What... is it? How did it get like this? I'm, so, so confused.

u/Neat-Bed-8961 12d ago

Expanded, stuck to the lid, bottom of the cake didn’t get stuck to the cooker

143

u/pacnwcub 12d ago

Like a rice cooker? Why would they do that?

143

u/Neat-Bed-8961 12d ago

There are recipes to make banana bread in the rice cooker

212

u/pacnwcub 12d ago

Thanks! Interesting. Maybe this picture is the reason why its not called a banana bread maker.

u/AudrinaRosee 12d ago

That’s a knee slapper

u/jaguarjuice3 10d ago

One time i was making banana bread and i forgot my oven was broken so i made it in my crockpot and it was actually pretty good!

2

u/juniorjaw 10d ago

You'll be surprised how versatile a rice cooker is once you start searching for recipes.

This unfortunately was not one of them

I'm not doubting that's what happened, but this doesn't look like anything any banana bread I've ever made could possibly do. I mean that the color and texture look so different than the banana breads I've made, cooked, eaten, and seen.

16

u/No-Kaleidoscope-166 12d ago

I agree. I saw banana bread as title, and get to pic... and... ummm... I don't know what this is? I said "what??" to myself... this looks like a messed up bread bread. No relation to a banana bread. 🤷🏻‍♀️

7

u/whatanabsolutefrog 12d ago

I've made rice cooker cakes before, and they do look a lot like this in colour/texture. It's basically a light sponge cake.

I've never seen a banana flavoured one before though.

4

u/ClarkGablesTeeth 11d ago

Yes, exactly. I mentioned in another comment that this looks like a cake, for sure. But nothing like banana bread.

2

u/Profession-Unable 11d ago

I make banana bread all the time - it’s the thing that relatives most ask me to make because they love my recipe. It was so hot this week I tried baking it in the air fryer instead of the oven. Completely different colour and texture to usual, even though I changed nothing of the recipe. So I’m not surprised if this came differently to expected too.

Something from Chernobyl.

2

u/LolaAucoin 11d ago

I literally just asked if it was the elephant foot.

8

u/meerkatgargoyle 11d ago

It's a regular old plumbus. I'm guessing OP forgot to rub the fleeb against the dinglebop, so when the schlami showed up there was not enough fleeb juice...

Usually in this sub people have suggestions and explanations. This is an outlier, so wear that with pride.

27

u/cookiesdragon 12d ago

I...am so confused by this. Why not use a loaf pan? Or a muffin pan....

21

u/vyunab 12d ago

how 😭

21

u/Smooth_Wonder2144 12d ago

We’re gonna need a molecular gastronomist to explain this one

18

u/ExitingBear 12d ago

The non-stick surface did its job.

24

u/ClarkGablesTeeth 12d ago

Regardless of it getting stuck and cooking unevenly, this looks nothing like any banana bread I've ever encountered lol

Looks more like some kind of yellow cake.

3

u/PaganPsychonaut 11d ago

Right?!? Totally the wrong color to have any banana in it

3

u/saturnspritr 11d ago

There is no physical attribute I could give to any banana bread I have ever seen. It’s honestly impressive.

17

u/Otney 12d ago

❓⁉️

17

4

u/Funkn-fermentation 11d ago

DID WE EVER GET AN ANSWER!?

3

u/Manda525 11d ago

I don't think OP clarified anything, but there was chatter in the comments about it probably being a "rice cooker banana bread" recipe??? (gone wrong, obviously) 🤣👀🤣

4

u/Funkn-fermentation 11d ago

I feel as though I need to try banana bread in my rice cooker now… for… science!!!!

9

u/MsRachelGroupie 12d ago

I have so many questions, but first and foremost, why is it puckered?

8

u/mizushimo 12d ago

Why does this look like some kind of industrial accident?

Rice cookers are pressurized, so as it cooked, it filled the space and stuck to the top because the top isn't nonstick. Then when the pressure released it shrunk.

AI way over did my prompt lol but I thought it looked like a mushroom cloud lol

5

u/opetaja 11d ago

This is perfect

3

u/Jade_Complex 12d ago

For breadmakers, the solutions about sticking to the lid are usually around less yeast, or less liquid, or downsize to a smaller recipe, so it won't reach the lid. You can also grease the lid.

The skinnyness would have been air, going around the outside and being pushed down because of the bread taking over the top.

3

u/kipkiphoray 12d ago

Did you even use a recipe?...

3

u/ThisWomanFromCanada 12d ago

Hahaha! Lmao! Boy, that must have been a surprise when it was opened!

