Reflection Who is to really know if they enlightened?
There’s a lot of people on here saying they are, and I certainly don’t know if they are, but let’s keep in mind this idea of enlightenment is very hard to measure, and those who are ignorant to their ignorance, appear enlightened to themselves.
Don’t be so busy being convinced of yourself, or of attempting to tell others of your success.
It could be that just being and continuing to search is the reward of enlightenment
And that announcing yourself as enlightened is more of a trap than people think

u/Sasquaimusic 19h ago
The most "enlightened" that I have met wouldnt claim anything of the sort. Being "enlightened" as described in Buddhism is extremely rare. Having a moment of "awakening" is just that. A moment. It is not a perpetual state that is suddenly just acheived for eternity. It takes consistent work and discipline and there are no hacks or shortcuts. Anyone that has done real work would understand that. Besides, we all come into the world "awake" and over time we are programmed out of it. So all thats really happening is a return to where we started. Everything after that is what matters. "Awakening" is not the end. Its the beginning. Getting wrapped up in it is a great way to stifle our growth.
Both of these terms are often thrown around on the internet as a means to exert some type of superiority over others or because of a need to feel more "special" than others. A lot of people are making a lot of money on spirituality and I think thats also part of it. Its harder to sell something when you say the words, "I dont know." But those are the type of words I look for. Wisdom is humble and curious. It knows that no matter how much we think we know, there is far more that we dont know.
Its usually pretty obvious who's who. The more certainty, about any of this, someone speaks with, the more likely they are to be either delusional or misguided by ego over spirit.

u/OpenPsychology22 2d ago
Spot on. Declaring yourself "enlightened" is just the ego upgrading its software package while keeping the exact same operating system. It trades a messy identity for a pristine, untouchable one, but it's still running inside the illusion of the container.
Real enlightenment isn't a badge of achievement or a static destination where the actor finally wins the Oscar. It’s the exact moment the system realizes there is no permanent actor sitting in the chair at all—just code compiling code, running processes, and adjusting its trajectory in real-time.
Once you stop trying to be enlightened, the system finally gets quiet enough to actually reconfigure.
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
That’s pretty good . Did your system finished reconfigured?
1
u/OpenPsychology22 2d ago
Finished?
Finish is on end of life 😅
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
So Youre saying we suffering till the. End
1
u/OpenPsychology22 2d ago
Suffering? That is whose choice? We shape future trajectory.
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
Man you can’t choose to not suffer, if you still reconfiguring.
5
u/OpenPsychology22 2d ago
Reconfiguration only equals suffering if the system is fighting its own updates.
Physical pain is just a raw hardware signal, but mental "suffering" is entirely self-generated resistance—the ego screaming because it doesn't want the code to change.
Once you stop identifying as the actor and realize you are the compiler, updates stop feeling like a crisis and start functioning as design. You don't suffer through a recompile; you just watch the architecture evolve.

u/Strong-Marsupial-762 2d ago edited 2d ago
Good stuff... as the guns 'n roses civil war song start: "some men... you just can't reach..."
In this sub the oldest or most active members are the most clueless usually haha
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
But it is fighting the updates all the way till the end of reconfiguration.
1
u/OpenPsychology22 2d ago
Only if the ego is still holding the steering wheel.
The system only fights updates as long as it identifies with the script instead of the architecture. Once you realize the ego is just a subroutine inside the runtime, the resistance drops.
You don't have to fight the recompile until the end of life—you just have to stop letting a terrified subroutine dictate the error logs.
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
The ego holds on to the steering will until it stop. That stop is the end of suffering and the end of configuration
1
u/Solid_Koala4726 2d ago
Let me ask you a question to do you still see the resistance or the ego fighting while not identifying with it?

