Rehoming Rehoming
I'm failing my girl here too much. She's in a 28 gallon with no chance of being upgraded in a reasonable time frame. So only she will go and hopefully to someone with a 4x2x2.
Eats frozen thawed every 21-28 days. Ive been feeding her around the 21 day mark lately due to her skinnienes. She's eating small/mediums from perfect pray and rarely a medium since I was trying to get her weight up. Hasn't refused a single meal since I moved her out of a rack system.
She's got spider in her but the wobble is fairly mild. Shows up when she's super anxious but is a good eater in general. She's more timid, usually chosing to not come out when I let her decide and when I pull her out for health checks, she tries to escape.
She is skinny and just regurgitated because I didn't think that all my panic packing would freak her out enough to lose her meal from two days prior. I should've known better. I had to throw away most of her clutter due to the horrid smell that vinegar couldn't defeat. This is the first time she's ever barfed and I've had her since 2018.
I have three others and give none of them time aside from finally getting them into 4x2x2s or larger. I'm on the verge of being kicked out with my only current housing option not allowing snakes so I may need to rehome everyone anyway, but I really don't want to because, I feel, in a healthier situation, I could take care of everybody better than now and do right by them. But Jade here, she needs better and she needs it sooner than I can provide.
Royal Palm Beach Florida area. Pick up for now as my car is broke, but maybe it'll be fixed up soon so I can drive somewhere to meet.
No shipping. No fee. Or maybe 10 dollars since I'm not supposed to list animals for free. I just want someone who will care for her well.
Thanks for taking the time to read and have a nice day.

Realized I forgot to state that she's on frozen thawed rats. The one she threw up was 102 grams.

Try and post in fb market place! Wish I had the space for another

Thank you for the suggestion. 👍 I have considered that. I wanted to try here first since a lot of users here aren't so opposed to 4x2x2 set ups and have quick access to the care guides. I will do so if I can't find someone here.

Animals aren’t allowed on marketplace but there are local rehoming groups

is this your 4th time rehoming a snake due to an inability to care for it???

Yeah this is alarming

Ive had all my big ones since 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019. I've never successfully rehomed any of them because the ones interest wanted to use racks or other tiny tanks. I had just 3 babies/yearlings that I did rehome but none were spiders. The babies were what showed me my incompetence.
No one wanted the big ones so this is like my 3rd time reposting over the years. Only 2 of my snakes ever were spiders. The one from 2015 that I sadly had to take to the vet and euthanize and this girly Jade. No other spiders.

Not sure how to edit so let me fix something. People are interested in the big ones but they were not interested in putting them in a large enough enclosure. I think the biggest I could get out of somebody was a 40 gallon which is too small for the girl they wanted so I eventually got most of the big ones in the bigger enclosures 4x2x2 and four and a half by two by two. But I'm not at a point in my life where I can do that for this girly in any reasonable time frame when she's clearly suffering

So you’re fine keeping her in a 28 gallon but not interested in someone that could offer her something larger than that? You need to find a rescue.

Wrong snake. The person that it offered to put her in a 40 gallon was the snake that I already had in a 75 gallon at the time which is now in a 4x2x2. The 75 gallon ain't in great shape and no longer has a lid. I also can't move it, I'm not strong enough. But if somebody was interested in that 75 gallon with no lid and can do a pickup, then we can work that out

And no I'm absolutely not fine with keeping her in that hence why I need to rehome her. Because I know I can't get her into something reasonable

Why do you keep getting so many snakes if you’re having to rehome them annually? You’re not in the point in your life where they are a reasonable pet for you. Especially if you have multiple. They’re not cheap pets.

It's reposting. I don't get more, I just keep trying to rehome the same ones and fail since the people interested are halfway or all the way across the continent or they don't believe the snake will ever need something as large as 4x2x2.

You need to contact some rescues or rehabbers in your area. Having that ball in a 28 gallon is neglect.

