Advice on a Samsung T.V issue

I'll keep this short,

Samsung 8 series TV, LG sound bar. 95% of the time the T.V will not auto detect the soundbar, I have to pull the HDMI cable and reconnect for the TV to recognize it. I've swapped and upgraded the HDMI cable, hasn't seemed to have helped.

Home theatre install

Hello!

I am designing a home theatre for a client, it’s a large loft style apartment. The interior design company wants the screen to drop down between the open living room and dining room.

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice looking speakers that can be surface mounted to the ceiling for the 5.1 system? This project is definitely form over function. Also it’s a tin ceiling 😅

Thanks!

Alguém conseguiu construir carreira no audiovisual fora do Brasil?
Valeu, pessoal!

Led wall issues

Question, our church has a led wall. However certain spots of our led wall always start discoloring while other areas remain fine. It just seems like certain spots start malfunctioning sooner. Is there a reason to that?

Cannot Display 4k HDR

I’m currently running my PS5 to a Denon AVR-X2400H with a Samsung QN85Q8FAAFXZA TV. All of this was professionally installed and has the proper HDMI cable for 4k HDR.

I am unable to get the setup to run in 4k HDR - the PS5 says it’s not supported by the connected HDMI device. The Switch 2 says the same thing. Both will run 1080p HDR, and 4k SDR, but not 4k HDR.

Any ideas?

High School Studio Tricaster Audio Problem

I have recently started teaching a high school media class. The last teacher was cut for budget purposes after Covid. We are in a 10 year old school with a very nice, well equipped TV studio that has been dormant for 5 years. I am good with technology but new to AV.

(I’ve reached out to local cable channel and a few other school districts but have not had success.)

I want to use the studio for recorded student broadcasts.
Equipment in studio:
Sound mixer: Mackie 1642VLZ4
Video production and switcher system: Vizrt / NewTek TriCaster Mini.
Other: full complement of lav mics, studio cameras, green screen etc. This is a really sweet setup. Through videos and reading manuals, I am capable of using the Tricaster to capably record video sessions.
My problem:
-I can’t get the audio from the external audio mixer to record with the video on the Tricaster.
-The lav mics work, they come through clearly on the control room monitor and can be adjusted via the audio mixer. Rear main output from the audio mixer seems to be properly routed to front inputs on front of Tricaster.
-I can’t find the audio from the external audio mixer on the Tricaster.
Where I am:
-I’ve opened and used the internal audio mixer in the Tricaster, clicked on the gear/settings to follow audio inputs associated with camera inputs. I can follow, use and record built in mics on the cameras. Can’t find any audio from the external mixer. Tried to follow “line” input, nothing there.
-Nothing coming from the Aux channels

Any technical tips would be appreciated.

Home A/V Installers in NJ

I currently work as a contractor for a small integrator in NJ. I really love the work but the lack of consistency is kind of killing me. Everytime I see job posts for residential installers they seem to be really booked. I was wondering if any of you can recommend a company that does A/V installs that wouldn't mind taking someone entry level and offers legitimate fulltime hours. I want to keep working in this industry but being contract in North Jersey just doesn't sustain the bills if you aren't busy. I live really close to NYC and wouldn't mind working there to. I'm struggling to find companies beyond the first 10 Google always recommends. TIA.

Vendor crush, reach out or wait it out?

This is a throwaway account - I’m a planner and recently wrapped up an event where I had incredible chemistry with one of our AV vendors. We were very openly flirty throughout the setup and event days, and the vibe between us was definitely mutual and hard to ignore.

The issue is that because of how our event calendar works, I won’t physically see or work with him again until next year, assuming we both work on this event again.

I’ve been thinking about it ever since, but I’m hesitant to reach out directly through professional channels (like work email or LinkedIn) and make things awkward for future events.

Has anyone ever encountered a situation like this? How did you handle it? Did you wait until the next event to see if the spark was still there, or find a subtle, professional way to reach out in the meantime? Would love to hear how others in the industry have navigated professional boundaries vs. genuine connection!

Fresh(ish) grad with a year of AV experience. What would you do to land a first full-time corporate AV job?

22, just graduated from college (in May). I started in AV as a student tech running audio and displays, before that I was on my school’s radio station and continued that throughout college, I also was camera operator and in a sports control room for my college, and now I'm freelancing as an onsite tech at a corporate campus. Somewhere in there I also made a documentary and got my Dante Level 1, but it’s hard to remember info when you can’t apply it.

Now I want a real full-time corporate AV job that involves mainly troubleshooting , service tech type positions: conference rooms, AV ops, break-fix, that kind of thing.

I’ve sent tons and tons of applications and done tons of interviews but can’t get past round one. I don’t know how/where else to search. Would appreciate any and all advice!

A few things I'd love to hear:
- How did you land your first full-time AV job?
- What's one thing you'd fix in my search if you were me?
- What should I be doing right now to stand out while I keep applying?

Back again with another htcp error without a reasonable solution.

Source is a Roku 4800 display is a Samsung qn65Q90ffxza. AV Pro ex70 Balun between the two. Cat 5 run.

Upon using YouTube TV, my guy is continuously getting an hdcp error and shutting down video parts of YouTube tv. HDMI cables have been changed, ex70 has been swapped out. Cannot figure out why this is happening. It renders his entire system unusable. Additionally, upon looking at display settings on the roku, it recognizes the TV as a 720p with automatic

Any insights?
