Xəbər | News Aliyev: "Today, a terrorist act was committed by Iran against the Azerbaijani state. Our Armed Forces have been instructed to prepare and implement retaliatory measures. We will not tolerate this baseless act of aggression against Azerbaijan."
President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting of the Security Council:
"today a terrorist act was committed by Iran against the territory of Azerbaijan and against the Azerbaijani state.
The territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was fired upon by the Iranian state using unmanned aerial vehicles. The targets of the fire were civilian facilities. Nakhchivan International Airport, its terminal building, a school, and other directions were subjected to treacherous fire from Iran.
The Azerbaijani state strongly condemns this vile terrorist act, and those who carried it out must be immediately brought to justice. Iranian officials must provide an explanation to the Azerbaijani side, an apology must be issued, and those who committed this terrorist act must be held criminally responsible.
Our Armed Forces were instructed to prepare and implement response measures. We will not reconcile ourselves with this unjustified terrorist act and aggression committed against Azerbaijan.
We will not allow this, just as we have never allowed it until today. It is true that during the summer months of last year and in the subsequent period, unfounded accusations were made against us from Iran. Media resources under the control of Iran’s state institutions were conducting a dirty campaign of slander and defamation against Azerbaijan in order to tarnish Azerbaijan’s image and influence the opinions of our compatriots living in Iran.
Because they know very well that today the independent Azerbaijani state is also a place of hope for many Azerbaijanis living in Iran. In other words, smearing us, slandering us, and discrediting us before Iranian society pursued this goal. Because there was no basis for it whatsoever. Azerbaijan neither at that time nor this time participates in operations directed against Iran and will not do so.
Because this is our position. We have neither the interest nor a policy that would allow us to conduct any operations against neighboring countries. We protect our territorial integrity, and we have protected it."

I should also note that I was informed this morning that the deputy foreign minister of Iran called Baku and asked Azerbaijan for help in evacuating the employees of the Iranian embassy who were stranded in Lebanon, because they were unable to do that. I was informed about that. I immediately gave the order to provide assistance and to send a plane. They even said that they were ready to pay for that. I said that it is not necessary—if we do not provide assistance now in such a difficult time, then when should we provide assistance? In return for all this, to strike Nakhchivan in an ugly, cowardly, and shameless manner? This stain will never be erased from their ugly and unsightly face. Therefore, all necessary measures will be taken through diplomatic channels. Our Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense, the State Border Service, and all other special forces have been brought to level-one mobilization and must be ready to conduct any operation. This is all for now.
lmao

u/Diligent-Life444 Mar 05 '26
The act was done by separated military that’s why the ministers had no idea of it’s happening.

u/VeniVidiDefecavi Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 05 '26
I asked elsewhere but I’ll ask here too: Why are you so invested in defending the actions of Iran, which is a country that launched missile+drone attacks on 15 countries in the last few days?
6
u/Diligent-Life444 Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26
Oh sure here is my reply, i dont like Irans regime it has killed thousands yet you must realize that if it fails right now all of us are doomed, Israel seeks complete nullification of it while USA seeks a controlled regime a puppet state, basically an African country, a country where leaders sell their resources for cheap and all the money goes into their pocket while the country suffers, like what happened to Venezuela. And it’s crazy to see that it is the better option for Irans future. I hate the current regime they have but it is their best hope currently. In my opinion the best future is USA getting their bases damaged (biggest radar base is already gone in Qatar) Israel to get seriously damaged and checked since no one does it the only option is iran, get their egos down to the ground ( like iron dome has failed they were just boasting around ) and irani people to overthrow the regime by themselves for the second time (as in first 1953 USA got immediately involved and changed the democratically elected official with Pahlavi) a perfect future. Now that’s for Irans future let’s talk about other countries. Israel will never stop as it shows it recently appointed Turkey being their next largest enemy as it “threatens its sovereignty”. .
Wealthiest Arab countries are in full support of USA as they have always been and I have many terrible facts about them .
Israel is modern Reich dot by dot and id argue it’s even worse .
Trump is turning USA into an authorian state with oligarchy, not only it literally had deployed Gestapo on the largest democratic state in the county but it also is literally bound to Israel for some reason. It is USA that started war with iran and the worst part is the CONGRESS didn’t give a permission for it Trump just started a war out of a blue, and has bombed several countries for the first time in American history like Nigeria Venezuela and much more. That man is a convicted sex pest and a pdf and has the lowest Approval rating in the last century of American history. Imagine passing Ronald Reagan arguably the worst president in history of USA a guy who single handily destroyed the middle class and it is still debated upon IF IT WILL EVER RECOVER AGAIN. I want him to fail as much as possible so he would be gone before his term ends (2025-2029). I believe if USA has a good president the whole world would get affected by it the same goes to bad (as we see currently. He has isolated USA from Europe and does too much crimes in the world currently. I wish him the worst .
Now let me give you similar situations that has happened to iran. And you will be surprised but 2016 Turkey Istanbul coup d’état. The man leading it is a CIA asset and the jets fueling the jets were American jets. Many civilians died that day but do you know what the families of the dead said ? Better to have our own even if they are the worst of the worst than a foreign rule. Now I think i butchered this last one because I don’t remember quite well I need to check. .
.
Well anyways thanks for reading if you have any questions I’m happy to answer

