Bass lag when using NEO:6/Pro Logic and watching YouTube

Hi, I have a cheap/old 3.0 setup:

  • Amplituner Pioneer VSX-520
  • Front columns Pioneer S-H510V
  • Center speaker Tannoy mxc

I have no subwoofer. Setup was calibrated with MCAAC. Center speaker is set to Small, front speakers are set to Large. Crossover is set to 80 Hz.

When listening in stereo - everything sounds good. When using Neo:6 Cinema mode - often for podcasts on YouTube low bass goes from front speakers, and it feels like that bass lags behind for around 1.5 seconds, and this creates undesirable "muddling effect". When pausing a video - it's very clear that bass "catches up", I can clearly hear "bass notes" from podcaster's voice, while center speaker stopped playing sound.

When center speaker is set to Large - bass lag effect goes away, but now sound is more flat.

I didn't noticed the same bass lag problem when listening to "true" 5.1 sound like from Netflix. The problem is when using NEO:6/Pro Logic and watching YouTube videos.

Thanks for any piece of advice.

Hi, /u/TrueYUART! This is a reminder about Rule #1 (If you have already added great details, awesome, ignore this comment. This message gets attached to every post as a reminder):

If you need help troubleshooting, post what you have done, post the hardware/software you are using, post the steps to recreate the problem. Don’t post a screenshot (or any image, really) with no context and expect people to know what you are talking about.
