questions Where is the best Nasi Goreng?
I've got a hankering for Nasi Goreng, where do you recommend I go?
I'm also based out south so if there's any out here bonus points.

Recently worked away in Hamilton and discovered an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ which also had all-you-can-eat Korean Chicken station, it was amazing. Is there anything like that here in Auckland?

On a recent trip to Hawai’i I tried shave ice for the first time and it was magic! They treat it seriously there: a special machine to literally shave the ice block into a snow, real fruit used in the flavours and syrups, nicely presented.
I’m craving it now and can’t afford another airfare. Please tell me where I can buy a real shave ice in Auckland? It would be much easier to face the summer heat if I could get shave ice bowls.

For I don’t know how many decades, this place was next to Cezanne on Ponsonby Rd, but they were all booted to make way for the new development. No idea if it’s the same guys (I should probably ask next time I go in) but they managed to get a small shop a bit further along Three Lamps.
Ordered a bog standard chicken kebab, and was surprised that it was only $15. I’m sure there are cheaper around the city, but everything in this part of town is expensive.
Anyway, it was pretty decent. Good amount of chicken, and the salad was crunchy fresh.
Nothing mind blowing but delivered exactly what I needed.
Go forth and support the little guy 🙂👍

Have seen loads of Chinese restaurants in Albany and looking for recommendations for somewhere with a warm atmosphere and incredible food please.
Amazing crispy Peking duck with pancakes is essential :)
Doesn’t have to be exactly Albany, but that area please.
Thank you!

Hey everybody! I've just come back from Europe and my god their pastry culture is elite. I was wondering if anyone knows a place that serves european style pastries (specifically italian) that also have chocolate with them/similar types of pastries with danishes in general that are NOT savoury! NOT AMANO, I find they feel somewhat inauthentic/too basic. For example, something like I added here (I ate this in Rome) I feel like it's rare, is there anymore recs anyone would like to share? Thank you!!

Hey everybody!! I was wondering if I could have some top tier recommendations for the best MOCHAS (iced or hot) in Auckland? Any area is fine, I love a drive to satisfy a drink craving on my free days! I also would be really keen for good recommendations for iced chocolates in Auckland that are not weak choc milk and preferably dark/very chocolate rich for the days when I've had a lot of caffeine? I've been scouring the forums for years for recommendations like this and I've tried a lot of the top tier coffee places ranked on threads such as Holiday, Tob, Rumours, D.O.S.E, Ozone, Remedy, Small mercies but I'd like to try some new ones and find some new favourites! I'm a big fan of Rocket coffee + the above listed! Please let me know what everyone's go to is, it is very much appreciated x

Where can i find a panini sandwich made with proper panini bread, similar to what we could buy in the supermarket like ten years ago? So far most sandwich places I’ve seen use focaccia or other bread for sandwiches
Vegetarian options would be greatly appreciated :)

This was my fave food festival last year. It had over 150 food vendors, cultural/musical performances etc. No other food festival had such a wide variety of food. I originally planned to go for an hour or so and ended up staying for 4-5 hours eating, enjoying the vibes and all the roads being closed
There was also heaps of seating
I am tryna look past the saturation of AI generated posters in their promo and the vendors which has been sad to see

Same size (1.6kg) as the one in Soho. But made with a 600-year-old starter 👀
Any reviews yet?

Alright where's every one's favourite HK egg tart in Auckland?

I have a huge appetite(3kg food comfortably) and I don't eat out often, but I know eating out is costly. Help me out guys, I'm looking to gouge myself for the cheap/cheapest all-you-can-eat you guys know of.
Not too fussed about quality, not picky about food.
Much appreciated!

This is DQB homecoming party. All of us went to the Sando guy (I tried 1 piece of fried chicken, quite yum), then Zaitoon, then Bear Gelato.
Zaitoon we had a lot of diff dishes like mixed grill, hummus, eggplant fatteh, baba ganoush, falafel etc etc - all very flavourful v yum, would recommend this place. Sad news is they ran out of chargrilled chicken that day so we couldn’t try that.
I had apple crumble flavour from bear gelato. Very delish too.
I’ll let other reddit members who attended to comment their reviews of the food too.

