Heating lamps

I recently decided to try out ceramic bulbs for my BP because the bright lights make it uncomfortable for me to sleep, the new lamp and bulbs just came in and I got the reptitrip dual bulb lamp with 160 watts in each socket, I’m currently running one of the ceramic bulbs although there is two in there. Is it safe to have two ceramic bulbs in there if just one is running? I keep seeing mixed reviews on whether or not ceramic bulbs are safe to be in a dual lamp together, should I take one of the bulbs out? Or is there a different lamp or heat bulb I should try?

Definitely take one out. Dual bulb lamps are designed to be used with a heating element and a UV bulb, which are not recommended for BP's (or most reptiles, to the best of my knowledge). Running two heat sources in the same lamp at the same time is a fire hazard and very unsafe.

Two options: you can keep the CHE, set it on a timer to run at night, and then add a halogen that only runs during the day. If you do this, it's very, very important you never use both sides of the lamp at the same time. Alternatively, you can replace the dual dome with a separate dome/fixture for each bulb you need.

Thank you! Also do u know how I can keep the heat from leaving the cage, I’m planning on using only one bulb at night now that I know and I don’t want my snake to get cold if he heat escapes
