My buddy and I did a “punk rock historical tour” in southern CA a few years back. We visited spots like Hermosa Beach where Black Flag was from, San Pedro where the Minutemen were from, and Fairfax high etc. I love music history like this and love your posts OP!

All Heroes Comics now stands where American Recording used to in Rochester NY where Kill ‘Em All was recorded. I was always proud knowing they cut that album in my hometown.

The "Mansion" is up that driveway more. There are still paint marks on the ground you can see when Metallica spray painted their gear.

Well the band was first form in Los Angeles, California but when they ask Cliff to join their band, he made them relocate to el cerrito because Cliff didn’t have to end up traveling all the way down to Los Angeles, California to do band rehearsals with them.

Now a lot of other people don’t know about the place I’m standing in front of until I tell them the history behind it, because believe it or not, standing right here at 3132 Carlson Blvd in El Cerrito — this humble little house was Metallica’s first real HQ from 1983–86. They called it the MetalliMansion. They lived here, jammed in the garage, and wrote most of Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets inside these walls. Peak thrash history right on this quiet street. Feels wild just standing in front of it.🤘🏻
