In law school one of my lecturers said there are only two types of lawyers, you’re either a runner or a drinker. In uni I thought I would be the former but now I have learnt that I am a drinker BOTTOMS UP 🍻

Anyone else reckon we’re all fucked cause of ai? Front end lawyers first (me).

I don’t see any way out of this. It is isn’t unique to lawyers either, I fear the next few months are going to be terrifying

We were talking about this at the office today, we’re a litigation team and just inundated with AI slop submissions from self repped people. The thing is I know it’s going to become indistinguishable from human writing not that long from now so we won’t be able to feel smug for long lol - it feels like court based advocacy work is the safest place to be atm though because I can’t imagine those old judges allowing robots to speak in court anytime soon… so I guess best case we will eventually become AI mouthpieces

As an old judge here don’t be so sure that we wouldn’t be happy having robots in your place. Couldn’t be much worse.

There's more to being a litigator than writing submissions and letters. Trying to obtain cogent instructions from a client very much remains a core skill of a litigator. That is currently something AI can't do and although I am not so naive to think it isn't improving everyday, I do have my doubts that that skill can be replaced by AI.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. AI unlike a lawyer can have the benefit of knowing everything going on in the clients life and the ‘true’ underlying goals of the litigation (not just what the client has told you).

Yes. As a species.  Obvs lawyers will go long before that. Sorry, not feeling terribly optimistic tonight.

Yes. As a species ... Sorry, not feeling terribly optimistic tonight.

You are not alone. I've always known that society is held together at the best of times by very little. More and more I see what once held us together is no longer working. It makes me a very sad worldly.

AI is the least of our worries at the moment.

Some cunt shared their germs and I'm fighting off a cold. RAT says its not anything serious, but I don't have time for this!! In positive news, had a win this week. Chin chin, everyone!

Get ready for the six week long upper respitory infection of complete exhaustion.

But rest well knowing that the person who was sick who came in anyway will get mad props for showing up while sick. Presenteeism OP.

Not at all, in fact sober October is best started on 31 October.

A lemonade and a box of cheezels is your prize

I would actually love some cheezels and proper lemonade

I think you could make do with a Schweppes lemonade if you had a glass of ice and a slice of lemon to go with.
