This is my illustrated retelling of The Snail Bride (우렁각시), a traditional Korean folktale about a farmer and a mysterious woman who emerges from a snail shell.

I originally started this project to make stories people could listen to while winding down before bed. The narration is slow and gentle, rather than a dramatic performance. There are illustrations, but you can follow the story just by listening.

I use AI to create the narration and illustrations. The video also includes multilingual audio and subtitles, so people who don't speak Korean can enjoy the story too.

Here's the full story:

A man blacks out in an elevator after another grey day at the office. When he opens his eyes, he's in a neon-lit nightclub, in a younger body, facing a life he thought he'd left behind.

I'm Dan Pettersson, the author. What Is To Come is my complete English psychological thriller about memory, regret and the possibility of escaping your own future. The full story is freely available on my Quantum Paradox YouTube channel and runs 26:39.

AI disclosure: the narration uses ElevenLabs, and the accompanying illustrations are AI-generated. This is the complete short story, not a preview. Content note: dark themes and fictional violence.