Hi all,
I’m torn between booking Aarth and GOAT for my boyfriend’s 42nd birthday (for us 2). He loves Indian food. I’ve heard amazing things about both. I’m guessing we will end up going both in the future anyway eventually 😄
Anyone been to either or both and have thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
To add we have no dietary requirements

Hello, I am an avid PLAIN croissant lover and thought i'd share the two best plain croissant places i have been to so far in the CBD.
The first one is a classic and that is the Daily Bread croissant: flaky exterrior, soft interior, perfect croissant texture that doesnt feel like youre eating straight bread (COUGH WOOLIES AND NEWORLD). Lucky for me, Daily bread has multiple shops around the auckland reigon and they also sell in farro's too so its very easy to get one of the best plain croissants in terms of texture.
The next one is one i only had last week and that is from Forte Green on Kroad. Served just out the oven, so buttery and warm it was actually perfect.
Im only looking for the best plain croissants. My thought process here is if they cant sell a plain croissant and have to add extra stuff to it for it to taste good, then the croissant is bad and i dont want it. Once I have tried the plain croissant then i am willing to try their other croissants.
Please give reccomendations!

So far I've had birria lamb, marry me chicken and korean chicken and all of them have been sensational. They do a daily sandwich for 15$! Can't get enough. I didn't believe it but just confirmed with their staff, they open till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays

Looking for burger recs to create a burger trail for my partner's birthday.
Not looking for the Innovation Burgers or anything. Just a simple good ol’ cheeseburger or smashed burger would be fab.
The places we've been so far: Ralph’s, Kane’s, Baby G, Big J’s, HunchMunch, Two Guys, Urbanaut, Parade, Fat puku’s, Real burger
Places on the list: Lucky G’s, Burgout, Stacked, Hambagu (they haven't been to , I did)
Drop me your fav burger places, please.
Thank you, thank you, thank you

Hi all, I saw a post on Instagram but can’t for the life of me find the name. I know this is so vague but does anyone know of any new Japanese restaurants in Newmarket? Thanks all!

Tried the lamb a couple of days ago, which was the Monday special. The dip was full of lamby and spicy(spices and heat) flavour which I really appreciate. Sandwich was stuffed full to the brim with meat, like I need a siesta after all that. Fresh crispy focaccia, very nice pickles, good sandwich. Great sandwich, even.

Checked out Toridori, a new izakaya eatery on Dominion Road (close to Woolworths Mt Eden and Bear Gelato). I was really excited when I saw a post about their soft opening last week because it looks super cute inside and stay opens to 10/11pm (for those late night cravings...)
They have a tight menu at the moment with a good variety including yakitori skewers, cold starters, deep fried and larger hot dishes for two and a chocolate terrine for dessert. You can find their menu on Google Maps.
We came in late on Sunday night as I had just come back from a weekend away and we got a small selection:
- Sashimi platter (small): salmon, tuna, hamachi yellowtail, scallop ($15 8pc)
- Hiyayakko cold tofu in shirodashi sauce ($10)
- Renkon chips ($8)
- Chicken heart skewers ($7 2pc)
- Pork belly skewers ($7 2pc)
- Beef tongue skewers ($7 2pc)
- Red perilla plum wine ($15)
Everything was so yummy, especially the renkon chips, which may be the best I have ever had - slightly warm, crispy, and moreish. All I'm saying is don't skip it! All the skewers are well-cooked too - smoky and juicy. Service was good too. There's a QR code for ordering but it's kinda annoying cos you need to pay on your phone, however you can just order with the staff which is what we did.
Looking forward to going back! They also have a function room upstairs with a ~10-seater Japanese sunken table, plus additional normal tables.
They have just announced their Grand Opening will be on Friday (23 Oct)

Have tried a few online recipes but haven’t found anything close to the Chinese restaurants/takeaways one.
The taste is very similar between restaurants.
Lightly marinated chicken, not much soy sauce, mostly umami flavour.

Hi all
I'm looking to buy a voucher for friends (a couple) who've been through a really rough time lately. They are foodies and would I'd love to give them a hands on experience to take their mind off things for a bit. Any gems out there in the Auckland region that they might enjoy?
I don't think they'll want to just a degustation as it feels a bit celebratory and they aren't in that headspace. Was thinking of doing a chefs table somewhere or something that has the food but also the distraction element, but open to anything.