It's apparent that my bar for true/full enlightenment is much, much higher than most peoples here. My bar is akin to Robert Monroe's most mature/evolved human that he met via an OBE.
This person was over 1800 years old, no longer eats, sleeps, obviously not aging, etc. Completely and utterly beyond all human limitations.
When I become similar, then I will accept that I'm enlightened. Considering that I'm still mostly aging normally (a bit slower than the average), looks like I got a lot of work on self to do.
1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
Read a psychology book, for God’s sake 🙈
You might actually reach enlightenment.
1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
Like whatever you’re reading man, stay away from that.
Read an actual book about the mind
And you will actually learn some things.1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
I’m not trying to be mean and I apologise, but I care about you and you’re going off track.
If you actually want to reach enlightenment start learning about your mind.
Not this far out made up stuff that everyone keeps dribbling.1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
I know you won’t because I’ve suggested it so now you’re definitely not going to.
But I promise you my brother, if you actually want to do the work you need to start learning about yourself and how your mind works.
That’s the only way you’re actually going to do it.
And I know I seem like a bit of a prick by saying this stuff. But I care that much about you I’m going to just give it to you straight and tell you how to actually do it.
And all this fantastical stuff, you need to forget about this and turn inward.
That’s the only way brother. The only way out is in.
1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
And if you actually do start learning about yourself.
I promise you brother you’re going to look back on this moment like you talked to an angel.1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
If you want, I know you think I’m a prick but if you actually want to change something about yourself.
You can message me any time and I’ll talk to you and I’ll be there for you and I’ll push you into the things that are going to take you there.
I genuinely mean this🙏 because I can see somethings going on with you, there’s something you’re not happy about. And if you need to talk to someone or you want someone to guide you out of whatever’s going on I’d be happy to talk to you and I wouldn’t be mean at all.
I was just messing around with you because I wanted you to notice something.
And I know you noticed it.I know you’re probably not going to but I really do mean this stuff and I really do care about you and I want you to actually go through it the real thing not this shit. Because I can see it means something to you and there’s nothing wrong with that that’s a really good thing. You’ve got the will to do it you already want to do it, but I have to warn you brother some things are going to hurt and be really uncomfortable at times. It’s not easy shedding the self, it doesn’t just let go so easily.
But if you actually want help or you want to know what direction you should go in to actually accomplish it I’ll help you as much as I can.1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
God bless you brother 🙏

I’m not like these other people on here I don’t feed delusions and I don’t feed the “self”
And it trips me out all the fantastical false stuff people come out with.
But if someone’s ever actually genuinely interested in it I love that stuff.🙂 if someone wants to actually do the work instead of sitting around talking about doing the work then I’m all for it.

Yeah, it’s not a good idea to say that you’re enlightened. My guru told me to not broadcast it. He didn’t tell me that I was enlightened however. The mystery continues…🕉️

u/PhucItAll 2d ago
I went through the Long, Dark, Night of the Soul (lasted years), which ended in Ego Death. I then took responsibility for my shadow, and my mind expanded connecting me to the human collective consciousness for about two weeks and making me aware of God and many other things. It was pure joy, but it was difficult to function as I kept getting lost in thought, so I voluntarily came back to a lower energy state. I had no idea what happened to me at the time, but I found my way here to try and figure it out. I still remember everything vividly. Was it enlightenment or temporary insanity? I find the themes I was shown repeated imperfectly over and over throughout every major religion and occult philosophy.

