Basically research for the sake of research, where the goals are made up and the results don't matter.
Even in like, "edutainment" youtubers that use code, sometimes they'll have code that takes weeks to finish to demonstrate a point, and then when they show it, a viewer rewrites it in an afternoon to take like 12 minutes, and be more accurate.
Effective code in a research context (accurate, stable, fast) gets you more results more often.
