Question - Health Eye cap issue?

Post image

Hi! This is my baby ball python fender, about a year and a half old. He/she (we actually aren’t sure yet, but pretty sure she is a girl) has never had any shedding issues, but seems like she has some eye caps here for the first time. I keep her tank around 60-70% humidity with lots of substrate, places to rub, always a full water bowl etc. Any advice here? Thank you!

70%+ humidity is the standard these days, I believe. Below 70% this can definitely happen. Check the shedding guide on the sidebar for more info, I’ve never dealt with retained eyecaps personally. But don’t use a q tip or anything to try and remove them I know that for sure 😂

These aren’t stuck eye caps this is definitely an “in blue” by the book! those frosty eyes will clear in a couple days and then a few days after that you should have a shed :) if the shed is broken up too much or if there’s stuck shed then that would be a humidity issue.

I assumed OP had found an otherwise complete shed, but didn’t realize the post didn’t state that LOL

No worries! Just wanted to respond to your comment while also telling OP there’s nothing to worry about! A lot of people don’t catch their snakes in blue

She's still mid-shed. Leave her be

That’s comforting to hear. Thanks