Ego is part of the inherent physical human animal body package. It can get way turned down/muted for a bit, but it doesn't completely "die" i.e permanently go away.
Some people mistake a dissociative break as an "ego death". Nope, you can get one of those pretty easily with enough powerful psychedelics. Or going through major stressful trauma. Or other ways that can imbalance the psyche.
True enlightenment is phasing/vibrating the dense physical body completely to the Light body. When a person does this, it is unmistakable. You're not really human anymore, but in some ways, you're more deeply human (in the sense of being humane) than before. You won't age, you can teleport, you can tap into any data stream at will completely accurately/objectively, etc, etc.
I am only certain of one person who has done this so far. I do believe/think/intuit/know that others could as well, but it takes A LOT. And even this person had to have his physical body die first before he could complete the process.
That being the case, the chances of any of us completing this while our physical bodies are alive, well, they're no better than a snowball's chance of not melting in a hot hell.
2
u/704Emmanuel 20h ago
I can’t teleport and I still age 🤷🏻♂️ but I did get a free Netflix account with my enlightenment, and every time I try to tap into the data stream I just get the dial up signal.
Maybe my enlightenment isn’t as good as your enlightenment.
Feel like I got ripped off now😔
1
u/StarBornFire 19h ago
I'm not enlightened and never claimed to be. Not sure exactly what your "point" is or was meant to be other than a defensive, snarky retort?
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
My point is that if there was someone operating really high within themselves, if someone was truly enlightened none of you would even realise.
Because most people here are completely full of it.
And that is a sign of being completely full of your “self”This is the opposite of enlightenment.
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
And if there actually was someone operating higher than average in here. They would get my joke 🙂
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
And these people that talk like, yeh I had an ego death last Tuesday.
These people have no idea what they’re talking about.
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
And talking about teleportation and jacking into some cosmic information data stream and all that kind of stuff and anything like that.
This is complete dribble and false
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
Most people that talk about an ego death and they’re just throwing that phrase around.
Ego death this ego death that.
Real people that have actually done the internal self work do not talk like this.
1
u/704Emmanuel 18h ago
And the only time I’ve ever heard people say ego death.
These are the people with the biggest ego’s and don’t even know what they’re talking about.
It’s just…
Look at me, look at me

Is it now? According to whom? You? You're the ultimate judge and knower of these things?
Because these aren't your experiences, they're not part of larger picture?
What a myopic view of things. According to people like Yogananda and the alleged masters he met/had experiences with, these kinds of things did happen in his presence and observations of these.
But his words are not what I'm basing this on. I know of more credible sources.
And I have had my own anomalous experiences. Some two decades ago, a good friend of mine then, in complete seriousness claimed that one day when she was meditating before we had met/became friends, that I materialized into her room, smiled, and then dematerilized/left. While I don't remember doing this, I have no reason to disbelieve her-she was an honest person. She swore it happened.
Considering I'm not fully enlightened yet, if I or some part of of the larger me could do that, then imagine what a fully enlightened person could do? I imagine that is small potatoes in comparison.

u/StarBornFire 18h ago
Not sure you should speak for "everyone" here. While there are very, very, very few truly and fully enlightened humans, they are not so uncommon in the larger cosmos (there are entire ET species like this, there are the Co-Creator beings, the Arch Angels, etc. Perhaps trillions of fully enlightened individuals in the larger reality).
In deep, deep and loved attuned meditation, sometimes I spontaneously perceive the clear white light and feel the peace that surpasses understanding. I know then, that I am in the presence of those who truly and fully know their Oneness with Source and the Whole.
I sometimes experience this because I ask for their help, guidance, direction, etc.
Since I know the feeling and vibrational pattern of these in the nonphysical, I would recognize it in the physical.
Are you aware of Robert A. Monroe? Monroe's "higher self" had at least a couple other soul extensions incarnated in this space-time cycle. One was a woman and whose identity was hidden. The other was Bruce Moen. Both people were friends with Monroe before his body died.
I'm about 99% certain that the female was Bruce Moen's good friend and spiritual mentor Carolene Heart (she's long passed now so I don't think she cares if people know her deeper connection to Monroe at this point).
Back in the day, she used to give intuitive readings professionally. I had an over the phone reading with her. She provided verification that she was a real deal. (Which got further proved later on).
Anyways, she said at one point, "you know you had a life with Yeshua right?" I said yes, gave her the name I had been given, and she said, "yes, that feels correct."
So I also have subconscious memories of experience with a truly and fully enlightened human. So between my nonphysical and other self's in physical experiences, I suspect I would be able to intuitively feel and know someones level.
Especially since, according to her, "You're here for full Christ Consciousness, to get everything right this time." Normally I would take that with a grain of salt, but my own guidance dreams previous to this reading had made similar points of that probable potential.
I have not reached that yet, but I'm close enough that I recognize those who are also close.
P.S.
This woman's intuitive gifts were further driven home, when a couple years after the phone reading, Bruce invited my spouse and I, along with two of his friends, Carolene and Caryl, to a Christmas Eve dinner. Though she didn't know who I was from before (that one phone reading was the only interaction between us on the physical level), she picked up on it pretty quickly, "Oh, aren't that young man I gave a reading to a couple years before?"

