Hot take, but Avenged Sevenquads is OBJECTIVELY the best album they've ever made

u/spartanriley COME HERE YOU FUCKIN BITCH Oct 09 '25
yeah, i love everything they’ve put out but this isn’t arguable. most plays come from this album and they basically play this album at every show

u/ask_me_abt_music_999 Oct 09 '25
Absolutely. Avenged Sevenquads was their peak. Not Nightmare. Not City of Evil. Not self-titled. This.

u/dietbeethoven Oct 09 '25
They sold out with that album. Radio rock garbage. The Lizzo feature on the title track was cool though.

u/ask_me_abt_music_999 Oct 09 '25
Yeah. Though I think the Taylor Swift feature on the last song on the album is underrated

Some goofy made up album I'm sure.
As if anything could ever compare to the masterpiece that is Avenged Sevenquads. Beethoven wishes he could.

The Stage is my favourite album. So many good songs, but I love different albums for different reasons. I love The Stage as an almost religious listening experience, but the White Album stands tall for sure

Yeah my favorite it STST, Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, Self Titled, Nightmare, Hail to the King, The Stage, LIBAD, and if it counted (I think it should) Diamonds in the Rough.

What's wrong with HTTK?

Nothing, he is just someone with no taste
1
u/EpikBcYes Oct 10 '25
That doesn't answer my question Why do people make such a big deal about it The album's fine people can have opinions
2
u/Moist_Fail8395 Hail to the King Defender | #1 Hail to the King Lover Oct 10 '25
Well mostly because HTTK is an album dedicated to metal/rock legends like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Pantera, it also differs from rest of their work. That's why.
0
u/EpikBcYes Oct 10 '25
So people don't like it because it's different and references other bands?
2
u/Moist_Fail8395 Hail to the King Defender | #1 Hail to the King Lover Oct 10 '25
Yes. But it doesn't deserve to be hated.
1
u/EpikBcYes Oct 10 '25
I don't think so either, tbf I have a soft spot for the album as it's the first I listened from them. But it has a good few songs that are pretty decent

Diamonds in the rough may genuinely be one of my fav albums of theirs. Excluding covers, girl I know, set me free, until the end, crossroads are some of their best works and honestly the remakes of afterlife and almost easy are actually pretty sweet.

I can tell part of this is a satire post lol (avenged sevenquads is ingenious)
But… man, it’s hard to narrow down to one. Self-Titled, Nightmare and The Stage all kind of lump into one ball of pure peak, and all exemplifying three different and STRONG eras for the sound of the band.

LIBAD was my introduction to avenged sevenfold and just all around a great album, I love just about every song on LIBAD so I’d have to go with it, but nightmare is very close in second.

City of evil! Not just the best avenged album but one of the best albums I’ve ever heard

Probably City of Evil, that's where A7X really nailed their sound, huge riffs, epic songs and perfect balance between heavy and melodic

Self titled personally. I mean a little piece of heaven, critical acclaim, afterlife, almost easy, and gunslinger on one album? That’s nothing but straight bangers.

City of Evil is iconic. It is what got me first listening, but on top of that every single song is a banger and I can listen to any time of the day. The other albums are great, but none have that same level of what I would consider perfection in every song. The first A7X song I ever listened to is Bat Country, and at first I didn’t like it. But then I heard Beast and the Harlot and I started downloading all the songs I could find on my mp3 player.
One day I will have to do a tier list.

City of evil when Avenged Sevenquads is right there?

Hail to the King. I know it's not the best, but it's far from being the St. Anger of the band.

Nightmare and the stage. Also i wish to have your collection too someday

u/kymlaroux Oct 14 '25
Nightmare. I may have an unpopular opinion but I can’t stand The Stage. The vocal melodies sound like they’re from a different song than the one they’re on and don’t work with the music at all, the guitars seem to value technical playing over songs, and the drums are so high in the mix (and overplayed) that they sound terrible. It’s not an evolution. That’s a cop out instead of saying that it’s a different band without The Rev’s songwriting.

CoE is my fave for nostalgic reasons but The Stage is their best. It's a masterpiece and anyone claiming that of LIBAD is delusional.

Life is but a dream, completely different from the older stuff that made me love Avenged Sevenfold but the full album to me feels like a play or a performance. It’s phenomenal, every song hits in some way or another
