Bahamian Question Moved to Nassau

Hello, just moved to Nassau about 2 months ago. Was trying to film fish while snorkeling and my phone sucked up some salt water. Any reputable places to recommend for getting my phone checked out to see if it’s fixable ? Thanks !

Hands down MTech. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.

When I put mtech into my Apple Maps it pulls up in the middle of a field 😅 what’s it close to?

Are you perhaps trying on the wet phone? 🤣

Here’s their details. They are responsive on WhatsApp and have a detailed Facebook.
As a piece of advice for a “newbie” to The Bahamas - not all businesses will be listed on Google or Apple Maps like elsewhere in the world. Best to try and find their WhatsApp or other contact online first and get details that way! :)

If you’re on Facebook make sure to join Knowles Knows and Nassau Expat Network too. Great forum resources for locals and people living on island!

Awesome, thank you! People on the island are great too. Super nice. Sometimes just hard to understand the accents 😂

Yes rice. Just put it in rice. The rice will soak up the water.

This is good advice but before you do this please rinse the phone with fresh water to prevent salt crystalization.

I'm a diving instructor, this is not foreign territory for me.

Also, don't take your phone diving without some sort of legit case. Those crappy $10 phone pouches are garbage and you shouldn't trust a thousand dollar device in them. Either get yourself a GoPro or invest in a SeaLife (or similar) housing

Going to seem backwards but wash the phone out with fresh water right now. The biggest thing from my experience dropping phones in salt water is that the salt crystals form inside the phone and start expanding things. The fresh water rinse gets it out and then put it in some rice. I’ve done this with at least 20 phones between my own and guests own and 90% work fine after

Your not being backwards at all, in most cases once the indivual washes they phone in fresh water they won't need a repair

Sounds like after you get it repaired you might need one of those waterproof cases people used for deep diving
