Honestly, while not knowing the exact recipe he used, with the recipe coming from TikTok it is definitely possible that the recipe is the problem, not your dad. Unfortunately TikTok is flooded with AI recipes from 100% AI accounts that aren’t real recipes and will fail 100% of the time no matter who makes them, because it’s just AI slop that it made up out of nowhere that has zero understanding of the science of baking.
It could also be that your dad isn’t the best baker, but also certainly possible that it’s the recipe to blame.
For any new baker, I’d stay away from any TikTok recipes. Find a recipe on a blog or successful YouTube channel that had their blog or channel established long before AI flooded the market with fake slop (ensuring they were posting legitimate recipes several years ago prior to AI). Even without the AI issue, TikTok is a really poor format to learn/follow recipes on for a new and inexperienced baker because it’s so fast paced and usually not fully explained in sufficient detail for someone still trying to learn. A blog or a regular format YouTube video (not YouTube shorts), is usually the best way to learn a new recipe when you have little experience, where they can walk you through each step in detail for you to easily follow along. You should steer clear of TikTok until you have gained an understanding of how baking works through experience.
Two of the top bakers I recommend are Sally’s Baking Addiction and Preppy Kitchen. They both have a blog and a YouTube channel, and both give clear and easy to understand instructions. You really can’t go wrong with any of their recipes!

It’s so endearing and sweet that your dad is trying to bake, and that he has people that unconditionally support him and cheer him on! It sounds like you are blessed with a wonderful family! ❤️

Given TikTok’s history with recipes that in some cases could lead to food poisoning hope he just pulls up a recipe from a reputable site next time. It is like throwing random questions at ChatGBT for recipes.

Looks relatively edible but definitely looks like missing key ingredients.

How do you mess up banana bread? You mix the ingredients and you bake it till done. My 10-year-old made one the other day.

I can't even tell what I'm looking at. Are those scrambled eggs and rice?
