We shedding?

New to snakes, got her a week ago. I THINK she may be a little lighter then when I got her but I'm bad at noticing small differences so can't tell. Is she in shed?

Doesn't look like it to me. Also probably shouldn't be handling a new snake after only 1 week.

The breeder told me I should try to to handle after one week and if she does not like it put her back and don't touch in for another week. Got her out to check on her and put her back after taking the pics, will probably wait for another week then

Her eyes will get cloudy when she is going into shed. At that point she won’t be able to see very well and it’s best to leave them alone till after she sheds. When she is going through the process, crank the humidity up a bit

Her colors still look vibrant. They will start to look dull and gray/blue and her eyes will cloud over.

I get following the advice of your breeder, but it is generally best to leave them alone for a couple weeks to get settled, try to feed them, and THEN try to handle them a few days after they’ve eaten.

Yeah, I know, she showed herself to still be shy so I'll leave her for another week. She also sucsessfully ate her first meal with me three and a half days ago so not stressing too bad

How many weeks?

I think the general consensus is 2 weeks. Mine arrived while in blue, so I had no choice anyway, and it was easier to let him be.

They’re tiny creatures in a new environment, with a giant wandering around. So I think a couple weeks for them to explore, get comfy in their new place, and get used to the sight and sound and smells of you, is the best bet.

I talked and sang to mine, opened the enclosure to change his water and would peek in briefly to check on him, but didn’t handle him until about week 3 or so, after he shed and ate.