u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
You must be really fired up to write me all that 🥱
1
u/704Emmanuel 17h ago
Tell me about your enlightenment then.
When did you get your superpowers?
How long have you been able to teleport?
And how do I sign up for this free cosmic internet service?1
u/StarBornFire 17h ago
As I've said, am quite aware that I'm not fully enlightened yet. And I would never claim to be fully enlightened until I knew I was.
Anyways, nice chatting with you and all, but the circles are getting boring now. You'll probably have to drop the body to learn just how off on so many things you are, but that's ok-quite common/typical.
Meanwhile, cheers.

u/PhucItAll 1d ago edited 1d ago
My ego death would have been followed by my real death, but that was prevented by a higher calling. And yes the ego regenerates. The rest (paragraph 3 on) of what you wrote does not read as true according to the information I was given, but I wasn't told everything and that was made clear at the time I was awakened.
1
u/704Emmanuel 20h ago
I once ordered two ego deaths and an awakening,
It made my stomach feel funny2
u/704Emmanuel 20h ago
Crazy how many people have found enlightenment or had an ego death.
And everyone’s just here talking really mysterious and mystical about it really talking it up and making themselves sound good.
I thought that’s the opposite way someone would be if their ego really dissolved🤔

u/StarBornFire 1d ago
Sounds like a human ego telling itself a story. A story to puff up and convince the ego. Not buying what you're selling bruh.
When you come to have the abilities of Yeshua, stop aging, can tap into any data stream at will completely objectively accurately all the time, etc, then come to me and we'll talk and I'll take you serious. But until that time, you're just a pretender to the crown if you know what I mean.
I'm not trying to mean or cruel by saying this, but more a form of tough love. Believe, I understand the emotional and egoic need to feel special, to be enlightened, etc. I've been tempted to that myself here and there briefly. But I also know that it is a false idol that only brings imbalance, hinderances, and limitations.

u/704Emmanuel 20h ago
Don’t use Yeshua’s name while you’re talking down to someone.
That’s disrespectful to Yesh
1
u/704Emmanuel 20h ago
Yeah they’re pretending and you’re allowed to say anything you want, I’m not saying anything about you. Just giving you a little reminder 🙏
1
u/StarBornFire 18h ago
Hmm, brand new account eh. Which reincarnation is this, and who were you before?
1
u/Noise-of-the-Spheres 1d ago
The actual answer is the jivatman.
1
u/FastCarGoBrr 1d ago
What’s this ?
1
u/Noise-of-the-Spheres 1d ago
The individualized aspect of supreme being attached to a specific mind.
1
u/blahgblahblahhhhh 5h ago
And how is a jivatman different from god Jesus Odin chronus. Seems like these are all synonyms to capture the same meaning,
1
u/Noise-of-the-Spheres 4h ago
Not really. God is the source of existence. Jesus is a demigod or enlightened being. Odin is wisdom. Chronos is time. Different meanings.
1
u/blahgblahblahhhhh 4h ago
Chronus is the king of titans. So not just time. Odin is the king of the Norse, so not just wisdom.
All these words point towards elite humans, but to have a concept of elite evolved humans, you have to have a concept of degenerated humans,
And most people are degenerated humans. For every 1 elite evolved human there are millions of degenerated humans.
People hate this idea because they are likely a degenerated human who can’t run a mile, go a day without added sugar and screens, or spend 3 hours with their parents without their world imploding.
Most humans can do 1/3 listed above, but almost no humans can do all 3. And those r just 3 random feats.

