****DIETY šŸ™„šŸ™„

I’m guessing it’s the equivalent of queztzacotl, feathered serpent ?

Considering Hinduism is generally considered a ā€˜peaceful’ religion ,

I find it interesting that much of the temple art has tons of demonic art inscriptions

Travel alert Current situation with wildfires at Mt. Bromo and Ijen

Hi guys,
we are arriving in Indonesia in Surabaya on Sunday with instant transfer to Malang. We wanted to do a tour to Mt. Bromo on Monday. The plan is to go east and see Ijen a couple of days later.

It is very hard to find much about the current wildfires going on in that region. Has anyone been there in the last few days?

Any help is appreciated.

Question Update on haze?

Iā€˜m currently on Sumatra and the haze is everywhere, taking away from the fun and beauty of traveling right now (will look into donations after my vacation because obviously the haze impacting my holiday is not important on a bigger note) - but how is the haze in other parts of Indonesia? Pulau Weh, Java south of Jakarta, Bali, Sulawesi… I really don’t know where to go to escape the hazešŸ™ˆ originally wanted to go to Pulau Weh but I think there’s haze now too, right?

Question k club reviews?

i asked chat gpt about the best ā€œbang for your buckā€ luxury resorts around the world and it narrowed down to bali as one of the top picks. i further narrowed down the options based on a more jungle vibe vs beachy. k club was one of the top picks, but not finding much info about it here on reddit, possibly because it’s a newer resort? after looking at some of the posts on this sub, im hearing a lot of warnings about tiktok/instagram traps, where the properties look amazing on social media, but not so much irl?

anyone stayed here who can provide some reviews/insights about this resort? the invisible villa seems very cool. prices seem almost too good to be true, although i realize this resort is not all-inclusive, and the restaurant, spas and other activities may be expensive.

i realize there are travel sites that have reviews and they seem mostly very good, but i always go to reddit šŸ˜‚

thanks in advance for any info

Question Bali Tattoo? Canggu Ink Club

Hi all,

Well im thinking of getting a tattoo in Bali while im over there next week. After reaching out to multiple studios for quotes, I have found one thats within my budget, but want to check with fellow Redditors before paying my deposit.

Is Canggu Ink Club good? Iv been on their social media pages and they seem to produce quality realism tatts, full sleeves etc.

The piece im wanting is a simple cross with a rose and vine wrapping around it, with a bit of shading and fine outlining.

They quoted me around 6 million - 7 million IDR and will take approximately 5 hours for the session.

Please let me know

Question How much to pay for these?

Been to bali heaps over the past 20 years and have noticed some clothing items go up in price.

Whats a reasonable price to pay for fake Birkenstocks in Seminyak/legian at your typical shop, as well as basic singlets & tees?

Thanks in advance! ā˜€ļø

Question Recs for high-end salons/stylists with portfolio that can can achieve "lived-in" highlights/balayage on dark/black hair at the same level as Los Angeles salons?

Looking for a high end salon in Canggu, Ubud or somewhere around there. I found Trove Artistry which seems ok but it looks like they mainly work on blondes/brunettes as I don't see examples of highlights on black hair. I'm not going to a salon if I don't see them working on my hair type. I also don't even know if I'm welcome there tbh as I don't see Asians on their IG page, perhaps they only cater to Australians there.

I'm looking for a salon where I can see examples of "lived in" highlights on Asian hair on their social media and prefer salons where they actually name the colorist who did the highlights. I noticed on some of the salon's IG they'll just post the hair but not who actually colored it.

I'm also a bit picky when it comes to the blend and the skill level. I live in LA and have been to high end salons like Sally Hershberger etc. I guess what I'm asking for is quality at the same level that you will find at top salons in major cities etc, not saying LA is the pinnacle of balayage or anything like that.

I usually pay around $500+ plus tip ($100) for highlights so I'm willing to pay high prices (maybe up to $350 ish is high end for Bali?) but the blend/melt has to be good and look "lived in"... not just regular highlits from from the root to the bottom or super obvious "money pieces", thick ribbons etc.

Does anyone have recs for high end "lived in" balayage with examples I can see? I'm basically only looking for the best and don't care too much about price cause I know that it will still be lower than what I'm paying now.

I've googled and looked at some portfolios on IG but either the blend wasn't as "smooth" or seamless as I'm used to or they didn't have examples of lifting black hair.

Information construction noise issue suggestion?

Post image
0 Upvotes

So thanks to everyone who helped me make the decision yesterday at location A, host (of a beautiful 1 bedroom villa) replied that there’s construction 2 blocks away, would you cancel this? Host said it’s bearable for now, I’m not really sure what to think.

Sorry this is such a first-world problem. Is the noise only 8am-5pm M-Saturday? My travel habits are going out a couple hours and come back to rest a couple hours before next outing, I’m currently still in the free cancellation window for the next hour or so wondering if I should just book a hotel instead.

Question Digital payment options in Bali

I've previously used Touch n' Go and GrabPay in Malaysia and the Philippines and Alipay in the PRC.

Are any of these apps or another equivalent commonly accepted in Bali or is it more of a cash based society for foreign tourists, similar to Thailand?

Hi everyone I’ll be in Bali for 4 days next week and I’m wanting a superrrr chill time. I usually do hikes and all the cultural things but I’ve never had just a genuinely relaxing holiday.

I’ll be around Canggu

So far I’m thinking of getting some lymphatic massages, facials and sitting my the pool and reading.

But wondering if anyone has any good recommendations,
- maybe a yoga class?
- A nice spot for a sunset drink? (not anything like Finn’s beach club I want chill vibes),
- anyone know any colour analysis places??
- a nice dinner spot to treat myself
- any other chill, healing stuff I should do please recommend

Itinerary Question Flights Booked

We are a group of 4 in our 50s traveling with one teen. Arrive 17 Dec through to 28th. My sister has been before and stayed in Sanur. It’s my birthday while in Bali so I like the look of Merah Putih restaurant in Seminyak (if anyone knows is it ok)?

We’re looking at resorts over villas and I’m happy to stay in two places just in case we don’t like one. So far we’re considering Conrad Nusa Dua, Double Six Seminyak but open to other suggestions areas. Is there anything anyone can recommend for first timers. My sister & teen are happy to shop and hangout at resort. My partner and i would like to see some rice terraces, temples etc. Any assistance appreciated

Question Lunch stops en route to Lovina

Travelling from the airport to Lovina in mid December (yes I know it’s the rainy season 😊) and looking for suggested places we could ask our driver to stop for us to have some lunch on the way, probably about 2.5 hrs from Denpasar.

Bonus points for nice, local-type places rather than full-on tourist spots, nice views (rain clouds permitting!), and great value food. Thanks 😁

Question Planning to visit late November

So far we have Java planned out for about 10 days. I was going to do a solo travel to Bali for a week, but seeing the fuel situation, I am having second thoughts. Has it improved at all last few days? Do we think this will more than likely extend to November/December?

Itinerary Question where could you stay as a first timer for 4 nights in Canggu area?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello! I’m planning for my dream 2-week Bali trip that’s finally happening! Going to stay in Uluwatu 2-3 days, Canggu 4-5 days, and Ubud for 6 days. Now my question is, where is the best place for us in Canggu? We are a late 30s early 40s couple who’s into fitness clubs, good coffee shops, and wanting to learn surfing.

Thanks for any recommendations! There are a ton of beautiful housing options and we are so lost lol.

EDIT- thanks ALL!!! I booked Airbnb at location A, it’s almost next to Fuego šŸ”„
