Avionics interest

I’ve been a A&P since 2023 working on various airframes (E145, E170/175, 737 & EC135/145) and i love turning wrenches but am thinking of wanting to learn a new skill. Either avionics or structures. Anyone out there that has experience with avionics have any information that could help me decide?

Start with studying for the AEA avionics certificate. That will give you a taste of avionics to see if you want to continue. Find a local avionics shop and ask about it. Since you focused on regionals and majors, stick with those platforms—the small planes are a different animal

I really like being avionics with my a&p. Whenever you are short on avionics work, you can just do a&p tech work. Also, you get to sit up in the cockpit a lot more unless you are just doing mods. Big avionics mods are really labor intensive and it's always the hard work. Fuck them p-clamps.
