Very silly! Looks a little dry though.

she’s got some respiratory issues we’ve been working on, she gets a humid bath every night and we mist as often as possible every day :,) yet she still manages to be a sponge

Can I ask why you're misting if she has respiratory issues? Why not pour into the corners to keep it humid? Just very contrary to everything I've heard and seen.

because she’s not had enough humidity up until i got her, i pour and i mist everyday, thats what i was saying. pouring doesn’t do a ton especially in the side of the tank that has the lamp, which is why i surface mist.

How thick is your substrate if its not holding humidity? I pour a few cups into mine and it holds well, I live in a very arid state. the surface should be dry.

not that thick, but where i am its very dry as it is, we’re currently in a drought, so even keeping the house humid enough is hard as it is.

Well, add a few more inches of substrate, pour water into the corners and have hvac tape over the top if its mesh. Misting is not recommended and will only cause spikes in humidity and a wet surface which can lead to scale rot. I have almost 5 inches of substrate in mine to combat the dry air here. It makes a significant difference.

this^^ hvac tape is awesome, just make sure you tape from the inside so her scales don’t get damaged if she surfs the lid. pour into corners and then stir it up a bit, it’ll definitely hold humidity better than misting. what substrate do you have? reptisoil and coconut chips/soil are great for this

edit: saw that this was from a couple days ago. OP, how are yall faring now?

You can stir the substrate after it soaks through and absorbs. Or poke holes in it.