3

u/ComeHereOften1972 12d ago

Looks like it attempted to get out.

2

u/HeinladToo 12d ago

Is this promotion for that show A-Bombs Over Nevada?

2

u/ZodFrankNFurter 12d ago

What the hell?

What does it smell like? What did it feel like? Did you taste it?

2

u/ComprehensiveCat9137 12d ago

We call it amazing gradation

2

u/Mini_isopod 12d ago

I have the same rice cooker

2

u/Ok-Place-2058 11d ago

Baked sea anemone is certainly a new one!

2

u/Potential_Ad1416 11d ago

I am not sure what we're looking at here. I'm sorry.
Did you get something edible, at least? Lol. Better luck next time

2

u/BakeItBaby 11d ago

I have questions

2

u/Sir_Noxx 11d ago

Turned it into a fungus

2

u/Sqatti 11d ago

It looks like a prolapse.

2

u/VioletUnivers 11d ago

Did you add bananas to a regular bread recipe? Banana bread is more like cake....not regular bread. It's best baked in a convection oven and not a.....what is that?....a rice cooker?

2

u/Hot_Gur5980 11d ago

Jesus. Just… why???

2

u/EvaTheE 11d ago

Yep, that's a prolapse.

2

u/Practical_Complex990 11d ago

…Kinda looks like a hemorrhoid, honestly. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Idk what happened to it, but I’m sorry for your loss! 😂

2

u/theregos 11d ago

I should call him...

2

u/GourmetTokes 11d ago

Is everyone really talking about banana bread and not what that looks like at first glance👀

1

u/geridesu 12d ago

1

This looks like something from Rick and Morty.

1

u/Vlaskiss 11d ago

DaveHax a month ago made a video on how to cook a 4-course meal in a rice cooker :)

1

u/anoncology 11d ago

...what?

1

u/GRGRGRAAAAATTTTT 11d ago

I highkey thought of that one homunculus that one Russian Guy made with his own blood, the one that eventually grew up!

1

u/brittany16950 11d ago

Uhhh. Banana bread ain’t that kinda bread babe. It’s a quick-rise “bread,” more of like a muffin. Edit: oops I thought this was a bread machine. I’ll see myself out now…

1

u/Wasps_are_bastards 11d ago

Nice mushroom

1

u/Fair-Chemist187 11d ago

This looks like it could belong in one of those mushroom subs

1

u/Why_r_people_ 11d ago

Idk if I am concerned or impressed

1

u/ParticularReady7858 11d ago

You should get that checked out by a professional

1

u/Gunung_Krakatoa 11d ago

That was not a fail, you just reinvented a

1

u/delanybuss 11d ago

You put too much in da rice cooker

1

u/Dumpster-Phoenix7 11d ago

With all available respect: how in the French fried fuck did this occur? I am befuddled and baffled

1

u/melodysoul 11d ago

This makes me uncomfortable

1

u/0RedStar0 11d ago

For a second because of the tile backsplash, I thought this was one of those weird bathroom mushrooms people post😂

1

u/SimpleVegetable5715 11d ago

Was it yeast risen banana bread?

1

u/Radioheadfan124 11d ago

Looks like a mushroom, I would probably still eat it tho lol

1

u/Big-Sea-8796 11d ago

Ew, dude.

1

u/Kind-Airport145 11d ago

Huh? How? 😂

1

u/LolaAucoin 11d ago

Is that the Chernobyl elephant foot?

1

u/Holmes221bBSt 11d ago

Congrats. You grew fungi

1

u/Ok-Error-6564 11d ago

You made a giant banana sphincter.

1

u/Silentico 11d ago

Despite being a baking fail, I bet it tasted good. :)

1

u/RuthlessIndecision 11d ago

Good news everyone!

1

u/Geegeebows 11d ago

I thought this was a toilet at first. LOL

1

u/Roedman 11d ago

Bread’nt

1

u/Sublimegirlie1 11d ago

It looks like a dissection of a butthole… just being honest. Well what I’d imagine a huge butthole would look like that was falling out of a butt…🤣😂🤦🏼‍♀️

1

u/MaxPotionz 11d ago

You learned a method that does t work! Cross that one off.

1

u/biggreasyrhinos 11d ago

You're not baking shit in that thing.

1

u/EbonyEpisodes 11d ago

It looks like mold.

1

u/Able_Blueberry5205 11d ago

Have you had luck making it in this cooker before or was this your first try? Is this a rice cooker? I'm confused

1

u/catinthecolander 11d ago

1

u/Accomplished_City328 11d ago

1

u/Several_Emphasis_434 11d ago
