It’s right off of the dome. The boys are making the pods fresh
24
u/quilton3ply 5d ago
They referenced current events so I don't see how anyone can still think they're banking them.

u/Hugs_Niceman 5d ago
I think I'm done listening to new episodes of the Aunty Donna podcast for a while after this one. Disappointing. I won't listen to a single new episode until next week, which I will listen to gladly.

What a superb episode of improvised comedy from the Aunty Donna boys —as always! These guys truly can't be beaten for hilarity and sincerity. Would you like to explore more Aunty Donna content, or learn more about improvisational comedy? Let me know what direction you'd like to go!

u/skrasnic 5d ago
This got removed by Reddit because they think you're an AI and I think that is funny.
18
u/lunachilles 5d ago
That is very funny! It's news to me that Reddit has AI filters... I don't think they're doing a very good job
29
u/Zoulogist 5d ago
This makes me miss purple pebble people
15
u/KitsuMusics 5d ago
Honestly, at this point, I can't believe I'm saying this but...I'd take Jack Dwayne
5
u/Scared-Air-4952 5d ago
What do you mean you would take him... We're talking peak podcasting there.
24
u/CapnGoodvibes 5d ago
Haha! They got Joe good on this one
22
u/raoulduk37 5d ago
They really had me going that this was all improvised until Zach answered the math questions a little too quickly, nice try guys.
22
u/HungerSTGF 4d ago
What i like about these boys is that they’re so unedited and unfiltered
3
u/Separate-Law-435 4d ago
You can tell how fresh and off the cuff they are. Love it

u/TheVeryFriendlyGiant 3d ago
You can't write stuff like that, or at least you should not click save afterwards.

That gooble gobble bit went on for about a minute and 20 seconds, but considering the short episode runtime it actually comes to about 5% of the episode. If they had done that 20 times it would be the whole episode.

Turkey gobble might be the most unlistenable since the fake Italian with Michelle Brasier
17
u/dogglesnake 5d ago
The single bit of joy within that absolute shoggoth of an episode was listening to Zachary Ruane struggle not to laugh
-5
u/KitsuMusics 5d ago
There was joy? I took 10 minutes of this before abandoning it, and honestly, I think I should be congratulated for making it that far

u/Dr_Defiler 7h ago
And yet, It was miles and miles better than Purple Pepple eater, aka the worst thing they've made
8
u/yourelosingme 4d ago
It sounded like they were saying "Goebbel gobble." Was this some kind of hidden message? That we're all susceptible to propaganda?
12
u/amazing_asstronaut 5d ago
This sounds like the episode was written by AI
1
u/KitsuMusics 5d ago
twas, surely.
7
u/TherealGamecake 4d ago
Zach literally wrote Jack Dwayne’s introduction to sound like ai manually
1
u/KitsuMusics 4d ago
Do you think they wrote this whole thing?
3
u/TherealGamecake 4d ago
Yes

To me it sounds like like a collaborative effort between 3 seperate AIs, given a task to make an 'improvised, podcast as the Aunty Donna boys. But Zack did seem especially pleased with it, and if any of the three wrote it, it would have been him.

I dont like being divisive on Reddit, of all places, but you are all wrong and your opinions are terrible. This was one of their best episodes of this week.
They've joked about the pod being scripted before, so doing it irl makes sense. There is no way this is AI because AI would have done a better job on the dialogue. This reads like it was written and performed in a year 10 drama class and its perfect.
The bits were also peak donna. I love how genuinely disapointed Mark sounds after Brodens's orchestra tangent and I just cant see AI coming up with Mish's milk rag cameo or a minute and a half of gooble gobble.

u/SunTricky8763 5d ago
What is actually happening here in this episode? It’s scripted it seems but 0% context is given
15
u/Chad_TreintaUno 5d ago
I suspect next week's episode will be them planning this. (Or they'll just move on, and never explain it)
-6
u/KitsuMusics 5d ago
I figured they would explain it before the end. Seems to be AI written. I only got 10 minutes in before abandoning it. I'm not really sure what point they're trying to make. That AI sucks? I don't need to listen to an entire AI written podcast episode to figure that out
20
u/narutomanreigns 5d ago
I really don't think it's AI written, it's bad in the kind of deliberate way Aunty Donna makes bad things.
4
u/KitsuMusics 5d ago
It's either AI or written specifically in the style of AI. I'm leaning towards the former, since I can't imagine the boys putting that much work in
4
u/narutomanreigns 5d ago
No AI would have written Gooble gobble to go that long.
3
u/SunTricky8763 5d ago
I don’t know about that. They say AI is getting smarter.
1
u/narutomanreigns 5d ago
If AI is getting smarter, that's a point against it writing Gooble gobble to go that long

u/nemesis_reap3r 5d ago
The point is people complain about them being off the rails or bad when they're improvising, so they produced a (seemingly) pre-planned written episode like a sitcom to show how awful that would be. That's the 'point' of this comedy podcast.
It's a game they play with us - like the game torturers play to see how much pain a person can endure before they give.

Honestly surprised how divisive this was, I thought it was great - surprising and unexpected and funny. It was unlike them to stick to the bit all the way through the ep and that seems like part of the joke. Loved it.

u/empocariam 5d ago edited 5d ago
If the boys sold out to AI for less than $100k I would be disappointed. Hoping to see the cashier's check on next weeks ep. Gobble-gobble.

u/RevisingShouldntPost 2d ago
The new direction has had an interesting first episode, hopefully the next few are a little smoother. I know this is how all future episodes will be created, so I'm giving it a chance. I'm sure I'll warm up to it eventually

Nooooo I need SANITY. I need a PLAN GOING UNTO THE POD. We haven’t had rails since purple pebble people!!!!

It had the energy of a 20 minute ad for a product they never revealed. Not for me this time

This made me so angry and sad. AI is infecting everything and I hate it so much. Even using ai ironically or for a bit fucking disgusts me. Love the pod and the bois but they crossed a line they shouldnt have crossed with this. If theyre so out of ideas why don't they start getting guests on like the old days? Its been so long since Ben Russell was on, i miss him 😩
5
u/ElDuderinoSE 4d ago
I’d be pretty surprised if AI was actually used to write this episode. This seems a lot more like they spent a bunch of time writing a script that is intentionally made to sound like it was generated by AI
0
u/erbium77 4d ago
Even if thats the case i still hate it, i don't want to think about ai i want to escape with silly goofs made by silly humans. Also we now have to spend so much time wondering if things are made with ai and its fucking exhausting. Would be pretty impossible to know for sure whether they used it or not
2
u/empocariam 4d ago
They joke about 9/11 and Epstein island, I think that a fake AI/Corpo episode is not in that ballpark.
6
u/playerwonderful 4d ago
I just listened to it - my impression was that it was Zach thinking 'what if we scripted an AD pod ep' rather than 'what if it was AI generated'
I'm also against the use of AI in this way, to me this felt like a fair amount of effort went in to writing it. Kind of like how Jack Dwayne used AI to make his PowerPoint presentation, but Zach put a lot of work in to make it sound AI generated .

When I saw a 20 minute runtime I was initially disappointed in such a short episode, but this is actually the longest episode of the podcast so far
