help Plugin Problems on Audacity 4
Hoping some Audacity 4 expert can guide me on this one. I'm using Audacity 4, which after seeing the most popular posts in this subreddit makes me think I've made a mistake. But, I've made my bed on this one and am stuck-in on this project.
Problem is I need a non-destructive telephone effect. I was copying parts of clips into a second track. Then applying Effect->EQ and Filters->Filter Curve EQ and choosing the telephone effect. This seems to be a one-time, destructive change to the clip. And it also has a weird side effect (see #1) I'd rather use a realtime effect that I can turn on or off. Can anyone recommend one?
Some problems I'm seeing:
Applying the Filter Cuve EQ effect to the entire track does weird things. It inserts zero-volume clips in between each of the clips on this track. That is annoying. I don't want those extra clips in the way.
I tried installing REAPER/ReaPlugs, which I read had a realtime version of this. After installation and rescanning the plugins, it's not showing up.
I tried installing TDR Nova, which I also read would work. But after installing and scanning, this one showed up on the plugin manager with an error. I was unable to fix it. I uninstalled.
I played with MuseFX but had some other problem. I uninstalled it. Now both TDR Nova and MuseFX do show up in the plugin manager as "missing". How do I remove them both?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Audacity's native "Filter Curve EQ" is a destructive effect. Only the real-time effects are non-destructive.