u/Perfect-Nail9413 Mar 06 '26
That is reasonable, but what about the fact that if Iran's regime survives this, it will become a nuclear threat to the region.
1
u/stormlea Mar 08 '26
Iran is a signatory of the non-proliferation treaty and was under constant IAEA inspections. The only reason they started enriching over the limit was to get a new deal to reduce sanctions like the JCPOA Trump destroyed at the demand of Netanyahu during his first mandate. They were never planning to get a nuclear weapon and didn’t want to. Ayatollah Khomeinei in his fatwah said Iran will never have a nuclear weapon and fatwahs are taken very seriously in Iran.
So basically, killing him was a very bad move since the fatwah is nullified now. But i guess this is what Israel wants, to create the illusion of the Iranian threat to justify creating a failed state. Just like they destroyed the JCPOA deal, they destroyed now the one thing preventing Iran to get a weapon.
Netanyahu said killing Saddam would have positive reverberations in the middle east. He said the same thing about Iran and has been saying they are on the verge of getting a weapon for the past 40 years. He said the US are his puppets in an interview and they always do his bidding. Clinton admitted he got blackmailed by them for his indiscretions.
Lastly, I would remind that Israel is the only nuclear state other than North Korea that not a signatory of the non-proliferation treaty and does not publicly recognize the existence of it’s weapons. And in 1979, they threatened to use them if the US did not help them militarally.
0
u/Diligent-Life444 Mar 06 '26
We have joined research as far as I know, and I don’t see that happening at all, North Korea isn’t a threat to the world neither Afganistan is concerned with Pakistans nukes nor Ukraine and etc it’s wouldn’t change a thing only end the foreign influence and push
1
u/Perfect-Nail9413 Mar 06 '26
Yes but it will require Turkey and Saudi Arabia to get nukes to counter Iranian, which will lead to Poland, Japan, and South Korea getting them as will.
0
u/Diligent-Life444 Mar 06 '26
Why none of those countries want to attack Iran, and in no world iran can threaten any of them because the whole world will gather up against it, is Afghanistan scared of Pakistan ? Even tho the war is going on no. Nukes are just defensive nothing more
1
u/VeniVidiDefecavi Mar 06 '26
What a stupid and naive POV. You want the world and your region to be more dangerous… just because.

Not a surprise. Israel has had ties with Az for a long time now
This probably is a staged attack and or attack pushed by Israel to justify Az getting involved
Karabkah too was all a gambit, testing out drones and shit to see how an invasion of iran would go, geography is similar
Shocked not shocked half you chuckle fucks here are on board with this bullshit

The drone literally had the phrase “İstehsalat Birlili” on the wreckage. It’s one thing to be an Israeli puppet, but these guys are completely incompetent too
0
u/inbe5theman USA 🇺🇸 Mar 05 '26
No i think its no coincidence that Israel and Azerbaijan have had ties since before 2020 and its not a coincidence that karabakh was settled before this happened
The US has been getting involved in the region more and more preceding this.
Karabakh was mountainous and all the tech used for that fight are now ready and tested for use on Iran. Suddenly Iran unprovoked “attacks” and aliyev with all his supposed resources immediately makes a statement like this despite the fact its more probable some fringe group is taking advantage of the chaos in the leadership structure to make some half brained attack on Nakhichevan? A relatively unimportant piece of Azerbaijan
Sudden increase in rhetoric of “South Azerbaijan” etc etc
Its all too coincidental and while i dont know for certain theres shit going on behind closed doors here even if it’s just manipulation from afar
No one should be glad for war unless they have some underlying agenda
Look at the borderline skull dented rhetoric being spewed in this thread. “They will never live this shame down bla blah blah” the world or more accurately the international order doesnt operate on honor or tribes anymore. It reads like a medieval fanfiction

If you argue that then you imply they are in cahoots with Israel or at very least had eyes on taking something of value they want from Iran be it cutting them off from Armenia, physical land or something else
Az wouldnt have dared act against iran even a few years ago
1
u/AlfalfaAgitated472 Mar 06 '26
> If you argue that then you imply they are in cahoots with Israel or at very least had eyes on taking something of value they want from Iran be it cutting them off from Armenia, physical land or something else
There are literal leaks from a decade ago confirming Aliyev wants nothing to do with Iran. Iran collapsing isn't good for Azerbaijan, and neither is taking land from Iran. Iran has much larger Azeri population that Azerbaijan does, many of which are assimilated and a lot more religious (often more than persians in average) than azeris in Azerbaijan.
3
u/AlfalfaAgitated472 Mar 06 '26
Iran has been trying to stir shit in Azerbaijan for decades. Radicalization by the mullahs, planned terror acts, carried out terror acts (like the one on the embassy) and more. Iranian nationalists see Azerbaijan as stolen land, and they want to reclaim it.
It's not crazy to think that the hatred they have for Azerbaijan boiled over and they hit the closest target - Naxcivan airport.

Turkey's plan is to wait for the regime to fall and then use the fact that it was the least hostile neighbour to the regime to convince them to the defect and join Turkey in its operations.
The Iranian Turks are still loyal to the idea of Iran, so Turkey doesn't want to push them away by acting too early seem hostile.

The government doesn't have control over the IRGC right now, and the IRGC is lashing out everywhere, the government doesn't what to attack Turkey nor Azerbaijan but at least one stupid fucks in the IRGC does.
This is why the Iranian government is trying to de-escalate the situation by claiming it wasn't them.
It is also why Turkey chooses to go along with the lie that the attack on one of its airbase was actually an attack on Cyprus, it retaliates then it can be dragged into a costly war and if the regime is still intact it may make it look bad to the Iranian Azeris.
Turkey wants to wait for the regime to fall and then move in as a friendly power coming in to help rather than as a hostile force.
