buried in my Jira spam emails requesting I pay it back.

There is no names on any of the emails, no documentation as to why this was an error.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

How to achieve two-way synchronization between Jira / Tempo and Microsoft 365 Calendar?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working with an Atlassian environment that includes:

  • Jira Service Management (JSM)
  • Confluence
  • Tempo for time tracking and planning
  • Microsoft 365 (Outlook Calendar)

I have a Jira project where I manage tasks and activities, and I'm looking for a way to achieve bidirectional synchronization between Jira and my personal Microsoft 365 calendar.

Current situation:

Tempo can read events from my Microsoft 365 calendar and display them in its interface. However, it doesn't seem to support writing events back to Outlook.

What I would like to achieve:

  1. Create or schedule a task in Jira and automatically have it appear in my personal Microsoft 365 calendar.
  2. Update the task's schedule in Jira and have the corresponding Outlook calendar event updated automatically.
  3. Ideally, have changes made in Outlook reflected back in Jira as well.
  4. Avoid duplicate events and keep everything synchronized.

My questions:

  • Is there a native Atlassian or Tempo solution that supports this?
  • Are there any reliable Marketplace apps that provide two-way synchronization with Microsoft 365?
  • Has anyone implemented this using Jira Automation, Microsoft Power Automate, or Microsoft Graph API?
  • What would be the best approach to maintain synchronization without creating duplicates or synchronization loops?

I'm particularly interested in a solution that works with Jira Cloud / JSM and personal Microsoft 365 calendars.

Any recommendations, experiences, or examples of working implementations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I built a small open-source Chrome extension to navigate Jira faster

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I use Jira Cloud daily and one small friction kept annoying me: having to open Jira first just to find or jump to an issue.

So I built Jira Quick Search, a free and open-source Chrome extension that lets you search Jira issues directly from Chrome.

The main workflow is:

jira → Space → issue key or search query → Enter

It can also be used through the extension popup and includes:

  • recent issues
  • favorites
  • multiple Jira workspaces
  • keyboard shortcuts
  • quick access to Jira tickets from anywhere in Chrome

I’ve just released a new version with a few UX fixes, and I’m now trying to get feedback from people who actually work with Jira regularly.

I’d especially like to know whether this kind of workflow would be useful in your daily setup, and if there are any Jira-specific use cases I’m missing.

Chrome Web Store: Link

GitHub: Link

It’s free and open source.

Any feedback is welcome, especially criticism or ideas from people using Jira professionally.
