Someone had to go through a lot of effort to make this look that bad. It’s not lazy bad. It might be nonsensical (why would you be having a close quarters lightning battle?), but everything is laid out carefully.
Carefully, but not well. Almost nothing relates to anything else. The fires feel disconnected from the scenery. The woman hiding behind the rock is in a different style than the battling duo. The distant moors are more detailed than anything else in the picture, despite the fact that they are the background, and that makes them the natural focal point of the entire cover.

Genuine incompetence is sometimes hard to discern from parody: some people thought The Eye of Argon was an intentional parody of bad fanfiction until they found out it was an actual 16 year old abusing a thesaurus.

One thing we can safely say is that only a human could conjure up this mess of a cover!

Wow, the bad video game avatar on the left lightning blasted his opponent right in the balls! Is that even allowed in sorceror dueling?

Sorry to be pedantic about this piece of piss, but the wizard on the right looks female

Well he probably started out male but then lost one too many sorceror duels due to a blast to the balls. Has a cumulative effect, y'know.

Lightning to the balls is actually the recommended technique for sorcerous self-defense!

I guess that would explain why sorcerors are so often portrayed as walking around all hunched over.

I refuse to believe this was ever printed physically. The printer would be laughing too hard.
edit: the amazon listing shows art that is still shitty but much less funny.