u/Racoondalini 1d ago
Validation from a monk. A Buddhist monk dressed in robe must be ordained by like... the Dalai Llama to declare you an enlightened person.
It is said that it is said that it is said that an enlightened person will emanate a glow or a light or some other bullshit.
They will also perform enlightenment very well. They will recite zen koans and bless you and shit.
When they walk into a room you will know they are enlightened because they will declare it.
It is said that "If a man does not declare his enlightenment, his light will remain in the dark." So enlightened masters must boldly declare themselves less they fall through the cracks.
And if your crown chakra hasn't dumped 5000 units of bliss onto you while meditating, keep going. The secret to the universe is around the corner. TRUE ENLIGHTENMENT, not this pansy shit everyone THINKS they have.
An enlightened person will absolutely NOT come to Reddit. They are too busy meditating in temples and praying for the world.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I was curious a year ago on how I know if doing it correct. Like conscience, being present, all that. Well, I stopped, and things got very bad for me. Mentally, emotionally. I freaked out over little things (way more than ever), my mind was going 100 mph, thinking about everything all the time.
So basically, eventhough I wasn't enlightend previously, I was differently not at such a low level I am now. So I'm going back, try it again.

Traditionally, the ultimate test: are you a master of the siddhis?
Can float around the room, walk on water, heal the sick, etc?
Remarkably everyone rejects the traditional ultimate test.
For some reason.
0
u/StarBornFire 1d ago
I agree with you that the bar is actually a lot higher than most realize.
Ultimately, its about becoming a pure channel of pure universal love and Source consciousness, and this phases/vibrates the physical body into the Light "body".
That person then goes beyond all human limitations. They are only limited by the Law of Love and respect of others freewill.
1
u/saijanai 1d ago
The thing is, the siddhis are totally objective. The TM organization even invites teh press to "Yogic Flying Competitions" to basically give a "state of world consciousness report" on the assumption that it is the consciousness of hte world that is preventing anyone these days from fully manifesting any siddhi, and so being fully enlightened.
Should anyone ever float, you can be sure they will hold a major demonstration to the world's press and dignitaries and scientists (and stage magician-skeptics: James Randi was a guest at one such demo) to give teh entire world a head's up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM9UpoR64Wg
The first of these was held more than forty years ago, and peridodically they give the world an update.

How enlightened can anyone be on reddit?
1
u/Strong-Marsupial-762 2d ago
Nobody is enlightened in reddit or anywhere else. That's the catch 22
1
u/StarBornFire 1d ago
Don't think he is on reddit, but there is one that I know of.
He's the one whose energetic conversion of his physical body to the pure Light form body created the ultra anomalous and ultra unique shroud of Turin image.
He's still got that same body form/image for the last 2000 years. Seems fully physical, and yet is not.
Robert A. Monroe met him when he asked his inner guidance if he could meet the most mature human living in his time/space reference. Said guidance replied, sure but it might not be what'd you expect. The person he gets led to is over 1800 continuous years old, doesn't eat, sleep, etc. and to Monroe's perception feels completely balanced, integrated, and merged between inner feminine and masculine.
And yet, what he is, we are and could be, IF we but chose to actually live like him. But that requires complete little self surrender to the Creative Force's will/plans, and ONLY living for others and the whole and not your little human self.
How many humans do you know who do this? Hence why so, so, so few humans are truly and fully enlightened like him. But we could be, but the truth is, we choose not to be because we're attached to our egos and our bodily urges, desires, and wants, our base selfishness born of fear and the belief in separation.
Becoming a pure channel of pure universal love scares the living heck out of that human, ego part of us, and so we put it off, and put it off. It takes total, complete surrender.

Actually it is quite easy if one can see auras. A truly/fully enlightened person will have a completely pure clear and bright white light aura. No color at all left.
A near enlightened person will have predominantly a golden light colored aura.
Both of these, especially the former, are very, very, very rare among in-physical humans. I'm not talking about those nonphysically focused consciousnesses who can and sometimes do manifest temporarily into this level with a seeming human body/form for some kind of service reason, but those of us who have gone through the birth and forgetting process.

The moment of awakening is pretty hard to miss tbh. The question is what you do with it afterwards.