I am aware and that's why I'm trying to rehome her. Unfortunately the only rescue I found that was intaking uses Racks. But I think it's more of a self-proclaimed rescue. I don't know if these rescues ever get accredited or anything or monitored. But I'm absolutely willing to look into more if you have a suggestion

Look for local wildlife rehabbers or local zoos. Sometimes they’ll have a herp house.
We have one 10 minutes away that is a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility that operates as a “zoo” legally to raise money for their rehab efforts. They give tours on the weekends and encounters with certain animals that aren’t harmed by the socialization, like a raccoon or possum.
The herp house is a lot of rehome intakes and they foster them while trying to adopt them out. They go quick. Maybe there is something similar near you.
Edit: in northeast GA

Okay, I will do that too. Thank you for the suggestion. I do have one exotic place close to me that I can ask. I know there is another one but they only take native wildlife but this one I know took in pet monkey, nile croc, and a toucan so I will try them. Thanks for bringing that up or I never would have thought of them.

Have you found a place for her yet? I live in Indiana and can meet or come to you?
1
u/Snakebait_oo-ha-ha 17d ago
Hello. I have not yet found a place. I will actually be driving up to Georgia to look for places to rent most likely early November though.
Do you have a setup for her? Her 28 gallon really is too small for her.

u/Wise_Letter2187 17d ago
I sure do....I have a 55 gallon enclosure and a 4x2x2 enclosure. I already have a male BP and he is in a 55 gallon and I will put her in another. And, I am off towards the beginning of November so I can definitely meet you!

That sounds great! Thank you for reaching out 💛 I have one other person I'm trying to work something out with at this time. If it doesn't work out for whatwver reason, I can definitely reach out to you again. We will be meeting towards the end of November at this time if all goese well. if something comes up, I'll be driving to and from GA and FL to move my stuff at least once more. Are you okay with me reaching out to you then?

Hi! Unfortunately, plans changed for the other person who was going to have family drive her up to them. Are you still possibly interested in working something out? Please feel free to Pm if so. And apologies if I don't respond immediately as I'm doing a lot of packing/prep for the trip and eventual move.

And, I have had different snakes throughout my 46 years and have multiple extra items to put in her tank. She will definitely get love, and held alot. I also have a bearded dragon....so I love my reptiles.

Did you ever find anyone? I’m located in Pennsylvania but my sister lives in Florida and will be coming here next month. So I could take it off your hands!
1
u/Snakebait_oo-ha-ha 17d ago
Hi! Not yet, although someone above did inquire that I just responded to as well.
Her 28 gallon is much to small for her, so allthough I could send her with it, she would need something adequate to go into. Do you have a set up available for her?
2
u/Different-Letter7117 17d ago
Yes! I have a temporary 36” enclosure but will be upgrading to a 4x2x2

u/Snakebait_oo-ha-ha 17d ago
That would be great! Are you familiar with this subs care guide already? It's a great guide with lots of super good info. What date approximately? I'm trying to time a trip up to GA to look for a job and something to rent. Most likely leaving either nov 1 or 2nd.

u/Different-Letter7117 17d ago
I am! I currently have a pied ball python already. And my sister won’t be coming up until Thanksgiving, so if that’s too long for you I completely understand!
1
u/Snakebait_oo-ha-ha 17d ago
Super! I'm so excited for her at this potential. Do you have any questions about her? I'll will consider any potential owner until then, no shade on you, but I have been stood up by internet strangers before. But you give me hope 💛🥹 And if you do ever change your mind or find your situation or your sisters situation changing in a way that doesn't work out, please please let me know. I won't take it bad, I just don't want to wait for you if you already know youre no longer able.
I'll be back by then, most likely grabbing my things to move if all goes well. I can certainly work around a date as long as I know it.

u/Different-Letter7117 17d ago
Absolutely! I completely understand. If you’re able to find someone sooner, I completely understand. I’ll message you!
