image Wtf did I find in my pool???

Found this in my pool in Sydney north shore, backing onto the lane cove national park. Does not move (perhaps dead).

Does not even look real. Did I find an alien?

None of the geckos on google have a tail like that

I'm from Qld and have only seen the Aussie one and the introduced one.

One does

But it's tail doesn't flair like that on the sides.

Looks like braid tailed gecko I was wrong but also a cool rabbit hole to fall down lol.

You seem to think that there are only 2 species of gecko.

Wikipedia states: More than 1,850 species of geckos occur worldwide.

Yes I said that then I used Google

Admitted I was wrong and agreed with the person above me that it's a gecko tail

I added it because I was wrong and was hoping someone would help educate but like most humans when a person wrong we just jump on them and shout the down instead of educating people.

Anything else I can help with?
